On June 11th 2002 American Television would change and never be the same, for on that day Fox debut their newest reality show American Idol, and was an overnight success. Since then many other knock off series and impersonating shows have come. One such show is America's Got Talent, which debut on NBC in 2006. And though many still hold Idol as the superior series. I have to tip my hat in favor of America's Got Talent. I could never get into Idol, where Talent showcases a wider variety of acts other than just singing. That and to me Piers Morgan > Simon Cowell. Pretty much a reincarnation of the Gong Show, AGT has become the greatest talent show on the planet. Though I've only been a sometimes viewer through the first 5 seasons, season 6 got me hooked, and I watched it from beginning to end. So one cannot review a talent show TV series unless they review the talent on it. In order to do that I am listing my top 5 favorite acts from Season 6 in yet another top 5 countdown.

5. Those Funny Little People Istanbul (Wildcard round)- I won't deny I have a weird sense of humor. Some weird and wacky things I just don't get, others I can't help but love. And from the moment I saw their audition I became a fan. These weird Elf/Gnome guys are absolutely ridiculous, but in a good way. There's something about these guys that if you give them a chance, they will grow on you. And when they performed to They Might Be Giants Istanbul song, This immediately became a favorite act.
Why it's not #1- Those Funny Little People are more of a guilty pleasure than anything else. Though I absolutely love the act, there was nothing about it that made me think they were going to go all the way and win. For me it wasn't a matter of if but when they were going to be eliminated. Good enough to satisfy my quirky sense of humor, and that's about it.

4. Zuma Zuma (Semi Finals)- I was a former professional dancer, still dance every once and a while but not nearly as much as I used to. So I have a lot of appreciation for dancers and dance teams. Judge Howie Mandel even said this season is the season of the dance. One of my favorite dance groups was Zuma Zuma. Their mix of dance and acrobatics is just amazing and fun to watch. Throw in a sense of danger with the fire and balancing on stacked chairs and you have a well rounded act, one I wish would have gone even further than it did.
Why It's Not #1- As I mentioned above this was the season of the dance. And even though Zuma Zuma was my second favorite dance group, there were many other performances by other dance teams I thought were more moving and emotionally appealing. It may sound sappy, but great dancing that tug at your heart strings are just more memorable than just the great dance numbers. These guys are amazing, but against some of the other dance groups it was very very difficult move on.

3. Landon Swank (Top 10)- Like with Zuma Zuma, there was a time in my life where I was into magic and wanted to be a magician. Though my magic success wasn't nearly as successful as my dance one, but I still have a soft spot for magicians and their craft. Landon Swank was thee best magician this season for a reason. Some magicians had the stage presence but not the great magic, others had the great tricks but no stage presence, Swank had both. And his magic routine could land him any venue in Las Vegas.
Why It's Not #1- Though this act was my personal favorite of his, some argue it wasn't his best performance of the season. In the previous rounds he had death defying stunts which his life was on the line. This one was a performance piece which was simple, fun, and enjoyable. I absolutely loved it, but feel a little bad if I placed an act at #1 which was my personal favorite of the performers, but not necessarily or arguably his best trick of the season.

2. Team iluminate (Quarterfinals)- In my opinion thee best dance group of the season. This act is just amazing and inspirational. All it took was this one performance and I wanted them to go the distance and win the whole thing. I was disappointed that they finished 3rd overall, but that is still nothing to be ashamed of. They had several other acts after this one, but this was by far my personal favorite.
Why It's Not #1- This act could have easily been #1 for me, but I felt that watching them on TV there is a lot more that gets lost and is missed than watching them in person. True that can be said of a lot of acts, but I felt it was more true with this one than most of the others. Until I actually see a live performance, I seriously feel I'm not getting to experience the true/full beauty of this performance. And that missing element forces me to put them at #2. Where my #1 is an amazing performance that I enjoy so much, that being there to witness it in person or viewing from home makes no difference.

Honorable Mentions- Kinetic King (Wild Card), Anna Graceman (Quarterfinals), Silhouettes (Quarterfinals), Landau Eugene Murphy jr. (Finals), Miami All Stars (Semifinals)

1. Lys Agnes (Semifinals)- Lys Agnes was by far my favorite singer this season, not my favorite performer overall, but still my favorite singer. I didn't think that a singer would give me the best performance of the whole season since I love dancers and magicians so much, but when she sung Evanescence Bring Me To Life, it literally gave me goosebumps. It was the only act that after the show I had to run to my computer, look it up, and watch it over and over again. A truly moving rendition of the popular song, and though she made it into the top 10 with this performance, I only wished she could have made it even further. Thus making this by far my favorite performance of the entire season.

America's Got Talent in it's sixth season failed to disappoint, and it's success has guaranteed a season 7. These acts and many others like it made this show very fun to watch, and provides a lot more variety than Idol, promising to deliver an act that will satisfy anyone and everyone whether it be singing, dancing, magic, or whatever your interest is.

So what were some of your favorite performances from season 6? feel free to list what you loved or hated from this past season.
