Ever had a favorite NaNoWriMo moment?
I was just thinking about this! On the first day of Nano, my ML, her friend, Karen, and I stayed up at Denny's doing Nano ... and you know how Denny's gets sometimes. @_______@! Well, Karen and I had to charge up our laptops ... thing is, there is NO outlet anywhere! Apparently some idiot kid went and tried putting knives and forks into places he shouldn't. rolleyes Soooo, there is only ONE outlet by the entrance. Karen and I convene ourselves to this small corner, and watch as a small flurry of guests try to pay for their meal -- of course it's like an avalanche of people from some party somewhere! We had NO idea what was going on! We were trying our best to stay out of their way and shield our laptops at the same time!! Agh, stupid Denny's outlets!
Another time was when we were in Panera and there was this weird lady yelling on her phone about ... i dunno ... liberating her people, or complaining about the govt... something! It was weird!! I know I wrote down the notes somewhere! We all did in case we put it in our novel!! xd

My favorite NaNo moments are putting the first word onto the page and putting the last word onto the page. Whatever happens inbetween, however transitory, those moments are definite, if not always what they will be in a final draft.
I also like those moments in between where I get sudden bursts of imagination and write for hours without realizing it. Times like that I feel a little more like my old self and those moments are invaluable to me.

Believe it or not the countdown to start are my favorite NaNo moments. From the time the last Trick or Treater leaves to the time I start typing at midnight. Here in Louisville we have an unofficial dare each year to try and write at least 500 words before going to sleep.
The last couple years I wrote the first sentence of my novel using a Nintendo DSi one year and the Wii web browser the next. Then email them to my Gmail to use in Google Docs.

During my '09 NaNo, I was reading what I had to my roommate all along because she was too impatient to wait for the end of the month when it was all finished. There were a few times when I cut off because I didn't have the next scene written, and she would get all huffy and even more impatient and demand I write the scene.
It was a good motivator, in retrospect.
