Are there any players here of good old fashioned pencil & dice RPGs such as Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder or others?
Many, many years ago I was into 1e D&D as well as some other RPGs like Robotech, Marvel Super Heroes and Teenagers From Outer Space. Later I got into D&D 3e and now I've graduated to Pathfinder and still hope to find a group to GM through a Marvel Super Heroes campaign.
I'm also working on designing my own ultra simple fantasy RPG system. I hope to condense an entire system, Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Manual, Campaign Setting and a module into 1d12 pages. LOL razz
While I'm on the subject of RPGs, does anyone read the Knights of the Dinner Table magazine (and comic) about role-players? It's hilarious.

I have several characters I use in my stories that come from D&D rp's I did back in 06 and 07.

I used to rp in Dungeon and Dragons. I may end up printing off a few character sheets and work on characters for my novel...I don't know yet though.

I wrote a failed novel into a campaign, it made for a really fun and hectic plot!

I ran in a couple D&D 3.5 campaigns, Exalted, Vampires:the masquerade. I really want to try Pathfinder, but I don't really know that many people that tabletop on campus anymore.

I've been debating whether or not to get the new Pathfinder Beginner Box when it comes out in November but I'll probably be a bit shy on cash and don't really need another distraction from novel writing. Still...

I finally broke down and bought the PDF for the Pathfinder Bestiary. I'll be using it during my NaNo novel but I really can't wait to finish NaNo so I can put together a new adventure module.

I never played, but I used to really enjoy reading D&D sourcebooks because they had lots of cool ideas in them. I remember particularly enjoying some kind of psionics handbook.
I also used to make character sheets for my protagonists, and it helped me make sure they were balanced and not crazy invincible Mary Sues.
