"Hey Liz?" Ryan poked my shoulder.
"Yeah?"
"Can I borrow a pen? I lost mine."
"Yeah. Of course. Pink or red?"
"Oh! Pink!"
I giggled and handed him the pen. He scrawled Ryan Ross at the top of his paper and handed it back just as the bell rang.
"YAY!" he shouted, springing up and almost running out the door. I followed him, smiling. We deposited our stuff in our lockers and ran outside to the tree where we always met our friends. Brendon, Brent, and Spencer were already there. I hurled myself at Brendon, then kissed all of them on the cheek.
"What's got her so wound up?" Brendon asked.
"TWO DAYS!" I shouted, laughing.
Brent played dumb. "Until... what, exactly?"
"Summer!" I grinned. "Duh!"
"You mean it's not summer yet?"
It's hot enough to be," put in Spencer.
I nodded and pushed brown hair out of my eyes. All of us had brown hair, but various shades of it. Still, most people thought we were siblings.
