Once again, I have been reminded of how rare girls are when it comes to gaming. On PSOBB I'm in a team of 24 people, and so far, it seems I'm the only real girl (and I don't mean female chara) eek I have asked all active peeps, but none can name a female team member.

Of course, PSOBB has only a small member base and I'm sure that other MMOPRG's actually have girl gamers, but I still find it an amazing fact.

Do you know any girl gamers IRL? If so, how are they like? And what was your reaction when you found out? surprised

And to the females in the guild, how do people react on you being a gamer? Shocked? That's what happened in my case when a fellow male classmate saw me reading a gaming magazine, followed by amazement and asking me to let him borrow some magazines xd

For me, gamer girls are a rarity. Most of my fellow students/friends are more interested in boys, soap opera's and other girly stuff. I only know one real gamer girl, who also happens to be an anime fan, like me. So yeah, I'm pretty much alone in my area when it comes to gaming. Yay for MMORPG's! Without them, I would be stuck playing games with my sibling sweatdrop

yeah, I know what you mean... in math some of the boys who sit by me were going on about halo or something and then I joined in... it ended with me convincing them that xbox wasn't as good as GC or PS2 because there were no good RPGs for xbox... that was fun. only 3 of my friends are gamers but they're all girls which is kinda weird... when other people find out that I'm a gamer they kinda laugh and say "yeah... I just thought I heard you say you were a gamer... what did you really say?" it's kinda sad.

I guess it's the whole steriotypical girl thing.

A few of my female friends are gamers. I dont really know many though but if they were I wouldnt be surprised. Girls can game just as much as guys. 3nodding

I think the main reason that girls are thought of as not gamers is because most games are made by male dominated companies. Just look at some of the women in games. You hardly ever see "flat as a board" girls.

most of my friends are gamers... to the point that I get sick of the games for a day... like the time that I played Tales of Symphonia for just under two days on the weekend.... that was fun.... but.... I guess nobody's very suprised that I'm a gamer if they know my brother, since he's a computer nerd... and I don't tell many people that I'm a gamer.... I just rant about martial arts... xd that gets them confused too... xd

haa haa haa haa haa haa! I went to see that show that your brother did the lighting for last night... appearently his shirts are beings from another universe who are plotting to take over... stuff... or at least that 's according to his profile poster type thingy... haa haa haa! it's not very surprising to anyone that you're a gamer if they know your brother... or even your dad! or even the people yo hang out with... you're just a gamer... and I guess people can just tell... maybe when you talk about MA some weird gamer vibes come off of you and... *goes off onto a huge rant surprisingly not about Anne Boleyn... or kratos*

Tales of Symphonia rocks! That game was so great. I dont play it much anymore. But I want to go through it agian once I have enough grade to keep things I have already unlocked from the game.

I sit next to a bunch of girls in reading and they were talking about games.. Like actual shooters and stuff, I was shocked.. They didn't seem like the type to play video games..

yeah, that's an awesome game! actually, it's my favorite game. I'm an RPG player and ToS is one of the best. if you need more grade just try going back to the earth temple and fight the dragon a bunch with a blue saphira equiped and one of raine's ex-skills as happiness. the blue sephira will get 2 times as much gald and happiness will get you more exp. the dragon will, if you have theese epuiped, will give you 20000 gald and a lot of exp and grade. but you prabably already knew that...

Now-a-days you find more girls into games then you would a few years ago.
I guess you could say, it's finally growing on them. ^.^

I think since now games are getting bigger than they were in the 90s (or..more industrialized...) that more people, including girls, are getting in it or coming out the closet with it. Though it's still hella hard to find girl gamers out there.

My sister plays games. A few of my friends I know play games but they're just the regular pick up, button mash, and next game people. Though I do have a friend I met through Tekken Tag who slapped me silly twice. (and I played her for the fact she was a girl and curious. Now we're good friends and she's somewhat my DDR partner.)

though it would be nice to meet more girl gamers NOT into FPS. I'm kinda tired of the casual CS girl or the Halo fangirl.

You know what? I'm the only female hard-core gamer I know. My best friend plays videogames, but not nearly as much as I do, even most of my guy friends dont play as much as me... maybe I just have no life? sweatdrop

I know a lot of gamer girls.
Mind you, they are not hardcore gamers like I am, but they still play games.
My sisters, my mom, my older brothers ex-girlfriend.
I've even seen a few hardcore gamer girls at the local internet gaming cafe.

I've managed to find quite a few gamer girls out here in northern Illinois. Of course, 75% of those girls are also wannabe emo kids -_-
