I am always running out of topics to write about in my letters to my husband and I was thinking about coming up with a list of topics.

But he would get bored with that.

I want to make a list of a bunch of topics and whatever topic I draw out of a hat I have to write at least 1000 words on the subject.

But I need suggestions.

Do you mean just writing in general, as in for practice? Or are we still on the letters? I have a prompt list I was going to mess with for my little October side project (which I haven't gotten on to yet...) I could list them for you later if you'd like.

All of them came from the prompt links in the writer's forum. I got bored so I picked a bunch I found interesting.

Either or.
My husband is used to me going off on a tangent.
But my main goal is to warm up my brain and get it ready for the long haul.

Righty then. I need sleep now but I should have time later.
I think I like your word limit for them :3
Seems like a nice number to get into something but not go overboard and forget like...the next three days because you're still writing it in your head wherever you go.
...
Not like I've done that or anything ninja

Here you go, sorry it took so long. There are twenty-five of them that I pulled from each month for about two years (one or two from each separate month). It'd be great if I could do all twenty-five in October but so far I'm planning on 4, 7, 12, 15, 16, 21-25 and maybe a few more.

----------

1. Write about an unlikely couple in love.
2. Write about saying goodbye.
3. Write about a broken promise
4. Write about a first
5. Write about a secret message.
6. "Only the good die young." True or not?
7. What's your opinion of altruism? Defend it.
8. What makes a house a home?
9. Write about something old.
10. Have your character make a bad choice
11. Start with "This is just to say..."
12. Write about what you don't believe
13. The color gray is an imperfection of light, explore that imperfection.
14. Write about something hot.
15. Write the same scene as viewed by three different characters.
16. Write about bridging a gap.
17. Write about a sleepless night
18. Begin with "I always knew"
19. Write about love without using the word 'love'.
20. Write about something false as if it were true.
21. Write about resolving a conflict.
22. Write your character's will.
23. Write about a nightmare.
24. Write about a sickness or disease.
25. Write about a pleasant surprise

Thank you for this. I totally forgot to check back here.
I may tweak some of the prompts to more fit my writing style but I am eager to try now.
