Do you keep any particular music CDs near at hand or a playlist of certain music to listen to while you write in November? As for myself, during that time I listen mostly to Final Fantasy symphony or Celtic artists like Celtic Woman or Anuna. I also go to Radio Rivendell. But as soon as it is December 1st I switch to Christmas music, which oddly enough includes more Celtic Woman and Anuna.

Haha, yeah Christmas does have the Celtic Women (playing Carol of the Bells, I believe).
Ohhhh man, I love Chevelle's Sci-fi Crimes. You have no idea. I still can't stop playing it after I've had it for probably half the year. heart Yeah, it gives me lots of ideas!
But I generally cannot listen to music when I'm writing, because it's too distracting. Maybe trance or something. Trance is nice. /nodnod

I often make a novel playlist that reflects and inspires the story which I listen to when I want to think up new plot points. But often times when I'm writing I just listen to music that suits the mood or something very quick and lively when wanting to keep things moving at a speedy pace. (typing wise)
I can't stand Christmas music, it's one of the worst parts of December for me xD
The new Florence + the Machine CD comes out on October 31st so that will definitely be my main music soundtrack!

I have given all of my characters music ;p Lately though I like cycling through this soundtrack while writing. If it doesn't autoplay the entire thing it's the NieR OST. It has some really nice music. The Wretched Automatons has a nice beat for a fight scene too.

I usually make a playlist for the novel, though recently I've been listening to 30 Seconds To Mars's 'This Is War' album while planning.

I'm with Sevi. I can't really listen to music when I write because it's distracting, and I worry that the tone of the music will seep into the work.

I'm all over the place with music. XD Some days, I want high energy stuff to keep me moving. Other days I want something slow and droning. Sometimes my favourite music can get the passion flowing, which is helpful, and other days, it just distracts me with singing. dramallama
And sometimes I like to put on new age tracks of rain, songbirds, etc. because it's background noise without the trouble of lyrics. =3

I guess I take music while writing to another level. This will mark the second NaNo that I'll have used a predetermined playlist to write to. Hey, it got me through last time, hopefully it'll work again, right?
Generally when I write this way, I'll listen to the song once through, thinking of my characters and what I've got going on. Then I'll start writing with the song on repeat. I want that emotion caused by the song to seep into what I'm doing. I generally start with short scenes writing this way too. Small 200ish word things that arc together eventually.
Sometimes it does get a little weird though. Last year I was writing to Jonathan Coulton's Re: Your Brains (a funny song about Zombies) and ended up with likely the most violent scene in the whole thing.
tl:dr: Music plays a huge part in my writing process for NaNo.

if i personally listen to music when i write, it sets the mood. like if it's an aggressive part, i'll listen to rap or screamo or something, if i listen to love music, my novel turns to a more romantic side. my novel follows music. and i also write music that i am trying to encorperate into my novel. therefore my music and novel, if one sells, then the other gets publicity.
don't mind me just felt like saying it finally ^^

It's just missing the e. /end pointless observation

I listen to this playlist. It's all Korean music, but that's good, because I like the music, but I don't speak Korean, so the words won't distract me.

I'm doing Ghost in the Shell soundtrack selections at the moment. I usually use soundtracks -- Yoko Kanno and Bear McCreary are my fall-back favorites, but soundtracks in general are my thing and I have loads of them on my 'puter.
I don't have a pre-determined playlist, I just listen to whatever strikes me at any given moment. If I'm not in the mood for something particular, I use the "Top 50 Played" or "My Top Rated" options in iTunes because both are filled with music I find absolutely inspiring!
I also often find myself writing without any music playing, but it's easier with music because my headphones help block out distractions. :3
