Hey guys, I know I haven't posted much around here, but I've been busy elsewhere on the site. sweatdrop
Anyways... I just ordered my White version today (being shipped to my front door!), so I am kinda nervous. >.<; I haven't been following much of anything relating to Gen 5. I have gotten the shiny dogs and Celebi ready in my SS game, dying to get Zoroark and Zorua. Other than that, I'm in the dark. Has there been any other events I missed? I heard about the Eevee dream world thing, but that is obviously over. Do you think I should get the game guide to help me play through it? It seems like there are a bunch of new features and I'm wondering if I could get lost without a guide. Want to help a fellow trainer out while she waits for her game to arrive? Any important stuff I should know about WiFi?

There is a Zoroark event currently going on at toys r us. it ends tomorrow so if youre game is there before then then you should pick it up smile while there are some new features implemented into the game, I dont think you need to get a guide really. since the basic play of it is the same as the older games.

I think the only events we’ve had for B/W besides the one you mentioned have been the current Zoroark one (ends tomorrow) and the mystery egg (already over). The mystery egg would hatch into either Pansage, Axew, or Pidove, all pokémon obtainable in-game without an event. Zoroark can be caught with any one of the legendary shiny dogs from Gamestop, and both Zorua and Zoroark can be seen in-game without an event (Zorua can be captured with the Celebi from Gamestop); although personally I never figured out how to transfer the dogs or Celebi from my HG and just got a Zorua off of the GTS.
Oh, and the Liberty Pass that would allow you to travel to Liberty Garden to catch Victini. That’s over, unfortunately.
About WiFi: The main [new] thing you’ll want to know about is the C-Gear. At some point when you start your game, you’ll be asked if you want to “launch C-Gear communications” (either YES or NO). There will be a warning on the lower screen telling you that “you can enjoy this games to its fullest when wireless communications are available” and “please set wireless communications to OFF where it’s prohibited to use wireless communication, such as airplanes and hospitals”; however, under normal circumstances, you’ll want to have your C-Gear OFF because you will not have to use it to complete the game and it can drain your system’s battery.
You will use your C-Gear if you have access to WiFi. If you do, you will probably want to make a pokemon.com account if you don’t have one already. This will allow you to access the Pokémon Global Link (PGL) and the Pokémon Dream World (note: the Pokémon Dream World is played on your computer, not your DS). Full instructions of how to access this can be found here. This is kind of weird at first, but you’ll get used to it if you use it enough.
As for getting a guide, well, I never get guides personally. I just use online pokémon encyclopedias — my favorite is http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/, although some people use http://www.serebii.net/ (or both). 3nodding

I'm not too concerned about Zoroark. I'll get him(?) eventually. 3nodding All the info about the C-Gear is very helpful, thank you! I just hear all the terms, but don't know anything about it, so thanks for the description! Are natures supposed to be important? I'm haven't paid much attention to them. I'm more of a simple trainer, not caring much about stats, just so long as my 'mons are leveled up. ;P I do usually get guides, as I like having posters and the information. I'm trying to find some good cheap prices for them online.

Zoroark can be either male or female. 4laugh
Natures boost one of a pokémon’s stats by 10% and lower another stat by 10% or do nothing depending on the nature. For instance, a Ponyta with Naughty nature will have a 10% higher Attack stat than what it would have normally and 10% lower Sp. Def stat than it could have normally. Pokémon with Bashful, Docile, Hardy, Quirky, and Serious natures have no stat raised or lowered. In HG/SS and B/W, you can tell what stat is being raised or lowered by looking at your pokémon’s stats on its Summary page (the stat being lowered will be colored blue and the stat being raised will be colored red — if it has a neutral nature, nothing will be colored).
I’ve considered natures important ever since I learned what they were for (when I first played a Generation III game, I had no clue what they did). But if you don’t care about maxing out one of your pokémon’s stats, I wouldn’t worry about them other than avoiding natures that might hinder you (e.g. if you get a Snivy that specializes in Sp. Atk, avoid Adamant, Impish, Careful, or Jolly natures).
Edit 2: Nature also determines what flavors a pokémon likes and dislikes. This is important for the games that have contests in them and when deciding what berries you should let your pokémon hold (there are some berries that will raise a stat of a pokémon in a pinch but cause confusion if the pokémon hates the taste).
A list of what natures there are and what they raise/lower can be found here.
Edit: About Victini — if it’s any consolation, I think we might get another Victini event in the future when Pokémon Movie 11 gets released in English (Japan got a special Victini along with the release of that movie). It just won’t be the one that can be caught in the game and nicknamed.
