Rams are a small, relatively peaceful cichlid that do well in community tanks. They are sensitive to water conditions, so care should be taken to make sure water changes are preformed on a regular basis. They come in several color forms, and also a Balloon Belly variety.

Tank Size~

The minimum tank size, for minimal care, for a single Ram is 20 gallons. With a lot of healthy live plants, and frequent water changes, a single Ram can be house in a 10 gallons. 40 gallons per pair is recommended.

Feeding~

Rams are omnivores, and require a variety of foods. A high quality pellet or flake, and treats of Brine Shrimp, Bloodworms and veggies should keep you fish looking its best.

Tank Mates~

Rams should be kept with small, non-aggressive fish. It is not recommended to keep a Ram as single fish in a tank, as other fish help it to feel secure with its surroundings. The other fish should not be too boisterous, and they should not pick on the Ram.

Decor~

Rams like to have lots of plants, and areas to hide in to get away every now and then. The tank should be densely planted, and contain driftwood and caves.
