RAND IS KIDNAPPED! eek I remember when I first read that part of the book it made so mad. The nerve, really. As the story continues and the reader sees what they continue to do to the Dragon Reborn gonk ....Truly Heartbreaking. What do all of you think about what happened when he finally breaks free? I personally thought what the Asha'man were doing was perfectly moral...an eye for an eye

Well, it may have been an eye for an eye, but think of the carnage. Imagine thousands of bodies exploding near you, guts flying to land on your black coat as the blood gushes all over the place. Rand had been through enough, and was concerned for Min. Imagine poor Min, going through what she had gone through, then seeing the above scene, but in much more vivid detail. Rand has compassion, if only for the ones he loves. Yes, the Asha'man are weapons, but at that point Rand was mere stone, as in later books... Well, I don't know how far you have read, so I will stop there.

hmm...an interesting thought, I generally don't go for the whole carnage thing, but Rand wanted weapons, he got 'em...and remember, Min was crying, her face pressed against Rand's chest...and even he ordered Taim to stop when the Shaido began retreating...

Hmm..this is true, however I'm rather to prone to think that he did get what he asked for in a fighting force that could prove its salt.

I don't know, maybe I'm the most violent of the 3 of us... sweatdrop

And aye to Gaidin...I've read all but the latest ..due to a lack of time

I believe that even though it was an eye for an eye, they took it a little to far, not to mention they could have used the Aes Sedai killed during a later point, seeing as they need all the help they can get when the last battle comes.

I've read up through crown of swords, I need to go and but the next one sweatdrop

I think they got what was coming to them! The Asha'man certainly DID fulfill Rand's expectations, but at what cost to their loyalty to him? Eh, possible spoiler Cause later on, more than half of them want to kill him, and a quarter are probably darkfriends who want to deliver him to the Chosen/DO. But hey, he brought it upon himself, making Taim M'hael (even if he isn't Taimandred). Stupid shepherd.

His kidnapping is one of the last times I feel sorry for Rand though; after that he gets really...aggravating.

he really starts getting that way before that, in my opinion, I really think that perrin's story get rather dull after a while as well, it just becomes the same old thing. Mat, I always liked mat he is one of my favorite characters. what I wish, is that there would almost be more of a story in the Waste, I liked it there. sweatdrop

I would quite frankly like to see what Rand intends for Shara, as well as Seanchan, which is mostly why I don't think RJ will be able to finish the series in 2 books...

to each his own...I don't really have a favorite character...or a not so favorite, excepting, of course, the Forsaken and anyone they're posing as, and generally anyone allied with the shadow...

I don't think he'll touch Shara at all. RJ has said that he's not going to wrap everything up when he finishes the series. As for the Asha'man, they're a fighting force of incredible efficiency, that's for sure. They don't even bother with flashy displays, they just kill. It's very impressive.

that is what rand wanted. they are a fighting machine. Maybe after Tarmon Gaidin, I think thats right, they will calm down, or the next generation of asha'man will be less violent.
