This is the Imperial Castle, where royalty lives in luxury. The Emperor and Empress enjoy the privilege of living here, as well as the other members of the Royal Family, such as the Princes and Princesses.
Also living here are the members of the Royal Court, including the Lords and Ladies as well as Court Attendants.
The court is divided into:
Koushaku/Koushakufujin 公爵/ 公爵夫人 (Duke/Duchess) Addressed as His/Her Grace. Could be a cousin to the Emperor or Empress.
Koushaku/Koushakufujin 侯爵/侯爵夫人(Marquis/Marquess) Same pronunciation; different kanji. Addressed as "His Lordship/Her Ladyship" and "His/Her Most Honorable" Can be addressed "Lord ___" and "Lady ___."
Hakushaku/Hakufujin 伯爵/伯夫人 (Earl/Count and Countess). Addressed as "Lordship"/"Ladyship" and "The Right Honorable."
Shishaku/Shishakufujin 子爵/子爵夫人 (Viscount/Viscountess). Also 女子爵 for Viscountess/Vicomtesse. Addressed the same way as the Hakushaku and Hakufujin.
Danshaku/Danshakufujin 男爵/男爵夫人 (Baron/Baroness). Addressed as "Lordship"/ "Ladyship." Can be addressed "My Lord," but never "My Lady" for some reason.
