Today is a decade after the twin towers went down. I know a lot of Gaian's are not in the U.S. of A. but if you would please use this thread to help me commemorate those who died on that day of ten years ago.

I was only 5 when 9/11 struck the United States and forever changed our world and how we lived. At that time, I was living right in New York City. Still, while I don't have a single clear memory, I remember the feelings. There was fear pouring from my teacher, and because little children often respond to the environment around them, we were afraid too.

I was small as well, but all I remember is being let out of school early and going home, watching the twin towers fall on t.v. My church service this morning inspired me to make this topic... it was very sad and moving.

I, too, was young. My mom's even told me that the planes that flew into the World Trade Centers flew over us as we waited for the school bus to come. It makes me wonder what would have happened if the hijackers decided my neighborhood would have been the perfect place to crash. I don't wanna think that way.
I actually only found out due to the fact that when I finally did get home from school I had to...well...use the facilities and my mom wouldn't let me cause the television was position so you could see it while running to the bathroom. Sadly, I broke my promise to her and looked at the screen, only to brush it off as some scary movie.
I remember being afraid, I still am. I also remember the surge in patriotism, and that was something cool. I believe that those who continued to go up to save others, they never came down. They simply climbed their way up to heaven, saving many along the way.
Never will forget the heros and victums of that terrible day. sad

I wasn't as young as the rest of you, I guess. I was in junior high and I just remember everyone walking around the whole day like zombies...
I've chosen this 9/11, not just to remember the people that have died that day, but all the people who have fought for freedom since, all the people have died in the terrorist attacks in Europe or really... any other place. In my heart, we are all humans, all people, so it's sad that we sometimes choose to look at our differences for a reason to forget what wonderful people we all can be, given the chance.
I am glad that there are times, places, and people that help remind us of that. 3nodding
I'm thankful for everyone.

I know this is rather late, but it hit those of us in Canada just as hard. There were a few Canadians in the buildings who died, and being that it's so close to us, it's very scary. I was only 7, but I remember watching the television and not fully understanding what was going on until my mom explained it to me, and when we held the memorial at school the next day. I still tear up when I see the documentaries or testimonials from loved ones, or even the memorials.

Over 60 nations I believe the number was, had lost citizens that day. So 60 nations were directly affected, and in that every nation was impacted directly or indirectly on that day. Most nations now are adding more security and it showed the world the new era of terrorism. I remember being in 4th grade and my teacher crying. I live in upstate new york. I remember an announcement in school was made to describe what had happened and what terrorism was. I don't remember vividly everything but I remember being told not to go outside, I remember clearly seeing the news I also remember the time when I decided to try watching something else while my parents were crying watching the news. I decided to go to watch a different tv and turning to Nickelodeon and cartoon network around 7 pm. I am not to sure everything that happened between when I was told not to go outside and that night except for the news report. I Will never forget. I will never forgive al-queda. It is never to late to pay tribute to those who lost their lives, but I also understand we are starting to move on and that we are rebuilding. Terrorists may try to destroy America but they will never destroy our spirit, let alone America. God Bless the U.S.A. and any country who has to deal with terrorism.
