There exists three worlds that live in harmony. One world, the Otherworld, controls the other two worlds, Astaroth and Drakon. However, Astaroth has no idea Drakon even exists, and vice versa.

That changed about a month ago. The links between the three worlds became warped and twisted due to some unknown force. This caused very strange things to happen.

One of those strange things being that humans are being warped into Drakon randomly and unexpectedly. At first, it was only one or two people, but as time went on, more and more humans started to appear in Drakon.

Not only that, the balance between positive and negative energy erratically shifts. Sometimes the world energy is very positive, sometimes it's very negative. Strange things can happen when the energy is at extreme levels.

Extreme negative levels causes a massive magic overflow, causing a whole mess of chaos and mayhem. Magic used during these times often backfire or do something else entirely. Such as, trying to light a candle could result in either burning yourself, or setting everything around you on fire, or here is a chance that it would work as you intended.

Extreme positive levels causes all magic to more or less cease to work. The spells set in place over the entire world (one such spell is the universal language spell) will cease to work. Not only that, any magic cast period also does not work.

The only thing known is that the Spectral Steppe has something to do with all this chaos. After all, it is where all humans ended up when they were first yanked from their world.

Humans get to explore a new world, and experience new things, as well as try to find a way back home and away from this dangerous place. Demons and devils get to endure this madness and try to find a way to stop it. Though reluctantly, angels also try to help both humans and demons alike.

The World

Astaroth
Astaroth is a very magically inclined world. Not only does it's inhabitants know magic, but the world itself has it's own magic. Due to this fact, those who step foot onto Astaroth tend to have their magic enhanced. The world's magic also tends to make latent magic apparent, drawing out everyone's true potential. However, like with everything, magic always starts out small and grows over time and practice.

As this world is rather old, it's magic power is rather powerful and expansive. For the most part, it only has passive power, but there are areas where there is active magic reservoirs. These reservoirs tend to build up over time and spill over, causing mass chaos in it's immediate area and, most of the time, death and destruction.

It's inhabitants include demons and devils, and sometimes (rarely) angels. Due to being heavily reliant on magic, technology is very near non-existent. Most would prefer to use bespelled items made by the angels and devils. Thus, this makes Astaroth in a sort of medieval age.

Otherworld
The Otherworld is linked to both Drakon and Astaroth. While the link to Drakon runs itself, the link to Astaroth needs to be steadily maintained, due to Astaroth's magic interfering with the link.

The angels maintain these links, and oversee both worlds. When one world gains too much negative energy, they use their powers to create positive energy to help bring the world back to balance. This can be done through the link to the worlds, so contact and visitation to other worlds is minimal at best, and is preferred.

Angels are the only permanent inhabitants here, but devils do come here to work and take care of business. They don't, however, actually live there.

This world is also where the spirits of the dead gather, from both Drakon and Astaroth. The devils from Astaroth oversee the spirits and sort them so that they go wherever they're supposed to go, be it heaven or hell, and not just linger around perpetually.

It's also where "The Void" is located.

Drakon
Drakon is a magic-less world where humans thrive and prosper. They currently live in an industrial age, and live alongside dragons. Whilst humans and dragons can't actually understand each other, they do have a sort of assumed truce. If they left each other alone, then that was enough.

As said, magic doesn't exist in this world. It's physically impossible for magic to manifest, as the parameters of the world refuse to let magic exist. Meaning, if a demon that knew magic found it's way into Drakon, their magic would cease to exist for the duration of their stay.

Races

Demons
Demons are the most abundant race of Astaroth, and outnumber any of the other races. Commoners look nearly human, though, so some may mistake them as human.

All demons take after their animal counterparts, in some way, shape, or form. For example, if the person in question has a white dog counterpart, then they are likely to have white hair, claws, fangs, and be colorblind.

A demon's features depends on if their bloodline is strong or weak. Based on outward appearance alone, you can tell how strong someone's bloodline is.

For a weak bloodline (commoners), fangs and claws are a common feature, as well hair to match their animal's fur/feather/skin color, but that's about it.

For stronger bloodlines (nobility), they have all the features a commoner may have, plus the ears/tail of the animal (or feathers if their animal counterpart is a bird). Not to mention, they will tend to have the mentality of their animal. For example, if a dog demon with noble blood comes across a common house cat, he will instinctively chase after it.

All demons can shape-shift into their animal counterpart, whether they have magic abilities or not. However, when the person shifts, anything on their person gets transported into the void. This includes clothes, jewelry, and anything they may have in their pockets. Bags and backpacks are unaffected.

Note: Never can a demon have wings in their normal-state. They can only have them in a half-shifted, or fully-shifted state.

Demons can live up to 150 years. All demons age normally until around their 20s (it varies from person to person, but only with a +/- 5 range from 20). That's when their aging process slows down immensely, causing them to look a certain age for years upon years. It's not until the 100s (again, it varies from person to person) do they start to look older.

Devils
Devils are a special race that help run things in the background of Astaroth. Not only do they oversee the passage of souls to the Otherworld, they can be contracted out by anyone to do special tasks. For small tasks, they may ask for gold or belongings or even servitude for a certain amount of time. However, for especially large tasks, they will ask for a soul or two in return.

All devils have horns, a forked tail, and a pair of leathery wings. The wings can be hidden away for times when they're not needed. The size of the horns depends on the gender of the devil. Three inches long for females, and six inches long for males. The tail, however, can vary in style. It can be barbed, smooth, etc.

This race is the second smallest race, yet the most powerful. Most people know to not get on a devil's bad side, and generally respect them out of fear or awe.

There are quite a few downsides, however. Their magic can only be used under a contract, and even then, they can only use it for completing said contract. They do have small defensive magic, but it's not nearly as powerful as their contract magic.

They can also be called/summoned at any time, during any activity the devil may be doing, be it, bathing, eating, sleeping, etc. Their free time and schedule are completely dependent on other people, so they have no idea how much free time they have, or when.

They also have a bunch of laws that restrict them from doing certain things. One such law would be they cannot force anyone to go anywhere they don't want to go, meaning, it's physically impossible for them to kidnap someone, or drag them somewhere against their will. The magic of the world stops them before they can even think about it. (I will elaborate on other such laws if asked.)

Devils can live up to 500 years. Their aging process can stop anywhere between 15 and 35. There is no point in which they start to look older.
________

Humans
Humans are not from the world of Astaroth, but are from Drakon. They are the only race to live on Drakon, besides the dragons. All humans have latent magic that they cannot access in the world of Drakon, thus they don't know they are capable of any type of magic, and thinks anyone who claims they can are either crazy or lying.

The humans from Drakon are similar to humans in real life, in that they are quite vulnerable and weak, unless they're conditioned to withstand harsh situations.

Humans can live up to 60 years. They age normally.

Angels
Angels are the beings that humans worship. They live in the Otherworld, the same world the Devils of Astaroth take the souls of the dead. Angels are considered pure and innocent, according to legends and tales. Meeting an angel is a rare occurrence, at least on Drakon, and those who do meet one are considered "chosen" or "blessed".

Angels do have a form of magic, which they use to balance out the negative energy created by humans. However, they do it from the safety of the Otherworld, and very rarely set foot outside, unless it's for something of very high importance.

Of course, Angels have feathered wings, in light colors, which they can also hide away when not needed. Other than that, the only defining feature is that they are born with the fear of getting their hair cut, and from that, some even stem a fear of scissors in general. Not all angels will have long, flowing hair, though. Their hair is 'programmed' to grow to a certain length and stop growing. This length varies on the individual, and isn't picky about gender, meaning, there can be long hair on guys, and short hair on girls.

Angels can live up to 500 years. Their aging process can stop anywhere between 15 and 35. There is no point in which they start to look older.

Magic

Demons
Not all demons have magic (besides their shape-shifting ability), but when they do, it's always some kind of elemental magic. The type of elemental magic depends on the type of animal counterpart the person has.

Dogs/Cats: Have no specific elemental magic, so it can be any of the below, really.
Birds: Wind/Weather magic
Sea Animals: Water/Ice magic
Lizards/insects: Earth/Fire magic
Anything else: No elemental magic.

Devils
Devils have access to very powerful magic, which can only be accessed for a price. However, they can't inact the magic of their own free will. They must first get someone else to sign a contract with them. This contract then allows them to dip into their endless power, and carry out their client's wish, given that the payment is received in full.

If they do not have a contract going, they cannot use their 'endless power', and instead, can only use moderately strong defensive spells, and somewhat weak offensive spells. These spells are 'psychic' in nature, and have no elemental features. As to what these spells are, it entirely depends on the person in question.

Due to their nature, however, all magic cast by Devils creates negative energy, no matter what type of magic they use.

Humans
In the world of Drakon, humans have absolutely no magical ability, simply because their world boundaries do not allow magic to manifest. However, if a human were to step foot into Astaroth, their latent magic will become apparent and start to manifest and grow.

As of yet, there is no recorded information on the magic of humans, as it is only just now occurring, so no one in character should even know anything about it.

However, for reference for the rest of us, humans seems to have a myriad of powers and abilities available to them. They can either have pure elemental power, pure psychic power, or a combination of both. However, their magic isn't that strong. At least, not to begin with. It starts off as a spark, such as being able to light a candle, or partially understand animals, then grows as time goes on and the user practices and pushes him/herself.

Angels
Angels have a nice, pure magic, physically incapable of doing harm to others. Their magic creates positive energy, and is literally one of the few ways positive energy can even be made. Their magic counteracts the negative energy created by Devils. Not only that, they tend to use their magic nullify contracts made with Devils whenever possible, in an attempt to stop negative energy being created.

Angel magic can't be defined very well. It falls in neither the elemental or psychic category. Instead, they have a more spiritual type of power, that can soothe the soul, bless people or objects, and other such magic.

Flora/Fauna

Dragons
Dragons are a big part of the fauna in Drakon, and have lived there even before the humans have. There are many types of dragons, and even wyverns. Each dragon is unique in it's own way. There can be winged dragons, wingless, horned, hornless, spiked tails, or even tailless. There's many different traits and features, causing many different sub-species.

They are an intelligent species, and can even read and write (in their younger years). However, they use a different language than humans, and often enough, most don't even bother to learn human languages. This is because they are too proud to learn such nonsense when they'll never use it, seeing as their interaction with humans is slim to none, preferably.

Muuku
Muuku are a big part of the fauna in Astaroth, and are very territorial. They aren't necessarily aggressive, they just are very protective of their nests and what they claim as their territory, which is usually whole forests.

They are essentially giant lizard-like creatures, and can get to around four stories tall at peak maturity. Unlike lizards, though, they have no scales, and are simply a fleshy creature. They have no facial features or even a mouth. They use their hands to see, touching everything in sight.

However, whatever it touches tends to be 'skinned'. For example, if it touches a tree, it's bark will start to melt off. If it touches a person, then their skin will melt off, etc. Their nests tend to be pools of death and destruction. Though, the wildlife does adapt quickly to a Muuku moving into the area.

Cities

Lythaen
The capitol city of Astaroth, and home to the Emperor and his family. For the most part, nobles and upper class demons live here. Lower class demons do live here, but mostly as servants.

Three lakes surround the capitol, two of which are fed by the Ageless River.

Vanyll
The second biggest city of Astaroth. It's basically a large market with a housing district. It's conveniently located in the middle of everything else, so that it's easy to access no matter where one is located. It's common for farmers and artisans to travel here to sell their goods. All classes live here, and it's also common for devils to set up businesses here as well.

Elwin
The biggest desert city of Astaroth, it lies on the opposite side of the Locke Chasm, away from the capitol and Vanyll. It's built around an oasis, and has a system of caves somewhat nearby. It is the place for entertainment as they tend to throw many festivals, parties, and the like. Not to mention it's one of the very few places to have a harem or two.

There are many small, nameless villages that exist, spread out across Astaroth. Not to mention farms/ranches, too.

Landmarks

Locke Chasm
Locke Chasm is a rather large canyon that splits a large portion of Astaroth in half. In terms of size, it would be about 24 miles wide at it's widest point.

Since crossing it the normal way would be a three-day hike, there has been a system put in place to help cross it faster, reducing the trip from three days to thirty-six minutes.

This system is a magic trolley system, called the Aerial Cart Service, or ACS for short. Simply put, it's a wooden cart that's been magically spelled to float across the chasm in a set path. Although it may not sound safe, it is the only quick and easy way across. Of course, there's a 500 copper fee per person. Groups above 4 get discounted to 250 copper per person. However, the cart can only hold up to 8 people.

Animals and creatures do live at the bottom of the chasm. The most commonly seen would be the Muuku.

Spectral Steppe
The Spectral Steppe is an ancient ruin located on an island in the middle of the Ageless River. While it may look like that nothing is there, it's actually one of many sites of magic pools. However, the magic pool here isn't actually visible. That's because it's a pool that links Drakon to Astaroth through The Void.

There is no written history about the Spectral Steppe and not much is known about it. However, it is preserved and kept safe due to orders from the Emperor. It is an important piece of history of Astaroth, a peek into the past before demons started to populate the area.

The Spectral Steppe is located near the capitol city.

Ageless River
The main river of Astaroth. There are places where it's rather wide, and places where it gets thin. It stretches from the ocean to the lakes around the capitol. It feeds into two of the lakes there.

The Void
The Void is located in the middle of the Otherworld. It actually does have a structure built around it, so one can safely get around without danger of accidentally falling in. It's properties is similar to that of a black hole, but only partially. Whatever goes into the Void, never comes back out. No one knows for sure where it leads to, seeing as it's practically impossible to come back through it to tell the tale.

However, the Void is rather stationary, and if you get close, it won't try to suck you into it. It is linked to the magic of Astaroth and the Otherworld, however, and it's been theorized that the Void is actually the source of all magic.

Whenever someone does something 'impossible' with their magic, it gets sucked into the Void, instead of actually happening. For example, a demon shifting forms while still retaining their clothes/belongings is impossible, as their magic isn't built to shift their clothes/belongings with them. Thus, the clothes/belongings are sent to the Void, in order to solve that problem. Another example would be a Devil trying to use their 'unlimited power' without being under contract. This results in whatever spell they were trying to use to be sent to the Void.

Religion

The Enkeli Church
The Enkeli Church encompasses all three worlds, though is most popular in Drakon. The angels run the church themselves, as they are supposedly good and pure-hearted. The angels are also the target of worship, as the angels have existed long before humans or even demons and devils have existed.

There are a select few angels that are chosen to represent the church on each world. To limit the number that have to interact with other races, there is only one Priest/Priestess per church location.

Though, for convenience, most Priest/Priestess' hide their wings with their magic so they can blend in with the rest of the populace. As a result, very few who attend church actually know that their Priest/Priestess is actually an angel.

The Enkeli Church promotes positive energy, which can be created by doing good deeds. Examples would be, keeping the earth clean, helping others without gain, doing what is right, and other similar things. They frown upon negative energy, which can be created by harming others, adultery, lying, etc. However, they do not bar negative energy being created, as that would make things go off-balance with too much positive energy.

A 'healthy' lifestyle, as promoted by the Enkeli Church, is one that includes both positive and negative activities.

Miscellaneous

The Nobility of Astaroth
The only nobility still around would the noble bloods of the demon race. They have a purer bloodline than most of their kind, and even most of other races. As noted in the races section, noble bloods can be distinguished by their looks. They will tend to have more animalistic characteristics than other demons, both physically and mentally.

Their nobility system is fairly simple. The ruler is the Emperor, the successors are referred to as Prince or Princess. Anyone not either of those three, is referred to as Lord or Lady, nothing else.

Although there is a title for Princess, there is no such title as Empress. Due to their system, there can't be a female ruler. However, they do marry off the princesses for various reasons, such as extending a truce, expanding their control, or simply building on their wealth.

Currency
The currency in Astaroth and the Otherworld are the same, for convenience. A copper piece is the smallest currency, and is equivalent to about three times our penny. There is also silver and gold in circulation. However, most commoners have all their money in copper, and sometimes in silver. Food and items are relatively cheap, meaning a day's meal could be bought for only 10 copper, to feed a family of four. Silver and gold are more of an upper class currency.

1000 copper = 1 silver
10 silver = 1 gold
