User Image There was a buzz on the streets and rightly so. Posters had been posted in shop windows, lamp post, fences, and handed out for over a month now. They all read the same thing, the circus was coming to town, well the it was actually coming now. Whenever the Marlie Sisters Circus went some where new they went big and what's bigger then a parade? It was the best way to show the locals, neh, to give them a taste of what's to come if they cam to a show. The parade started at the beginning of Summerwood Blvd and would end when it reached the park on the other side. The street was long and both sides where already packed with people and dogs alike.

They wouldn't be let down, there where clowns making balloon animals and handing them out to children as well as candy. There where contortionist stopping here and there to show how they could bend like a rubber band. There where fire eaters and a juggler who stole one of the eater's fire for his act. There where acrobats called the flying dames, all ladies, waving and smiling at the crowd and with them at their heels was and oddly marked, pink corgi.

She was a silly little thing, she made the kids who stared at her laugh by walking on front legs while her back legs dangled in the air. When her spine could take no more she fell into a barrel roll that she was taught by the youngest of the Flying Dames. The youngest was called Izzie by her sisters, she was the corgi's favorite and as she stared up at the girl, Izzie saw and picked her up. Together they walked farther down the street, waving at the crowd.

Elu's stub of a tail wagged delightedly as he looked up at his owner, his leash in hand. (Usually, there was no leash involved, but a recent family visitor had been startled with the idea of a dog going around loose (she had rarely been around the dogs of Summerwood, you see) and so a temporary measure was taken to calm her. Elu did not mind, at least.) They were going for a walk today, and the sounds and smells that enveloped him as soon as the door was opened a crack let him know that today would be more exciting than usual.

And right he was. As soon as they had turned a corner, they could catch sight of the circus that had graced the town that day. Everything that was to be expected from a circus -- from the jugglers to the benders to the fire-eaters -- and more, and those in Summerwood would have front-row seats.

Still, he remained relatively calm as they progressed closer. Although it was true he was curious, he felt no hurry or anxiety when by his owner. At least, until he caught sight of another corgi. Dogs were no strangers to Summerwood -- on the contrary, there were so many and so involved that they might as well be part of the population count! -- but it was always nice to meet one. His owner, seeing the cause of Elu's interest, patted him and unclipped the leash. There was mutual trust between the two, and Elu's owner was sure he would cause no harm and wound return as soon as he was called. And so, tail still wagging, Elu trotted over, his destination the heels of the lady holding the corgi.

From Izzie's arms Nomtastic could see so much, the world seem so different from up here. She could see all the smiling faces that where hoot'n hollerin for them and she smiled back with her tongue sticking out, Nommy loved the attention, she was a bit of an attention whore one could say.

Nommy could stay in Izzie's arms all day but sadly for her the weight of carrying the pink corgi was getting to be a bit muck. So she bent over to put Nommy down, the corgi didn't like this, she started to squirm in protest but Izzie saw it as a 'let me down faster' so she dropper her the last few inches. Nommy hit the asphalt with a wine, not because she was hurt but because she wanted to be up high. She tried to give Izzie the poor puppy dog eye routine but it wouldn't work, Izzie was already walking away, smiling and waving at the crowed.

Nom grumbled to herself at her displeasement but slapped on a smile and turned to the crowd. That's when she saw a blue corgi walking through the crowd towards her. It had been a while that she had seen one of her own breed but that wasn't what made her stop and stare. It was because it was walking in the parade with them! What gall!

Elu, having spent most of his time indoors or in the yard, was not as accustomed to the expectancies of the circus as another may have been. It did not occur to him that he should wait along the sides like the other non-circus members, or that everyone on the path he walked on was waving or dancing or putting on some kind of show, whereas all he was doing was walking. All he knew now was that he was curious about the corgi he saw, and that she did not seem to be dangerous or one to avoid.

"Hello," he barked when he was within earshot, his tail stub of a tail waving pleasantly. "Are you passing by?"

Honestly, that question seemed more suited for him but, in his mind, it worked just as well for her. He was curious as to her sudden appearance, and wondered whether she, and the circus, had come to stay, as one of his neighbors did after he moved in, or if her presence here was only temporary.

Nommy rolled her blue eyes as she turned her head back to the front. "Well I thought that was rather obvious." She said as she start to walk with the parade again. Honestly, the nerve of these town folk, who do they think they are hopping up off their behinds to join the parade. It wasn't for them!

Nommy was being rude and she knew it but she didn't care really, she didn't know this dog and owed him nothing.

Surprised but not deterred, Elu watched as she continued on her way, then followed at a polite distance. He still remained oblivious to the fact that the area he was in consisted of entertainers, with curious onlookers he should have been with limited to the side. It did not seem strange to him that he should be there in the midst of all the shouting and hoots, for in the quiet life he had led, he had long learned the art of drowning out the sounds. And it did not dawn on him, either, that the corgi he was attempting to converse with was working, and he was getting in the way of it.

"My name's Elu," he said after a moment, speeding up a tad to be closer and better heard before dropping back again. His ears swiveled towards her hopefully, sensing her displeasure and, not knowing he was the cause of it, hoping he would be able to appease it.

Nommy flattered in her steps as she heard the males voices behind her, her head whipped around to glare at him. 'Either he's really dense or really bold' she thought but whatever one it was didn't matter, the fact was that he was still behind her, in her parade! She looked a head again and spoke loudly so he could hear her clearly. "That's a wonderful name. A kind of name you'd think you'd get from someone on the side lines." She jerked head towards the crowds on the side walks. The pink corgi tried to open his eyes to where he should be.
