 Eric Northman wandered through the dense forest and sampled a plant here and there. He was intensely bored and was experimenting with his diet.
He nibbled on a leaf and promptly spit it out. "Bleh, how disgusting, how do Azerin eat this stuff?" he shook his head and tried to get rid of the taste on his tongue. "Yuck." He meandered further down the faint trail and saw a rabbit, well anything was better then tree stuff. Eric ran after the rabbit and brought it down under his front hooves. He leaned down and fed. It wasn't much but it was better then the vegan alternative. He sighed. Where was a donor when you needed one. He got rid of the rabbit's body and was busy cleaning himself when he heard a noise. He wasn't alarmed in the least, just curious. So he wen to check out the noise.

 Zoey had come across a densely wooded area in one of her midnight walks and had finally decided to explore it. There didn't seem to be any set path so she just walked where she felt like, her vampyre abilities aiding her vision to make each step as quiet as possible. No one could ever be sure of what was in the forest. Her appetite was well suited for anything so she grazed here and there until she heard some sudden movement. Freezing, she looked around worriedly. If this was someone's territory, she could be in big trouble. Zoe hoped her black hide would blend in enough and her blue markings wouldn't stick out too much.

Eric inspected the immediate surroundings and found a black mare hiding not far from where he had brought down the rabbit. Had she watched? Had she enjoyed it? Eric drew his tongue along a fang. Hrm, she smelt like another vampire, but she had no fangs? How curious. He cocked a blond head. She was certainly striking but she seemed very gentle. Perhaps too gentle for his taste. Eric blinked deep blue eyes. He crept closer not really meaning to be as silent as he was.
"Hello." he said in a slow warm seductive voice. It wasn't that he was trying, much, it was just his voice. He wondered if his chosen would like this mare, he also wondered why he cared.

Zoey realized it was another Azrein, a stallion, an attractive stallion at that, she thought. Her worries immediately vanished when he cocked his head in such a way that she thought he was harmless. Suddenly, the air filled with a sweet aroma and she noticed it as the scent of blood. Her eyes widened, sure she had seen the stallions fangs but she wondered what he had fed on. She didn't have to look far before she saw a rabbit. Relaxing, Zoey took in his seductive voice that was smooth like chocolate. "Hello, I hope I'm not...intruding." She said hesitantly. Zoe bowed her head, "I'm Zoey," she said confidently, "Might I ask who you are?"

" No no, I was done," he dipped his head very slightly in her direction. "I am Eric Northman, chosen of the Duke. You smell of vampire. Do you also enjoy the intoxication of blood?" he asked. He was curious, he had to know. The stallion stepped closer, his light coat making him almost glow in the dark forest. He tossed a proud head and one could see his muscle swirl in the moon light.

Zoey nodded her acknowledgement, "Yes I do, though I'm...different." She said with a cocked head. She didn't know how much she should tell this stranger, even if he was the chosen to a Duke. Deciding on a safe route, "I do enjoy the taste of blood and need it to live, but I can also sustain myself through other ways, such as the normal grazing. Granted, I can't only do that, but it can help between feedings." Zo thought she spoke very eloquently and she hoped Eric did as well. She felt some need...a desire to impress this stallion.

"Well you are much stronger then me then. I've tried the green stuff, but I just can't make myself eat it. I wish i could but I can't." Eric enjoyed the lilt of her voice and was pleased that she too was a true vampire, if not bound by the exact same laws as he. He felt connected with her, it made him feel safe. Others never properly understood a vampire. Even one such as she, unless they had been a vampire themselves. It wasn't a lifestyle to drink blood it was life. They could not survive without it. And they didn't have to kill their prey. Could a mountain lion say the same?

"I don't think I'm stronger..." Zoey eyed his muscles, "Just different. I've heard of others of our kind that can't eat anything else either. You can't change who you are." She said with conviction. If there was one thing she knew, it was that. You can't change who you are, you can't change your parents, you can't change anything really, so you just have to make the best of it. She snapped out of her inner monologue. "Is this your forest?" She inquired. "It is very lovely. You can just see the moon straight through there," She motioned with her head, "Oh, its a crescent tonight." Zo said fondly.

"Well its not my forest persay. But I come here sometimes when mine doesn't need me. It is a cresent tonight, I prefer full moons as you can almost see the craters but crescents do have their charm," he winked at her. A bat flew over his head and he admired its erratic flight. Bats never looked like they knew where they were going. He kind of liked the randomness.

Zoey's hide shivered as the bat flew over head. She never had liked the nasty creatures. "Both the crescent and full are beautiful." She agreed. "I have been wanting to explore this forest for quite some time, so will you show me around since you know the forest?" She asked politely, hoping he would give his consent. Not only did she want to see the forest, but she also wanted to spend time with him.

"I would be glad to show you," the stallion said regally. "Perhaps you would like to meet my chosen sometime. He seems to like black mares." Eric started off and began to sow her what the forest offered. Draping vines, swaying ferns and hiding pythons draped the broad branches. The soil underneath their hooves was soft and squishy. Eric narrowly missed stepping on a small hopping creature. He disliked those, they croaked loudly when one accidentally stepped on them. "Watch out for those frog things, they are harmless but annoying," he laid his golden ears back.

"Your chosen?" Zoey asked questioningly. She hadn't spent much time around humans but had no personal aversion to them. The forest seemed magical and enchanted. "I don't like those frogs either, I must agree, they are annoying. I wouldn't want to step on one, they may be annoying but I wouldn't want to hurt anything." She said sweetly. "Are there any really neat places in here?"

"Yes actually, there is a lovely place a little deeper in by the river. The vines dangle down and the vegetation is rich and green. It borders the river and is one of my most favorite places. Would you like me to show you it first? That might be as far as we get though, it truly is beautiful."

"That sounds really nice. If the forest is really big, I wouldn't mind walking it. I've been wanting to explore it so this is my chance. Especially since I don't have to do it alone." Zoey said with a smile.

Eric lead Zoey through the forest and smiled in delight when he saw his favorite place. He loved it here. It was the most beautiful place and only his bond with Edward compared to it.
