Unfortunately, due to the volcano eruption near Cetalu, Ieyasu's and Osusuki's home was reduced to being unliveable for the time being. For now, they are staying with Nyxa and Lucius in their home.

Description from the house thread:
The home on Cetalu is rustic yet charming. As with all the usual village houses, this one is two stories; the lower level houses the bathroom and living area while the top level, connected by a simple ladder, is the sleeping quarters.

The 'curbside' appeal of the home is a startling mix of simplicity and functionality. Since the volcano, however, there are singes and broken windows, though everything is slowly being put back into place. It is a rustic home with little extravagances; a small garden is slowly being nicked into a clear area next to the home, soon to be nurturing a variety of seeded vegetables and flowers- a touch of Nyxa's home in Durem. The small shed near the village house is filled to bursting with wood and kindling. A ring of large stones creates the perfect setting for an outdoor cooking fire.

Upon entering the simple home, decoration comes in bursts of color. With scraps of yellow and green fabric from a small shop in Durem window covers were created; small orchids decorate two windowsills. A zen garden and a small fountain occupy tabletops. Paper lanterns litter the ceiling in splashes of color. Family pictures are lovingly set on windowsills.

This large room splits into the kitchen/dining area. A small wooden table is set near a wall; two seats bracket the table. In the center of the table a small tin cup provides a vase to wild flowers that are kept replentished on the table. The hearth and cooking area are both left clear. Near the hearth on a roughly woven mat rest split logs perfect for a fire in the later cool evenings.

The bathroom of the home is small yet functional. There are soft, fluffy towels, washcloths, and sweet-smelling soaps. A paper lanter hangs staidly from the ceiling. Leftover fabric from the curtains have been woven to form a simple rug. Though decor in the bathroom is sparse it doesn't detract from the over-all cozyness that carries throughout the two story home. Since Nyxa's return to Cetalu after a long, unanticipated leave, there are more rugs scattered about the floor, and thicker, sturdier curtains replace the thinner textiles that were perfect for spring.

Upstairs there is a screen that separates the large room into two smaller ones. To the left of the ladder is Nyxa's sleeping area; to the right, Lucius' own private area. More colorful rugs are laid across the floors to protect bare feet on chilly mornings.

This house was one of the lucky ones.

Osusuki has very quickly shown himself to be very energetic and gregarious. He loves nothing more than a hectic game with either the other Aerandir or even the guardians - whoever will consent to joining in.

He's not shy around others, usually approaching them straight away rather than hiding back. The fox/crane mix is also extremely curious, with a desire to look into anything that is new to him. He can also be extremely vocal. Subtlety is not his strong point.

Overall, he's extremely friendly, although he can become disappointed and even confused when he's blanked by others. He doesn't understand when people or other Aerandir seem to take a dislike to him - as far as he's concerned, he likes everyone.

The two artifacts - one jar contains fox fur, the other a crane feather. It's almost hard to believe that these will form into a living, breathing, sentient creature.

The artefacts have been placed into the same jar, preparing for merging.

After the artefacts began to glow, combining first into a glowing orb and then taking shape, Osusuki was born as a gryphon!

Lucius: Osusuki likes Lucius a lot! He's always fun to play with. And now, he gets to stay with Luc because of the volcano! Good things can come from bad things, sometimes.

Nyxa: Nyxa's nice ^_^. She looks after Lucius, and Yasu seems to like her a lot.

Pueblo: He doesn't understand Pueblo very well. The first time they met, she refused to come down to his level to play. The second time, she was all wispy and see through. She was more interested in playing the second time though, which was great biggrin Maybe she was just tired or something the first time.

Rahujo: Rahujo is interesting! She's really nice too. And she has this greaaaat big fire!! It's awesome!

Alyosha: Alyosha gave Osu food the last time they met ^_^. Mmmm...beef.... Ieyasu seems to know Alyosha, but Delta doesn't seem to like him very much. Osu wonders why. Alyosha seems perfectly nice to him.

Anakiro: Anakiro is nice! Osu likes him! He was playing with Kiro in the hot springs before he met Delta. He's not an Aerandir or as energetic as Lucius, but that's ok! Not everyone can be as bouncy as Osu.

Syrenrei: This is another person that Osu doesn't understand. She ran away from him the first time they met, even though he was only wanting to meet her. He doesn't think that she runs away now, and Ieyasu seems to know her, so maybe now she'll stay so that he can find out what she's like properly.

Delta: Delta is odd. She didn't seem to want to play with him when they met. And she falls asleep at the oddest times! Who wants to sleep when there's so much to do!?

Keanu: Keanu is fun! The last time they met, Osu had a great time racing him up and down the beach. Osu can run faster than he can, but Keanu can fly so much better! Hopefully, they'll meet again at some point.

Acia: Acia is awesome. She's been showing Osu how to control his spellweaving. Thanks to her, Osu's been getting better at manipulating fire, even if he can't make it yet. He can't wait to show her how good he's gotten at his control! smile

Sashen'ka: Sasha's fun to play with! She likes playing pounce with Osu's tail. She doesn't seem to like Ilex though. That makes Osu sad sad

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Apparent age: early-mid twenties
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 145lbs (Slender, somewhat narrow build)
Eyes: Pale blue/green
Hair: White, kept long
Clothes/style: Casual. He's likely to walk about in nothing more than a pair or jeans, combats or shorts, especially due to the warmth. Either that, or accompanied with a simple shirt, worn either open or closed.
Short Description: Not what you could call shy, he has a somewhat audacious attitude. He seems friendly enough on most occasions, but can be prone to bouts of hot temper that die down as quickly as they flare up. His manner is as informal as his manner of dress. He's a mild smoker.
Background: Ieyasu has a somewhat convoluted past, for which he is as much to blame as anyone else. As some of the Aerandir community have since found out, Ieyasu is a kitsune - a shapeshifting fox spirit. In his younger years, his temperament was hotter and much less tolerant, despite the fact that he stayed with a gregarious group of wild kitsune (or nogitsune). As a result of his loud mouth and anti-social attitude, he often landed himself in a great deal of trouble, having a fair amount of rivalries and fights with the other kitsune.
Now a little older and wiser, he's cooled his heels a great deal. His temper can still flare from time to time, but he no longer shuns company as he did. His trip to Cetalu and subsequent guardianship of the Aerandir Osusuki stemmed from a desire to actually achieve something good for once in his life, instead of the trouble that he had always managed to cause before.

Sy
Ieyasu, many thanks for helping me move into my house. I got some lanterns while I was working and thought that you and Osusuki might enjoy this one as a sign of our gratitude.

Inside the simply wrapped package is a hanging lantern...

Journal entry - Feb 18 2005
Well... first journal entry. I've been here on the island for several days now, but I haven't had much time to actually sit and write. It's strange to be so busy. Usually I have all the time in the world.

For the last three or four days, I've been working to get my lodging in order, both for myself and for the soon-to-be Aerandir. I've pretty much finished downstairs. All the furniture's been moved in now. Still got to finish the bedroom, but that's for tomorrow.

Now, onto more important things. I've been told that the artefacts that were handed to me are in fact from a japanese crane and a fox. An interesting mix, very interesting. The crane is a symbol of peace and longevity. And the fox... well, the fox is known all over the world as a being of mischief and cunning, from the oriental kitsune to Uncle Remus' stories of Brer Fox. Heh...

Sometimes, I wonder to myself why I chose to do this. I surprised myself by actually doing more than just flicking over that leaflet I found. What I read and found out in the shop was interesting, I'll give it that. Intriguing, even. But it's more than that. I *want* to do something good for once. I want to help, and I want to achieve something. I'll try. I'll get up off my a** and try.

Ieyasu set down the diary, leaning back. The deer chaser thunked down tirelessly, the bamboo tube spilling its contents into the shallow bowl beneath. He had gone out onto the little wooden decking just in front of the house, to enjoy the sun as he started the journal he was supposed to be keeping. He always enjoyed the sun, although he tended to doze off in it if he stayed too still in it for long.

After a moment, he glanced over at the jars. He'd brought them out with him, along with the book. Sealed within the glass jars, the fur and the feather were both unmoving, inanimate and lifeless. Ieyasu stared at them thoughtfully. He'd never heard of creatures that came to life in the way that the Aerandir did. Oh, sure, he'd heard of cloning and all that sorta stuff, but cloning was to do with living cells. Not bits of fluff and feather.
Shaking his head a little, he then stretched languidly. Rising to his feet, he scooped up the jars and the journal. He'd need to see about setting up a makeshift bed downstairs for the night, while the paint in the bedroom dried.

Journal entry - Feb 19 2005
That's all the decoration work finished, finally! It's good to be able to actually relax now. Got a letter through today as well. I wasn't long finished moving the furniture when I came down the ladder and found it.

A letter
Dear Ieyasu,
I am happy to note that the accomodation you were allocated has now reached a stage which is suitable for your Aerandir items to be placed together within a single bottle. This will allow for them to "merge" - admittedly, however, this process may take some time.

The reason I am writing to you is to confirm that we have a name for your Aerandir for our records. Further study of the evidence gleaned from your artifacts has shown that there is a 98% chance of your Aerandir being male. I included this information with the hope of perhaps aiding you in choosing a name. If you could get back to me with haste I will arrange for all of the formalities to be completed so that we may start you on your way as an Aerandir guardian.

Yours sincerely,

Alyosha.

Those odds are pretty high. It's probably fairly safe to choose a male name. Easier said than done though. I've spent a fair amount of time thinking it over. Decided to go with a Japanese name, due to the oriental influence of both animals. And, since it's male, the name of one of the early kitsune to become well known in legend should be fitting. Osusuki, the male fox that first sought shelter at an Inari shrine.

So, just about to send my reply off to Alyosha:

Ieyasu's reply
Dear Alyosha,
Thank you for informing me of the situation. I am glad to hear that the merging of my artefacts can now begin.

After some thought, I have decided upon the name Osusuki for the Aerandir. This, I think, will be fitting considering the origin of the artefacts.

Yours,
Ieyasu

Ieyasu set down his pen and closed the journal over. He picked up his letter to Alyosha. He'd need to get this reply to him, to let him know what was happening. A walk in the fresh air would be good after another day spent decorating and heaving furniture about.
