I have several things that I want to see done here (mostly as ammendments to the constitution or rules), and these can be categorised quite easily in three sections: Activity, inactivity and central committee. I will explain these ideas in simple terms (without numbers) below:
Activity
Seeing the deep membership inactivity that the guild has I want to propose several things that could very make the activity and the membership rise. These are as follows:
1: Guild invitation programmes. I am very aware that these have already been done, especially with sympathizing people of the ED and it's subforums. What I mean by this is to invite people of all forums that have the ideology specified in the guild constitution and all the specifications said in it. As someone who came here before posting at the ED I believe that there is a potential number of active members that are in the other forums in gaia apart from those that are already in the ED that can be educated in communism and transformed into debaters. I would also like a recruitment thread to be established in the gaia guild forum for this purpose. To ensure that this will be done I propose making a sticky with the suggestions of people to be invited after the captain, vicecaptain's and crew's approval (by a majority). The invitation has to be sent by the captain.
2: Searches Since several months ago I have noticed that the guild doesn't appear in the searches with it's tags nor in the political section of the guilds. I want this to be resolved as it is an important thing to get more people to join the guild other than by invites or seeing a banner in a signature.
3: Weekly controversial topic I want to ensure that the vice-captain or the captain post a controversial topic in the main forum a minimum of once a week to enhance discussion. I would like this to be added as a duty of the captain and the vice-captain as a rule or as an amendment to the constitution of the guild.
4: Discussion day Although this is more referred to the skype chat of the guild I want to (if possible) set a day for a voice chat to be held, for the same reasons as the last point made and a guild announcement to be made before or while said chat is being held.
Inactivity
5: Demotion of inactive crew/vice-captain/captain As it has been very well seen during the last two elections and periods of ruling there has been quite a number of inactive crew members. I won't give any names, since I believe that we all know very well who I am referring to. Now, while this may very well be due to personal problems of any kind I want to propose an amendment to the constitution or a rule to make sure and maintain in check that the crew (and higher ranks) of the MCS maintains itself active. It is important that the leadership of a guild is active and not the opposite, as an inactive crew will unavoidable plummet the guild into inactivity. How I view that this should be done? After a certain period of time during which said member has been inactive giving a warning with the maximum amount of time that said person is allowed to remain inactive until the eventual demotion. This should be followed by the election of a new member for the central committee (and the promotion of the CC members that had the most votes during the last election). As a part of this and to ensure that this will be able to be seen by the members of the guild I propose the captain to do a weekly, biweekly or monthly announcement or report on the activity of the crew, including the captain. I would like this to be passed as an amendment of the guild's constitution or as a rule.
Central Committee hidden status
6: I want the Central Committee to be made able to be seen by all of the members of the guild. I know that this was tried to be done several months ago (or a bit more than a year) and that it failed, and seeing the violent opposition that this will surely get from some members I want to propose two ways to do this: One, to make the central committee public and ensure that no member will be able to post there in the same way that Comrade Rob proposed, which is this one (complete quote in thread at the CC)):
Comrade Rob
If you are not a member of the Central Committee (CC) you cannot post here. I repeat, if you are not the Captain, Vice, or a Mod, You cannot post here.
1st offense= a Stern talking to.
2nd offense= banhammer to the face.
or passing an ammendment that will force the captain, vice or crew to re-post in the main forum whatever thread that is made in the CC (as to avoid members posting there) and to update this thread with complete quotes of what the captain/vice/crew say in the thread at the CC to ensure that all activity in side this subforum can be seen by all of the members. If it is opted to go for the last idea I want it as an amendment of the constitution that the people elected for the central committee will follow (and to be punished as it is said in the constitution if this isn't done).
On a final note I want to say that I want elections to be held as soon as the amount of activity allows it and to say that I, as someone who hasn't been elected democratically, will step down from being a vice captain as soon as an election is promised to be done at a certain date or all of these are carried out (in which case I will continue helping with them until the elections are done).
