My betta, Bozley, is very active, so it really broke my heart to see him struggling in the current the filter would create. So I did a quick google search for "filter baffle" and stumbled upon what I consider the easiest DIY project I've ever seen!

Now there is no excuse for people to avoid filters because they "create too much current"!! Yay for happy bettas!!!

There are alot of ways to baffle filters. This one is one of the easier ways lol

I usually just stuff filter sponges in there, slows it down pretty well =)

I did that for my HMRT boys. =D They absolutely love it. It doesn't look pretty, by any means, but it works. Occasionally Corsair will be a dummy and go swim in the diverted current and get pushed into the divider, but for the most part, he avoids it.

Every time I get a funny look at work from telling people they can put a betta in a bigger tank with a filter, or people fret about the current from some of the filters on their fish or aquatic turtle, I tell 'em to look into baffling. There's no excuse at all to not have a filter for anything that doesn't like a current. :3
