A door slams. The sound of a person running would be heard if there was anyone else around. What was present that absolutely no one could hear and only one could feel was the sheer panic that came from Roland.
Roland had been in the process of moving and settling into his Elite Four room. While he was happy that he had finally made it to be part of the Elite Four, he missed his gym. He liked his setup there. The room itself was coming along nicely, and the hidden room that only Roland knew existed even better. When Roland's eyepiece attached to his CGear started giving off a red alert, he booked it to this secret room.
The room itself was dimly lit. He didn't need much light there; the many monitors around the room gave off enough light to see what was going on on them. Many different workstations were present in the room, all had computers with stuff on them. A lot of people knew Roland was a bit of a techie... no one had any clue about the full extent of his usage of technology.
Roland took a seat in the wheeled chair that was set at one desk, and pushed himself over to another desk in the chair. Roland saw the one thing he didn't want to see on that specific monitor: More flashing red alarms. After typing in a couple of commands to make those stop, he checked to see what set them off. Sure enough, it was what he thought it was and hoped it wouldn't be: Some form of activity was going on at Verin's gym.
Recently, Roland had placed surveillance cameras all around the gym. He figured it would be the easiest way to keep an eye on it in case Verin planned something there. The fact that the alarms were now going off meant that the cameras (Some thermal, some night cameras) had detected something moving. As Roland watched the monitor, he switched from camera to camera to see if he could determine what was going on.
Finally, Roland came to the view of the front door of the gym, and what he saw made his eyes grow wide: Something that appeared to be a fog of some sort had begun to roll out of the gym. He watched as it grew in size until it finally obscured the gym from the view of the cameras. Very soon after that, all the camera feeds were shut down instantly, as if all the cameras had been smashed at once.
Roland frowned and sat back in his chair, thinking aloud. "With that fog there like that... battles can't be held there anymore. No one can get a badge. Meaning... Verin must be giving up his gym. Perhaps he has bigger fish to fry... that's a scary thought..."
With that, Roland stood up and walked away from the monitors as he lit up a cigarette and went to finish his Elite Four room.
