December 30th...
Two minutes to midnight.
I wish I could tell you it had been snowing that day, however it wasn't. Instead it was raining. Well, more like pouring per-say. We were suppose to meet on another that night. I had longed to see you for that entire day however you were stuck in an unexpected seminar planned by your fellow co-workers. I still waited.
After twenty minutes of being late, you finally had come. My dearest of friends... my teacher... no... my lover. Without thinking about it I ran into your arms, soaking wet and holding you as you held onto the umbrella with a shocked look upon your face. It had been almost an entire month since we had last saw one another. Yet, I didn't care. I was a sixteen year old high school student preparing to graduate high school early just so I could be at your side like we planned.
We were so happy to be with one another that while walking across the street we didn't realize the cross walk sign had changed right when we started to walk. With a thundering hock a car horn sounded and within a second I pushed you out of the way. With that it was all over and our new lives just started.
Six months after my death the man I loved forgot about me. My childish and ever hopeful life was taken and forgotten just so a man to forget all about me.
On my seventeenth birthday, I visited you and you didn't even go to my grave. On the anniversary of my death, I was completely erased from you. On my eighteen birthday I left you and went to check in on my younger half brother who was now only ten years old. The world had moved on in only a short period of time and I had not found one single ghost or person like me. Heck I couldn't even do anything that they said in the movies I could do. Some bullshit sfyfi s**t didn't work at all.
Then time moved on so far that I had lost myself...
"So how long have you been gone for?" A girl asked me as she sat next to me in beat up clothing showing that oddly enough showed me that she was dead. Her jeans had a fall scrap and her bone stuck out of her knee. Her face was fine but her stomach which was showing because of her mid-drift shirt showed she had been beaten to death. She was pretty and it seemed that she didn't deserve to die. Apparently I looked lost because she asked me again, "So tell me, how long have you been dead for? You look kinda new."And with that... I had made a new friend in my after life. However once she taught me all the tricks of being dead she told me three things of how to cross over. 1. When you find a human that can see you, you must help them at all cost, 2. After your human is all taken care of you will forget about them and then be able to see other ghosts, and 3. The ghost that can see you, hear you, and interact with you, you must get them to accept those rules before you can cross over.
Oddly enough I came to terms with this after I have no idea because one day she just vanished and I was alone ago.
