Based on the comic with the same name.
Misfits is a dark British dark superhero comedy drama show (phew, that's a lot!) that follows five young offenders forced to work in a community service programme, where after a strange electrical storm they attain preternatural superpowers.
I would definitely grade Misfits as a mature show, for mature viewers, as there's a lot of swearing, sex and the like but not only because of that, but because of the approach in general the series have.
The characters are:
Nathan, a young boy who seems incapable of keeping his mouth shut at any given time and pisses people off. A lot. It gets you laughing. He got done for eating some candy.
Curtis, a rising sports star that hoped to compete for the 2012 Olympics. A serious guy all around. He got done for drug possession.
Simon, a troubled and almost neurotic teenager that's painfully shy but desperate to make friends. He was bullied for many years and he had to do community service after trying to burn down the home of his bully. Nathan constantly keeps calling him "Barry".
Kelly, a very urban girl who has a lot of attitude and does not hesitate to hit people who she thinks are acting dumb or stupid, most of all Nathan. But underneath it all she is a really nice girl who's fiercely loyal (I can relate a lot to her myself). She got done for having a fight outside a store.
Alisha, a party-girl who wants to be at the center of attention. In the beginning she's very superficial and self-obsessed and uses her sexuality to get what she wants. When she ends up doing community service with a bunch of people who are totally different from what she normally would hang out with she loses her front and you get to see her vulnerable side. She got done for constant drunk-driving.
So if you get the chance, watch it!
