A month ago I bought a new Toshiba Satellite L755 for NaNo since my wife has pretty much commandeered my old laptop to watch her Japanese dramas online.

For the last couple years, just to be weird, I write my first sentence on my Nintendo DSi or Wii using the online browsers and Google Docs.

I'm trying to go fully digital to save my wrist this year, but normally I start, at least, in a one subject notebook. For some reason I have an easier time getting those thoughts down on paper. Then I type them later and generally expand on it.

This year I'm attempting with the computer though. I have my wonderful custom built tower and a crappy laptop to work my magic on. Both are outfitted with Open Office and my flash drive is ready.

It's odd, but I like to start printing neat and small on narrow lined college ruled notebook paper.
Yes. That specific.

I write with two different computers, both old. And I have to save it as a Word/Win '97 document because that's what the older computer uses. But they both work, so I'm not complaining.

I'm going to be writing in my trusty red writing spiral while I'm at school, and then retyping it all on my Mac laptop. … And I might be typing on my phone if need be. xD (So pumped! Literally an hour until Nov. 1, and I have to go to bed instead of staying up to get my first 1000 typed in the first hour. Dx I'll take what I can get though!)

I type everything on my Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook laptop. I love it so much! My notebook is a double wire hardcover one that I always need to have. I swear they're becoming so hard to find nowadays (well, nicely designed ones anyway).

Also typing on my dad's Windows 7 computer. Too bad he has Microsoft Word, whereas my laptop has Word Perfect. It sucks transferring files sometimes. :/

An HP pavillion - although I quite like typing on my little netbook so I might switch to that for some of it. Usually I use word, sometimes I use Ommwriter. I also have a new moleskine that I might use to write in, but moleskine paper isn't great and my favourite pen seeps through, so I'll only write in that one if I find a nice ballpoint.

My faithful Fujistu Lifebook, who I lovingly call Charlie. This thing has been with me for around four years now. We've been through many NaNos together, thick and thin. It's all I've ever needed.

Well I'm typing straight to my netbook, but whenever I don't have it with me, I have the notebook that my half-finished outline is in to write in.

Desktop.
If someone else is using it I type in my phone (a rather outdated Nokia model... but it has a memory card so it's good), or my spiral notebook, and I'll just retype/copy-paste them later into the Word doc.

I suggest Open Office! It's basically Word in like the late 90s UI, but it saves/reads all the Microsoft stuff. And it's Free. http://www.openoffice.org/ Putting it on your comp might cut down on some of your file woes.

Ooh I use to have that! It's okay. Actually, the thing I didn't care for was saving my piece on it because it always took so long. @_________@ I do like that if you right click the selection, it will have the double space right there! Why don't other programs do this?! It's always pushed in the back somewhere under some weird pseudo title like "Lines" or "Paragraph". Or I wonder if I want "page numbering" or "page setup". Ah well. I figure it out in the end. Haha.

Thanks! I totally forgot about that program. I'l have to download it again. Thus far, I am fine with Microsoft Word (until it does something screwy again). Haha!

Let's see:

I'm writing on a Compaq laptop, my desktop, the computer at school, and... a composition notebook. Hooray for little USB drives. biggrin

Writing on a Dell Inspiron Laptop I got for work a few moths ago using Microsoft Word. I have a netbook with some sort of word program on it for when I'm on the go and I don't want to haul my laptop somewhere. And a red spiral notebook that is supposed to be for notes in class but is usually for writing and doodling. XD

I always forget I'm in the minority not having a laptop! I have one of those alphasmart Neo things, which I use when writing out of the house. I like it because it has no internet and does nothing but type, and that is the only thing I will ever use a laptop for.

Otherwise, I just type away at my desktop, but I do write notes and draw character sketches in physical notebooks sometimes when I'm still developing a story.
