Which I shall post here soon enough. Next few posts will have the full outline (that I'm working on here) and succeeding posts will host ideas that I'm trying out. I've got the bones of it laid out, for the most part, now to decide all the ins and outs.
What I plan to do is write 15 parts of this story at about 3.5-4k words. Theoretically that should get me through half of Act 1...which is a lot more than I've gotten through before. But that's a flexible goal, of course.
Edit: I might add navigation to this post maybe later. Blame the website design class I'm taking, or maybe my logic one for the way I'm starting to like everything neatly written, labeled, and easy to find.
DISCLAIMER: Ask me first but - if anyone would wish to use some part of my outline (such as an idea or whatnot) you may do so. I'd ask it be altered and don't lift basically the entire plot from this thing for your own use: first of all it's incredibly convoluted, enough that I at times look at it sideways in order to understand all head-tilty like my dog sometimes does when he looks at me being weird, and secondly this isn't even the complete outline to my entire story. It's just what I could see myself getting done in a month ;p But yes, I'm cool with this. I'm cool with it because I'm writing this for fun and by doing this outline on the web I'm already settled with it being very hard to publish this even if I wanted to do so in the first place. So yeah. Have a ball.

We have three main parts and they are the pre-pre-history, the pre-history, and the start of CP. The pre-pre-history is not pictured here. Exposition is the pre-history and serves as a back drop for the rest of the story.
Exposition: Raise It Up SETUP Ten parts here, with the first, second to last, and last dealing with more than one character. It sets up the main conflict which is actually two fold. The names of each part were supposed to detail basically what the mentioned characters story lines would deal with, but it didn't work out so well in the specific episodes. So I made it more long term.
1. Solidarity 2. War 3. Courage 4. Lost 5. Other 6. Family 7. Stand 8. Salvation 9. Offered and Lost 10. And So it Goes

ACT I RISING ACTION - A & Ar's conflict - Second elementals revealed for Scion characters and Sub-S (A, N) - Students join special Traveller group - R is transferred from other school to W - K’s illness (throughout) and subsequent coma Perhaps somewhere in here J and/or C have a part. Secondary enemy starts having a larger presence: both through K’s coma and what the group fights – both so they can learn control over elementals and cause the affect them less.
There are theoretically three parts to this act wherein I should be able to get through part one and half of part two if everything goes right.
Act I Part I: So It Begins Main: This is about the VTF starting to come together as a group. A & Ar's rivalry begins here, at first merely because they don't get along with each other but both eventually take things too far and end up engaging in a physical fight in which elementals are summoned. In order to not be expelled - though this is more of an issue for A, who in the process revealed his secondary elemental is a lightning one (lighting is a volatile element and is considered unsuitable for civilization) which might end up sending him to the Council, which is something that A, for various reasons, would want to avoid - both students join the VTF, a special organization dedicated to protecting the school from various troubles. There they meet another student who previously joined, Ko, and are given an ultimatum: either they learn to work together or they will be labeled rogue elementalists and be hunted by the Council on sight.
Act I Part II: Quiet Days Are Over Main: Here A, Ar, and Ko try to navigate the rocky territory of working with each other. Secondary enemy activity begins to escalate and encroach upon school territory, which amplifies tension and also forces them to work through their own problems in ways they really wouldn't have, otherwise. This part ends with a mass attack on the school that puts K into a coma and the group on borrowed time: the Council accuses K of having attacked a student in the chaos, and the group must prove his innocence with the only person who knows what happened unable to even wake up.

WHAT I NEED:
1. The specifics of A and Ar's conflict (ongoing, also pick out the things that need more attention given too and the part about the teachers needs more detail) 2. The connection between them and Ko, respectively (Ko has the most issues with Ar, and a tentative friendship with A)
These first two points, now that we're past most stuff in Act I Part 1, will be altered just slightly into Part II. It's also tied into the VTF thing in point 3. Will need to start figuring out group relations into the last five episodes, where Aries and Ara are back to fighting and now Kol is included. But set the seeds for them to start coming together as a cohesive unit here, in the very far future.
3. The school ( the professors part ties in here) - the why, the who, the when, the what, the how of the school system (need to work on Malki and Bellatrix's classes but a part from that we're good here; would like to set up rough floorplan of Wyverneon though) - school special events (the festivals) - this one just needs a smallish mention in either/or of the first two episodes, it has a bigger part in Act I Part II in the latter half (the latter five episodes of that section) - what the special (VTF) group is all about 4. The lives of the main characters - I suppose this entire point could be better contained in Part 2 Outline as it is getting pretty specific but we'll leave this here for now (If I get all I want to get done this week and have time next week, we'll start on this, but I'll probably be writing this on the fly along with the actual content, still I striked it out because it's not needed at the moment) 5. Some setup for the relationships to grow throughout CP (mostly planned out but need some concrete details)- in general they are all very grassroots at this point, but there are a few things that need to happen specifically in the A & V, K & N pairs with Ko and Ar having issues sprouting in the second part- will in particular meld somewhat with point three as many of the main relationship characters begin to be introduced in that point 6. Work out a calendar - see post #15 for general outline - need names (suppose the days in play are fine with exception to that month in the middle of summer, which shall have 31 days by default) - general outline of when the school festivals are (It's in post 15 on this page actually. Noted here so I'll remember.) 7. Though this will be more into the second part and the last five episodes, the VTF group learning advanced courses such as: - weapons training (as a way to focus their elementals and fight the Voids) - advanced elemental powers training - summoning elementals (these three should do this by the end of Act 1 Part 2 at least for the first time) - the concept of the Joust, just touched on [[ I'm thinking that the way I set this up (with the students really starting to push towards this in either 13 or 14) that this part is very grassroots at the moment. I think that perhaps I will have them just introduced to a few things here like the third, when Niko summons his elemental and after the students are told they have no more chances they are shown a bit that goes into summoning the elementals. The episode that follows Niko's lessons they start a bit of training in the second (with it showing in 15 when Aries needs to defend himself) and the first can maybe be brought in 11 or 12 or so, just touched on, maybe the students pick out a weapon to become familiar with, they do some exercises, fail miserably at channeling power through them like Kaline demonstrates. This carries throughout 11-15. ]] 8. I have a notes file with a bunch of ponderings that need to be sorted and examined. Generally this would be better served being done during outlining. Once I start writing details may be missed. But we're still at the general stage so we're good. For now.

Detailed Outline: Parts 1 & 2 Since these things will have many little parts I've decided to split them up into sets of three. Hopefully these next three posts won't grow too much out of control.
Edit: Part two is basically doing what part one does, outlining the scenes, only part two is even more specific in that the outlining is down to the actual scenes. As it stands I'm still largely general in what I have set for each scene. However, I don't know if I will be done outlining in general to do this second step so it is there (as my logic professor says) in the case that I will be able to do part two.
It would certainly help me when I start writing in November though ;p

Detailed Outline Part 1 GENERAL: Overview of the relationship progression. Not going to split up by Part of Act but instead will simply list an overview here. On the Vincent and Kal front: For most of Act I Part I it is just the general air that they're really good friends, especially Vincent's concern over the first signs that all is not right with Kal (his illness). For Part II on the other hand, the focus is on the stuff I mentioned in my previous post, that Niko notices and irritates him. During Part II is when the group is coming together, just as a reminder. Vincent and Aries: Starting in Part II, mostly just spending a lot of time together, trying to contain his lightning elemental. Their personalities are similar, so content on that. It's unfortunate I can only cover 15 episodes because this one hits its first stride in the second half of Part II. Kaline and Niko: Part I they are building on a friendship. Episode 3 is Aries' year three so by then they're on first name basis. And just general signs that they tend to get along. In Part II, this friendship seems strained a little, with the added conflict of Vincent, though in general they start spending more and more time together. Kol and Ara: Part I they are bully and victim and Ara antagonizes Kol. When she ends of burning his arm, Ara becomes more wary of her, has a sliver of not-quite-respect but still something other than derision for her. This doesn't help them much in Part II but as they start working with each other in the group they start working through their problems. They work together on their fire issues under Niko's watchful gaze but for the first half of Part II it's debatable how much they actually "work". Izon, Idril, Sadiko: Nothing much, this is the other pair where the latter half of Act I Part II sets this pair started. Possibly during the infirmary scenes with Aries in epsiode four, or a throwaway scene or two with the three sometime in Part I. Bellatrix and Malki: When they show up just scenes where they appear to be sweet on each other. I definitely want to put them in a tea scene for some reason, somewhere in this story. I don't know why. But it's just so them.Episode 1 - Year One - OPENS WITH THIS: Clarissa and Kryious have a scene here, discussing Aries and world events. (This would be later on in the episode if not ending the episode) Possible Jun and the Nesati family does as well, with Jun questioning them on the whereabouts of Julios, but not sure yet ( Bolding this to make note of it here) - Aries gives tour of Wyverneon from perspective of going there to school instead of having lived there most of his life. Scene plays out like this: Aries has a particular area he's always gone to when he wanted to escape other people. Opening of his eighteenth year he is there, maybe reading, has the offhand thought he ought to be at orientation for new students but brushes it off. Then he is jolted from his thoughts when students he is familiar with (these would be the older years) pour into wherever he is and Aries reluctantly goes to orientation, arriving late and not really caring. - Aries and Ara first meet but have no real contact; neither really know who the other is [[ year 1 & year 2 - peppered with scenes of Kol and Aries being somewhat friends, because they've both been born and raised at Wyverneon (maybe introduce Kol in year one and then in the summer months they interact more?) ]]Shadow Episode - Garniture - Aries, Kol, and Ara spend their summer break at Wyverneon; Ara works to stay there; Aries is given extra attention due to his elemental by professors Trio and Caligari; Because the aforementioned training sessions are private, all this really makes Ara think is that Aries is being favored due to his namesake which irritates him; overall: passive rivalry layer Episode 2 - Year Two - As classes go by the rivalry between Aries and Ara begins to grow (still needs planning here) - [[ year 1 & year 2 - peppered with scenes of Kol and Aries being somewhat friends, because they've both been born and raised at Wyverneon (maybe introduce Kol in year one and then in the summer months they interact more?) ]]Shadow Episode - Grassation - Generally a continuation of Garniture with Aries and Ara clashing more; ends with a verbal fight in which things are said on both sides that probably should have gone unvoiced Episode 3 - Year Three - Ara meets (2) similar secondary elementalists who he sticks up for and they become friends - Aries & Ara: First physical fight, without elementals, as things go on this gets progressively worse Episode 4- (I like 4 for this actually) Aries visits infirmary with series of injuries he refuses to elaborate on but internally counts and classifies as the Master Healer fixes them - Another scene directly related to one above in which Ara corners Aries again but Aries isn't responding to him, Kol tries to intervene, Ara snaps at Kol but backs off when she flinches, though he remembers that response Episode 5- Ara and Kol have encounters in which Ara taunts and teases Kol (takes place over a week or so perhaps) - End of episode five Kol accidentally burns Ara's arm, he becomes furious with her, chases her out of herbology classroom

Detailed Outline Part 1 Episode 6- Chase between Ara and Kol is taking place - Ara has become Sub-S character but this is not revealed until episode eight - Aries takes a backseat to Kol and Ara in this episode Episode 7- Kol makes her way into the school library where she and the pursing Ara run into Aries - Ara and Aries nearly turn the library into a skating rink - Professor Caligari intervenes and orders Ara to the infirmary with friends and that Kol come with him - Aries left alone for the moment but he's irritated so he can't even enjoy it, and maybe just a tiny bit concerned for Kol Episode 8- Aries and Ara: Aries' lightning elemental finally goes too far and nearly kills Ara; this is a wake up call to Aries that he can't deal with this thing on his own Episode 9- Aries: introduced to the VTF during the time that Ara heals rest of 8 and all of 9 Episode 10- Aries and Ara join VTF with ultimatum, Kol already a member

Detailed Outline Part 1 Episode 11- Kol, Ara, and Aries are forced to try and get along. Needless to say this doesn’t go well, resulting in an increase of rivalry. - This is an introduction to the VTF, feeding off of episode ten. - Kol is basically mute and any attempts Niko makes to help her with her fire elemental results in him getting injured. - At the same time Niko is drawing conclusions between Vincent and Kaline and not liking what he sees; interactions with Vincent are tense. Episode 12- Kaline’s illness begins to be really noticeable. In this part, after an instance with Izon, Bellatrix and Malki invite Kal to tea over concern of his health. - Aries and Ara get into another fist fight despite the ultimatum hanging overhead. Kol tries to intervene and one of the boys accidentally strikes her, causing Kol to become momentarily stunned during which her fire spirit takes over and almost starts a wildfire. - Niko arrives on scene and separates Ara and Aries while he talks Kol down into control over the spirit again. - Scenes just before the latter part of the aforementioned sentence where Kaline and Vincent are both altered in some way to the spirit possession (due to their own spirits) and arrive on the scene. - Kaline is irritate and having to mind wipe the crowd of gatherers causes him to nearly collapse, sparking another moment when both Vincent and Niko reach to help and hesitate upon realizing. Episode 13- Scene between Kaline, Sadiko, and Idril, on Kaline's illness (also good potential scene for Sadiko and Idril, if not Idril, Sadiko, and Izon) - After what happened in episode twelve, Niko decides to put the students through their paces instead of chastise them. - He then summons Nactuary and sends the elemental after the students with the order to defeat him or die. - Aries and Ara have the typical rivalry even while dodging Nactuary until Nactuary zeroes in on Aries. - Kol comes to his rescue and drags Ara along, who won’t let her outdo him. Kol devises a plan to entrap Nactuary by making him think they are still fighting each other. - They lure the elemental into a gap between two trees where he becomes stuck. - The elemental vanishes and when the students return to Niko they see all three professors there; the students are told what is expected of them, and that there are no more chances. Shadow Episode - Interlude At The Council - Scenes with Clarissa and Jun and what they’re up to with their storylines. - Lancer and his group make an appearance – with Pharu being an arse, hitting on both of his teammates to Alesiter’s disgust and Thorn’s cold indifference. - Scenes with Michael and Sebastian – introducing Sebastian’s nightmares and Lancer’s distrust of Michael. Episode 14- The students are assigned to a specific teacher in this episode, Ara to Kaline, Aries to Vincent, and Kol to Niko. - Grassroots on the mentor/mentee bond between Kaline and Ara here. - Whole group split up and do some exercises; set on plan to work on and part. - Scene with Niko and Kal over his illness, altered scene from another piece featuring both characters. Episode 15- Focus on the VTF group is light for the moment, back to interactions in the group. - Vincent comes across a strange Void that he spends most of the episode tracking in some fashion. - The students each have some part with Kaline’s illness, though Aries’ is last, along with Vincent's. - Our students are back in their classes, and pseudo getting along. - Mid near mid-end Kaline and Aries are in each other’s company for whatever reason, heading back - to Kaline’s rooms when a Void attacks them. It nearly overtakes them but for their spirits which show up to help. At some point Aries-as-partial-water-spirit heals Kal somehow. - Vincent shows up in the nick of time to kill the Void. - Later on in the same day he reports to Kryious about the incident. - Kryious decides to up the student’s training and the security wards around Wyverneon. - Episode cuts out with Kryious looking out from his office window at the darkened night, with it perhaps raining, an unreadable look on his face.

Detailed Outline Part 2 Episode 1(need scene here somewhere just mentioning other professors than the ones who are named, perhaps just Aries glossing over them or some such)
We open with Kryious stepping into his office where a woman awaits him, Clarissa Marquis. She is not introduced at first but he seems familiar with her. They discuss current events, the rise of the Voids, how the school is faring and then the woman gets to the point. She is introduced (either here or Kryious calls her by name, maybe after she asks a question more pointed to her specific concern) and asks Kryious to keep her grandson (maybe revealed, perhaps not) Aries Marquis busy while at school so that he does not seek to leave grounds during the summer break and that in fact, he can’t be permitted to leave. She won’t say why, but body language implies she is adamant about this last belief. And before she leaves Clarissa promises to attempt to visit when she can. This takes place somewhere between a year or two to the next scene.
Then we switch to Aries Marquis, who is sequestered in the upper balcony of Wyverneon’s Grand Hall, reading a book. He is eighteen years old (mentioned, brief description of Aries himself follows) and is startled a few minutes after this scene initiates by the loud bustle of senior students entering the Grand hall. With a scowl, Aries realizes he is supposed to be at orientation, reluctantly closes his book, and proceeds to the Gathering Grounds. While en-route he plots out a mental map of Wyverneon, noting specific buildings (explaining as a student rather than a resident) and ends up arriving late to orientation but not really caring. Kryious notices his arrival but does not seem to mind much that he is late. During orientation Aries spots Kol but does nothing more than nodding to acknowledge her, thinking to himself that she has also been at Wyverneon as long if not longer than he has (in a resident aspect) though he hasn’t had much contact with her. At orientation Aries runs over what he knows as the professors are introduced (adding his own snarky comments to his assessment). Professor’s Niko and Sadiko (I think?) are introduced as new professors to the Wyverneon system. With orientation done, Aries promptly forgets about school things as they are released and thinks only of returning to his spot and continuing reading.
The next scene happens a few days to a week past orientation (some note needs to be made of this possibly) and Aries is in a class he shares with Ara Kosun, though he does not know this at first. Perhaps this class is the eight week class taught by Battlemaster Caligari. In fact that would be interesting, because then Aries and Ara could be set up to be sparring partners which at this stage means hand to hand, not with elemental powers or weapons. And this is where the rivalry starts because Aries learns the techniques Caligari teaches them, but Ara learns them better in both academic terms and practicality, so when they spar Ara frequently trounces Aries and Aries therefore loses interest in even trying, often letting Ara win since Aries figures he will anyway, so why try? Ara is perceptive of this and it mildly irritates him which makes him spar harder. Luckily this is only an eight week class. Small scenes of Aries and Ara sparring here over the eight weeks, also mark the passage of time. However, make it clear despite the irritation, Ara does not know Aries’ last name. He is not really focusing on Aries as an enemy here. Yet.
The current scene that closes this episode is of Aries watching parents and relatives come and pick up the students that are going home for the summer session. The first year has ended. Aries’ gaze in particular lingers on the mothers, but he merely sighs and eventually goes back to reading a book once he gets bored of watching the students leave. Shadow EpisodeWe open this semi-episode with small scenes from each of our main players, as they wake up one summer day and go about their business, passing within feet of each other but not realizing it as of yet. Ara is the first to wake, he is very organized about getting ready, and after he grabs breakfast in the Great Hall (where Aries will note him from the balcony, briefly recognize him, and then ignore him) Ara goes off to do his duties around the ground – general upkeep things, trimming hedges, that sort of thing, which puts him into contact with Ms. Leine a lot (potential to explore there). Then we switch to Kol, who has been up the entire night before penning a letter. It is not shown who she is writing to, only that she is taking great consideration with the content. When she happens to notice the birds chirping outside her window, she smiles sheepishly, recognizing the time and hurries off to breakfast and to drop her letter in the hands of the nearest Traveller she can find – let’s say his/her name is not mentioned, or that Kol says hello, and the Traveller responds warmly to her, telling her that her letter will go where it always does – and Kol arrives in the Great Hall, slipping behind a column to avoid Ara as he leaves, noting mentally that Ara seems a “rough sort”. She passes under Aries’ balcony and her day continues. Then, Aries is also awake early, possibly overnight though he is neither over tired or especially awake. He sits in “his” balcony and calmly reads, glancing up ever so often as though he is waiting for something. When a distant clock strikes the current hour Aries is in such a hurry to leave he leaves his book behind (specific focus on the book for just a second of so). Then pick up the thread of the episode, Aries meets with Professor Caligari where it is made apparent they will be beginning some sort of training for the rest of the summer session. Aries seems both to not exactly care and pay unusual attention to what Caligari says and does. Later the reason he does so will be revealed.
We part with Aries and Caligari and pick up a scene a month later, opening with Ara helping Professor Trio with something that he needs done. While doing so, and Trio is distracted with something else, Ara mistakenly sees a sheet of paper that he realizes he probably shouldn’t be looking at (maybe it’s Trio’s personal notes or something, just something that Ara would perceive as being perhaps private, and he takes great value in privacy) so he picks it up without looking too much at it, but happens to catch the name “Aries” and takes a second look. Ara reads that Trio is going to meet with Caligari and Aries in order to continue elemental training, and under it is a few mentions of things to remind Aries to work on. Ara infers a few things from this: a) that Aries is receiving special training from the professors, b) that he sometimes showed a lack of caring in class and so this makes Ara frustrated in conjunction with a, and c) that Aries’ last name is Marquis. Ara ponders c) long after he has put the notes back where they belong and parts with Trio. We learn eventually of the Marquis massacre and that Ara believes Aries is being given preferential treatment because of this. It does little to brighten Ara’s mood.
The current scene that closes this semi-episode opens with Izon snagging Kaline for lunch, which he doesn’t seem particular interested in eating/sharing with her but does not resist her grasp. She leads him to a table in the Great Hall where Niko D’Aderci and Kahal Sadiko are already sitting. It is made apparent that this group knows each other and frequently eats together. Izon is called to by some of her students, who she responds to enthusiastically as “little demons”, and Kaline happens to catch Niko watching him. Niko receives a small smile for his efforts, which make him a little bit flustered. This reaction is Kaline’s first indication he does not exactly mind being dragged to lunch by Izon, however he protests he does. Nearing the end of the lunch period Vincent appears from no-where (possibly just as Kaline says he probably should be going to meet him (Vincent) to do whatever it is that they do when they meet (really awkward way of saying he doesn’t mention why he’s meeting Vincent, part of the reason Niko gets the “wrong idea” for a while, which Kal is of course, oblivious to). Some sort of tension is noticeable between Vincent and Niko, though neither comment on it and Kaline leaves with Vincent.
They take a walk through the woods surrounding Wyverneon, looking for signs that Voids are coming closer to the school but finding no worrying signs that they are so conversation turns more casual. There is a difference in mood here, especially in Kaline. Kaline seems much more open around Vincent than he was his other friends and Vincent seems fond of him. They eventually make it to an open field where Aries is waiting. It is revealed here that Aries has a lightning elemental by way of the professors summoning it in a controlled environment (where Kaline binds it to an object and Vincent stands by to kill it if need be, though this is made known to be a last resort as it will negatively impact the student they are trying to help). The elemental is vicious and mean spirited, tries to escape the cage but is not able to do so. The elemental’s actions do not faze either Kaline or Vincent but make Aries on edge, in subtle ways he tries to hide from the professors. He does not succeed especially well, but they do not comment on it in an obvious way, instead allowing Aries to leave early with instructions to do something or another that he can conceivably do but will be slightly challenging to him. Then when Aries has left, Vincent and Kaline pack up what is left behind, commenting on the lightning elemental and Aries, with Vincent remarking if Aries put as much effort into not giving up after he failed in other areas as he puts effort into restraining his lighting elemental, he would be acing his classes. Kaline reminds him that Aries is already doing exceptionally well in all fields but Vincent shrugs and says Aries has the potential to do more and that he doesn’t think that potential should be wasted. There is some sort of indication there are underlying words to his statement, some inference towards his friend that Kaline catches but does not outwardly note, instead smiling faintly when Vincent’s back is turned. Episode 2Okay, so this is where things get a little messy. We’ll have several scenes of Ara and Aries not getting along in the following classes: Sadiko’s (this is a continuation to the eight week course in year one, note that), Izon’s (first instance of elemental language, note that), and in Trio’s class (which they both have more classes in, being both have ice as elementals, and so there will be lesser focus on the first two mentioned places and a lot of emphasis on the last one). As their relationship sours, Aries and Kol find themselves coming into a sort of friendship, maybe as the episode opens they are both reading (or Aries is reading and Kol is penning another letter, she runs out of ink and Aries wordlessly offers her a bottle from his pack, she smiles at him and he nods to her, they return to their perspective activities – this is to indicate a sort of familiarity, they’ve done this often; specify maybe sort of what time of year, second year, this is? With a slight mention, maybe a bit of small talk about the weather and maybe how it impedes growing things for Kol (if still chilly out) or how Aries’ powers seem a bit weaker (if closer to spring ish)?).
[[ EDIT: This is where Ara and Aries really start down their rivalry path. It’s a year pass and Ara is irritated with Aries, Aries doesn’t really think much of Ara either from their previous spats (this is after a couple of instances in this episode) it’s all just headed for disaster. Here Aries starts to really listen to the things that are said about Ara behind his back. He learns that Ara is a secondary elementalist. Aries has a disdain for Ara, but he has a greater disdain for the students talking about him as though he’s worthless, and so Aries acts unconsciously colder to those that talk down Ara, which make students start talking about the “ice prince” again. This reaches Ara and instead of just chalking the talk up to gossipers, being already irritated at the steady drive of hate talk because of his elementalist background (note this has been going for the two years they’ve already been there) so he dislikes Aries more – thinks Aries is doing it for the attention, or whatnot – and generally has feelings of feeling alone and being generally moody. ]]
I said this was getting messy because as for specifics, for this episode this is really all I got. More specific scenes to come I suppose. Maybe this episode ends with something between the professors? More indications of Niko being flustered around Kaline, maybe Vincent notices and sort of coolly comments on it to Niko’s irritation, but nothing that gets them past knowing glances and into like, verbal disagreement. Since I had something between Izon and Sadiko in the earlier episode, perhaps something with Sadiko and Idril here then? Izon and Idril get into their legendary fight, but Sadiko comes between them? Malki and Bellatrix fit in here somewhere? Something with Ms. Leine? Perhaps someone jeers at her and the professors invite her over, generally just accepting her? IDK. Let’s move on.Shadow EpisodeSo Aries knows that Ara is a secondary elementalist, relations between them are sourer then ever, and Aries and Kol have become good friends, more or less. This shadow episode is peppered with more scenes with Ara at his jobs (he is becoming acquainted with Ms. Leine, and will express irritation to anyone who bad mouths her in the future, perhaps getting into arguments with people who do so – perhaps at beginning of year three, this is what the students who are teasing the secondary elementalists Ara stands up for are doing, saying bad things about Ms. Leine – so it’s added fuel to an already simmering pot, Ara will then explode) Aries at training (he is gaining some control over the elemental and feeling somewhat proud of that, which is then upset when the elemental suddenly veers out of control during a lesson and it takes both Caligari and Trio to restrain it, speaking to its power) and Kol is still penning letters but her secondary fire spirit is acting up, adding to her stress levels and keeping her up at night, making her more quiet than ever.
One specific thing here is a scene that comes from the above bit about Aries, after the said lesson he comes into the Great Hall and takes a seat next to Kol, thanking the kitchen staff when they notice him and bring him something to eat. Perhaps they add something, like a sweet roll or something (catch the reference and it’ll make me smile :] ) noticing his down mood or whatnot, and that makes him smile a little. I want this to set up that though Aries is set up as cold and whatnot, he’s not anti-social, or like, mean and rude to everyone. And the people who serve the students and Aries have built up a rapport over the years. Actually, he gets on fine with many of the people who man Wyverneon’s day to day life. But anyway. Then I want Aries to have a more perceptive day and sort of notice more than just himself, realizing that something seems up with Kol. So he sort of offers to be there for her in his usual awkward way but Kol only grins a bit and continually says nothing is wrong. I don’t know if this is in the same scene or not but it’s in here somewhere.
At the end of this episode Ara and Aries cross paths, as Aries is going back to the dorms after a lesson. Instead of just ignoring each other as they usually do, they stop and stare at each other. Someone makes an offhand comment; the other doesn’t take it so well but responds with icy sarcasm (Aries) or dry wit (Ara). And finally Ara has had enough of the fighting they do, subtly and not upfront, and just out and out calls Aries out. Things escalate. Then it happens: Ara makes the casual reference to the Marquis massacre and Aries cuttingly references Ara’s secondary elementalist status in his anger (he probably would have stayed away from the topic had he been clear headed, but he wasn’t, and Aries is finally given the reason to want to hurt Ara as much as Ara wants to get at Aries). Kol happens upon them just as Ara drops whatever he’s carrying (some sort of tool for whatever job he’s doing, maybe pruning shears or something) and is starting toward Aries. He hesitates at the sight of Kol, just for a moment, but enough that his continued advance is halted by Professor Trio who has noticed the little confrontation and intervened before it became something else. Aries receives a questioning glance from Trio but he’s still angry, so he just roughly shrugs in the professor’s direction (much to Kaline’s displeasure, naturally) and stalks off. Kol apologizes to Trio and follows, trying to get Aries to open up but he wants no part of it, leaving her behind.Episode 3In Shadow episode two we have Ara working on the grounds some more and doing other general things, and also the little (but not so little) spat between Ara and Aries. First: Ara is becoming acquainted with Ms. Leine, and will express irritation to anyone who bad mouths her in the future, perhaps getting into arguments with people who do so – perhaps at beginning of year three, this is what the students who are teasing the secondary elementalists Ara stands up for are doing, saying bad things about Ms. Leine – so it’s added fuel to an already simmering pot, Ara will then explode and lose any sense of tact he has (surprisingly enough, Ara does in fact possess a finite amount of “knowing when not to start a fight” he just doesn’t really use it all that often because he’s far more emotionally volatile then say, Aries) and gets into a fight with the students mocking the secondary elementalists. Afterwards he starts to leave, to try and cool down or whatnot, but the two secondary’s stop him and Ara is wary for a while, but they simply thank him, which confuses him but in a sort of good way. Over time they keep following him around (say he runs into them several times in this episode and they end up showing up in four during the periods his confrontations with Aries turn a bit more violent) and they become friends.
Now somewhere in this episode Ara and Aries get into another argument but this one picks up steam from the argument they previously had over summer break. It’s been a while but for the most part they’ve managed to ignore each other and go about their business (they are no longer paired in any of their classes). And then the “truce” breaks. I don’t know what it is yet but I am going to have something reference the previous fight, either for Ara or Aries or both and that causes them to bring it up again. Perhaps Ara’s new friends contribute to the event. Perhaps they are just there. But whatever the case this time words just aren’t enough and they actually physically fight. At first it just seems like they’re rough housing (perhaps this is in the middle of a class or something) but when they don’t respond to the professor currently teaching it is seen to be an actual issue and something that needs to be dealt with. Kol tries to intervene, as at least one of their friends and Ara accidentally mistakes her for Aries, punching her (nearly in the face but for her movement). He’s horrified when he realizes what he’s done, despite the not so great way he’s treated Kol in the past, tries to reach for her but Kol is too shell-shocked to do anything but run away. And in the momentary distraction, Aries manages to punch Ara in the face, knocking him to the ground where the professor interferes before anything else can happen.
They are taken to their advisor, Kaline Trio, as to what should be done with them (remember they both have ice elementals and Kal is the Master of Ice). Professor Trio is most displeased, but instead of passing it on up to Kryious, he instead comments idly that the covering of the Gathering Grounds will need cleaning in preparation for the upcoming Festival (which would place this near one, at the very least) and that if they are not on time for classes the next day they will have “issues” to deal with. This negative reinforcer takes away the behavior the two had been expressing – as the covering is quite large and they are told to clean the entire thing, under Trio’s supervision (which means there will be no fighting whatsoever, and also that the Ice Master will most likely be even less tolerant of BS the next day), which will most likely take the entire night meaning the two will be fighting to keep their eyes open more than fighting each other. This is how Ara and Aries will manage not to fight until some worse event then the fight at the end of Shadow episode II comes up.
In lieu of Aries, Ara and his now cronies, maybe they helped him throughout the day after clean up (Kol never showed up, but her absence I’m not sure what to do with yet – though maybe have Vincent/Bellatrix or someone find her and subtly get the story out and help her decide to go back on her own, maybe she shows up in the middle of class or whatnot and this time Kaline doesn’t say anything to the lateness, just that Kol should take her seat or something) start focusing more on Kol. This is now into the middle of the episode and we’re moving further toward the end, with different scenes of them taunting and picking on both Aries and Kol (though mostly the other two in the first, Kaline’s displeasure is generally not something students try to earn twice, even the rebellious ones) beginning to notice more and more that Aries does not respond, but Kol is. So by the end of part 3, even though Aries and Ara will get into it physically a few short times (the scenes in 4) Ara eventually turns to the weaker target in Kol here on out. And Ara sees that Aries ignores whatever happens to Kol, Kol will never say anything about it to anyone, so (he’s more angry at Aries both on the other stuff and how he treats his own friends, but there’s a bullying streak in Ara too that he needs to let go of, I don’t mean to paint him as “okay”, at frequent points here both how Ara and Aries treat Kol is abhorrent and I wish to make that clear, but also that it’s Kol who decides they can move past it; this is important) that’s how the focus shifts.
One of the end scenes here is the professors strengthening the nodules like they always do (take this as a fixed-interval schedule (after a certain amount of time they weaken or something) and as they do so, they start noticing there seems to be more Void activity closer to the nodules (though what behavior I’ll have to work on). This is worrisome but the Voids are still keeping away, so they decide to watch more vigorously but otherwise see how things go.Episode 4We have several scenes of Aries and Ara arguing here, physical arguments mostly scaled down from anything like in 3 but still quite serious. Aries visits the infirmary many times here, each time refusing to speak on how he got his injuries. At first they make him a little more withdrawn but as time goes on (and maybe he's getting a little more training through the school year hon handling his lightning elemental after the last fiasco) they start to effect him less. Anyway it is the catlouging of these injuries this episode focuses on (not sure what the time frame here is, a week or maybe even a month or so) with small glimpses into the events that triggered the injuries. (more to come)Episode 5So with Aries not responding to him, Ara takes his anger out more and more towards Kol. Eventually, near the end of this episode he has her in tears and when Ara doesn't stop pushing, Kol's fire spirit reacts badly and burns his arm. Kol gains control over the spirit almost as soon as she realizes, but the damage is done. The rest of the class (who are later mind wiped, so the events vanish but they still feel wary of Kol) are shocked and afraid (this happens in Herbology where most are Natural/Physic and Kol is known as Natural/Physic) leaving her to Ara's mercy. Small wonder then, that she bolts from the room. And so far the end scene here is that Ara chases after her, leaving the dumbstruck class to stare after them while the professor rushes out of the room as well (this would be Ms.Leine).
