Deathly White's Cooking Contest
Starts: NOW
Ends: November 7th, 8pm CST

User Image
Colored by Mindsend

In a house full of hungry goblins, trying not to become their next meal as she hides away from the Queen, Deathly White has grown to become a wonderful cook, with a specialty for sweets, since they sooth the savage hungers of the little monsters that keep her there.

However, she's going to need a little help creating the next feast, and with them growing bored of simple sweets, she needs to make them up to stimulate their little wicked brains. Perhaps she should base them after her favorite stories!

Rules

  • You need to make a Sweet of some sort (Example: Candy, cake, pie, etc) but you need to also make it have literary meaning. Set it up in a display with other goodies to tell a story, sculpt it to look like an edible book, bring a fairy tale creature to life. The possibilities are endless!
  • No Proxies

Cooking time, process, oven temp, etc:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cupcake pans with paper liners.

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add shortening, milk, and vanilla. Beat for 1 minute on medium speed. Scrape side of bowl with a spatula.

Add eggs to the mixture. Beat for 1 minute on medium speed. Scrape bowl again. Beat on high speed for 1 minute 30 seconds until well mixed.

Spoon cupcake batter into paper liners until 1/2 to 2/3 full.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Cool 5 minutes in pans then remove and place on wire racks to cool completely.

Once cupcakes are completely cooled, frost with your favorite frosting recipe or decorate as you desire.

I got the decorations from Bulkbarn (the bats and halloween character shaped sprinkles)

Foods Title: Swept away...
Inspiration: This cake is inspired by three RPs, Maion saves little Pele' as a basket from a storm... before later adopting her. The basket is caught in the roots of a tree before being swept away by the raging waters of the river. Since I am British these are all made with British ingredients.

Cake
225g/8oz plain flour
350g/12½oz caster sugar
85g/3oz cocoa powder
1½ tsp baking powder
1½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
2 free-range eggs
250ml/9fl oz milk
125ml/4½fl oz vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
250ml/9fl oz boiling water

Note: This cake lasts for 4-5 days and is incredibly moist!

1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.
2. Mix all the ingredients except for the boiling water together in a bowl. Beat well.
3. Add the boiling water a little at a time. This will make the mixture very liquid.
4. Divide into two tins and cook for 25-35minutes.
Tip: Allow the cake to cool completely or the fondant/icing will start to melt.

User ImageUser ImageUser Image

Buttercream
Butter
Icing sugar

1. Place four spoonfuls of butter into a bowl.
2. Add the icing sugar a little at the time and cream with the butter.
3. Keep adding icing sugar until it tastes nice.

User Image

Fondant
500g Fondant icing sugar
30ml Water (or replace with fruit juices to add flavour)
Food colourings

1. Sift the Fondant icing into a bowl.
2. Add a third of the icing sugar into the water to form a paste.
3. Add the icing sugar little by little until it forms a dough.
4. Colour as needed.
Tip: Add only a little colour at a time, you can always add more you can't take away. You only really need to buy the primary colours plus black to make most colours.
Red + Yellow = Orange
Red + Blue = Purple
Blue + Yellow = Green
Red + Black = Brown (the more black the darker the brown)
....etc!

Forming the cake
1. Cover each layer with a layer of buttercream. Place in the fridge to harden the cream.
2. Roll out fondant before placing on top of each other. Use your hand to smooth the fondant over the cake, starting at the top and then working your way around the sides.
Tip: Any imprefections in the buttercream layer or lumps in the cake will show through the fondant. Chocolate cakes will also show through lighter colour fondants if rolled too thinly.
3. Build up the cake using the different size layers.
4. Decorate as desired.
Tip: Water is a great glue between the different fondant and icing features.

User Image

Total cooking/modelling time: It took me 7 hours. I have never modelled anything using fondant before so it was rather tricky getting the hang of it.

Great Cooking Music:
If you Only Knew - Shinedown - This song always reminds me of Maion, when he sent Sengdroma off to train but did so in a way that made her believe they were over eventhough he only wanted her to focus only on her training.
Second Chance - Shinedown
The Reason is You - Hoobastank - I love this song! Makes me think of all my lifemated couples.
Call me When You're Sober - Evanescence
Mr. Right - A Rocket to the Moon - This always appeals to my romantic ride.
If only they Knew - A Rocket to the Moon
Like We Used To - A Rocket to the Moon
But it's better if you do - Panic! At the Disco - Always makes me smile

Snow white Snow White stood there in the kitchen with guards mixing the rice crispies with marshmellows. Oh... Poor princess was trying to make rice crispy treats, and didn't know she had to melt the marsh mellows first.
Snow whites creation So the evil step mother offered "Why don't we make a sweet treat?"
The Posioned Apples - Looking so lovely and tasty. Snow white couldn't help but try one.
And there were enough for the dwarfs too - Who knew snow would be the one to kill her own friends?

Cooking time, process, oven temp, etc:
Cooking time: >.> WAY to long. Snow white didn't even know the basics.
But to make the poisoned apples about.. 30-40 minutes. Times flies when you're having fun.

The candy apple mix
A candy Thermometer
1 cup of water - > add poison here
2 1/2 cups of sugar
10 apples 2 1/2" - 3" in diameter ( Clean, dry and free of wax ) You know... because wax is such an issue on apples.

Mix the water sugar with the candy contents into a mixing pot over a fire. Let it boil!
You don't even need to stir, how awesome is that? Then use your magic to lower the flame for a medium heat.

Then cook the syrup to the hard crack stage. Well to test for this stage you have to take a drop of the syrup and drop it into cold water. If it hardens into a brittle thread, then you're good to go. ( Or if you're technologically advanced enough use the candy thermometer 302F on said thermometer.) Cook for about 15-18 minutes from the boil.

Now while all this is happening, you need to put sticks into the apples, magic comes in handy right? Then have a greased surface or wax paper ready. When the syrup is ready remove from the flame and start to dip the apples. Then place then on the greased / wax paper surface.

** The finalized result will not look exactly like the box.

Let harden and then serve!

Thanks for using your homemade poison apple kit.

-- Snow white is an RL friend of mine that fails at cooking >.> She was in the kitchen for 30 minutes, and I go in thinking the rice crispy treats would be DONE.... And she stand there mixing them... in the bowl. JUST LIKE THAT.

Foods Title: Cake of the Goblin Maiden
Inspiration: Rapunzel sort of.

Flour dusts the top of White’s muzzle as she proudly rests the cake in front of the goblin hunters. They pause, confused. One particulary young goblin finally brings up the courage to ask.

“Who….who is that?”

For on top of the cake is a beautiful goblin maiden, and her long, flowing hair catches the eyes of many a young goblin, even in cake form. Her eyes are a stunning red and silver piercings line her green cheekbones. Her lips are adorned with beautiful fangs, fitting for any female.

Deathly White pauses, pretends to be shocked.

“You mean, you’ve never heard the Tale of the Goblin Maiden?”

One of the older goblins snarls.

“Don’t be stupid lady, we’re goblins!”

“But so was she! I heard this tale from an older goblin, who had a golden ring braided in her hair!”

Now they pause, and shuffle awkwardly. A golden ring braided into hair means something. The same young goblin from before shyly shuffles forward. His voice has not yet broken into the rough snarl of the other hunters, and he has only one deathbraid woven with a horses fingerbone.

“Will you tell us?”

Usually they’d snap and snarl, but Deathly White counts it as a triumph that her cake is good enough to distract them.

“She was a goblin princess, strong and brutal. Her father knew she was strong and could overthrow him, so he locked her away. She grew her hair, day by day, until it grew long and beautiful. She brushed it until it shone, and when her father came to visit her, she spoke only about how beautiful her hair was, how she wished she could adorn it, and show the land her beauty, prove that goblins were not all warriors.

And so her father lost his resolve, and let her out.

Her hair shone – with blood.

She was a true goblin princess, and she overtook her father’s throne by blood and honor! He had locked her away and her hair had freed her, but she would bind it with the bones of her enemies, and scraps of their cloth they had once worn!

She would form a new empire, and she would be QUEEN!”

The goblins roar their approval, and descend upon the cake.

Deathly returns to her kitchens and wonders if any of them realise their queen has long hair braided with bones and cloth.

She chuckles.

Probably not.

The last one has uh – see that red-yellow icing squiggle? Says TanuKyle. c:
I kinda suck at cake decorating, haha…>A>; But it TASTES AMAZING.

Cooking time, process, oven temp, etc:

Ingredients: ( this is for an 18cm, 7” deep cake tin.)
Batter:
3 large, free-range eggs (They have to be free-range. :c think of the poor chickens.)
175g softened butter (unsalted or lightly salted, eithers fine, I prefer lightly salted though.)
175g caster sugar (make sure it doesn’t have lumps)
175g self-raising flour! (or plain flour and add yeast, but I don’t know the amounts for that.)
REALLY-STRONG coffee. Espresso or liquid coffee. You can also use coffee liquer if you want a kick to the cake. (3-5 tbsp for batter, judge by eye for the icing. )
100g-ish crushed walnuts. Again, adjust for taste.

Icing;
Um, these quantities are kind of dependent on how much icing you want, so I didn’t put them. 8D; But the ratio for butter:icing is 1:2, so for every 50g of butter, 100g of icing sugar, ect ect.

Butter, Icing Sugar, more liquid coffee.

For decorating, anything and everything you like. *u*
I used silver balls, hundreds-and-thousands, and writing icing, and the top of the cake I cut off.

Method:

Preheat your oven to 180 celscius and line/grease your baking tin.

Melt your butter a tiny bit in the microwave on a medium/low heat so it’s not dripping but it’s really really squishy. Mix your caster sugar in.

After than mix your eggs in, making sure to beat them first.

Then add your coffee.

With the walnuts, it’s best to process them – you want them eeny-weeny, especially for fussy kids (or brothers, in my case.) If you are planning to serve this to kids, keep the coffee-amount LOW, 2-3tbsp max.

Mush that in.

Cook for around an hour (adjust per your oven.).

After it’s out, (okay resist eating it) mix up your icing.
After it’s cooled, cut off the top so you have a flat top for your icing.
Cut it in half, sandwich together with buttercream-icing-thing.
Paste the rest of the buttercream-icing on.

Decorate.

EAT.
CRY IN JOY.

Magic Apples

Cooking time, process, oven temp, etc:

Apple Cider: I just cut off the top, cored and spooned out the middle of the apple. Than I made an apple cider packet and poured it into the apple.

Apple Cupcake Recipe:
Ingredients:

- Red velvet Cupcake mix
- Red frosting
- 8 mini doughnuts (I used regular cake doughnuts)
- 4 Tootsie Rolls
- Light green Airheads
- Red decorating sugar

How to make it:

1. I used a red velvet box cake mix and followed those directions

2. Cut doughnuts in half, horizontally.

3. Cover doughnuts with red frosting, sprinkle with red sugar, and place them in the freezer.

4. Cut the Tootsie Rolls in half and bend them so they look like stems.

5. Cut green Airheads into leaf shapes, so that the crease of the candy becomes the middle of the leaf.

6. Once your doughnuts are chilled and firm, place one on the top of each cupcake. Place the stems and leaves in the middle of each doughnut.

7. Do any touch ups to make doughnut and cupcake look even. I put red frosting around the bottom of the cupcake and put red sugar on as well.

Larger Version of Last Image

Cooking time, process, oven temp, etc:

I took two packages of classic white cake mix and colored one batch with cocoa powder, put them in their pans and bake them at 350 degress for 30 min for each tier.

For the smaller apple, I covered a chocolate chip muffin with red icing and red sugar, then decorated it with tootsie rolls shaped into a stem and leaves. The larger apple is a chocolate apple also covered in red food coloring and decorated like the smaller apple.

Placed the larger apple on the cake after drizzling some strawberry syrup on the cake and serving plate. Served slice with apple muffin.

The rose is from the garden and is not edible.

Cooking time, process, oven temp, etc:
I used this recipe for the cake part, but switched out the truffles for cherry pie filling.
The icing was a simple mixture of powdered sugar, egg whites, vanilla and butter. (It was a pain to get the thickness right!) I colored it with red and brown food coloring to get the brain color.

So I baked the cakes per recipe, then added the cherry filling with a piping bag. Then I piped on the icing to look like brains ^_^

Cooking time, process, oven temp, etc:

Chocolates:
Ingredients~
White chocolate wafers – melted
Red chocolate wafers - melted
Various molds – Lightly greased
Lots of fridge/freezer space

Painting the Roses Red:
Using a toothpick, take just a little of the melted red chocolate and spread it around the bottom of the rose molds. For variation in appearance, use a small dollop of red chocolate on part of the mold. Use the toothpick to help smooth out any air bubbles that may have formed along the bottom of the mold. Allow to chill for 2-5 minutes so chocolate can set. Then fill in rest of molds with white chocolate, again checking to make sure are air bubbles are “smoothed” out. Chill for 2-5 hours then pop out and serve.

Hearts:
Fill heart molds with red chocolate. Make sure you lift the mold up and check the bottom for air bubbles, smooth these out with a toothpick or by tapping the bubble out. Chill 2-5 hours then pop out and serve.

White Rabbit:
Using a toothpick, very carefully color in a thin line of red chocolate to give the bunny’s ears some color. Stash in freezer 2-5 minutes so the chocolate can set. Then fill rest of mold with white chocolate and let chill for at least 5 hours (because these molds are Thick and we do not want our bunny falling out in pieces). Once bunny comes out of his mold successfully, use a little blue icing to give his eye some color.

Clock:
Take one Golden Oreo and roll in melted white chocolate until fully coated. Once chocolate has hardened apply small amounts of icing for the main hours on the clock and use colored tooth pick for hands.

Homemade Buttercream Icing:
Ingredients~
½ cup Butter
½ cup Crisco
1 lb Powdered Sugar
3 T Milk
1 t Vanilla

For the icing you start with ½ cup/1 stick of butter and ½ cup of Crisco and blend those together. Once you have a nice smooth/creamy texture you can add in the powdered sugar, the milk, and (very liberally) the vanilla. Blend together until you have a smooth cream of even consistency and then separate into small amounts and start experimenting with food coloring!

Cheshire Cake/Caterpillar Cupcake/Mushrooms:
Ingredients~
Butter Cake Mix (Duncan Hines)
3 Large Eggs
1 Stick of Butter
⅔ cup water
Buttercream Icing
Gummy Worm
Gummy Fruit Halves
Fire Ball
Orbit Chewing Gum
Tooth Picks

For this I made use of a yummy boxed butter cake mix from Duncan Hines (because it’s delicious and tastes like pound cake). I combined the mix with 3 large eggs, 1 stick of butter, and ⅔ cup of water. After about 4-8 minutes once all these ingredients were blended nicely together with an even consistency and I poured/scooped them into a pre-greased and floured bowl as well cupcake pans. For the cupcakes I left ample room between each treat with hopes that the batter would puff up and flow over the sides for the desired mushroom look.

I allowed my items to bake at 350° for about 20 minutes (closer to 35 for the cake), checking them with the classic toothpick method to see when they were finished. Afterwards I removed them and allowed to cool before applying icing.

For the Cheshire Cake I started with a nice base layer in blue and added the muzzle and stripes in purple/dark blue icing. I cut up a packaged brownie into the appropriate shape for his ears and added the icing. His eyes are made of gummy candy and his nose is a fire ball. His teeth are made of Orbit gum so he has his nice flashy MAD grin. Add a few colored tooth picks for whiskers and voila – Cheshire Cat Cake!

For the cupcakes I used either pink or blue icing for the base and added white icing spots to give it that nice mushroom look. I also added a blue/pink sour bright crawler to stand in for the caterpillar.

Um, can someone come help me eat all this food? sweatdrop

Foods Title: The Pearl Bed
Inspiration:
The Pearl
Once upon a time,
In a land by the sea,
A treasure was found,
One that would chance the life
Of the one who possessed it.
It was a pearl, so large and white,
So pure, it reflected the light,
But looks can be deceiving,
For the pearl was not a blessing, but a curse.
Those who held the pearl in their grasp,
Soon learned of true suffering.
One woman, who had lost it all,
Cast the pearl into the ocean,
Where it sank to the bottom,
Surrounded by shells,
The pearl had cracked,
To reveal a dark disturbing essence.
It was the blackness of greed.

Cooking time, process, oven temp, etc:
Cooking in Progress, Chocolate Covered Stage, Chocolate Stage with Writing, Pearl Throne

Complete Cooking/Creating Time: 3 hours and 30 minutes

User ImageAngel Food Cake:
Turn oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit , pour cake batter into the two different pans, one long bake for 35 minutes, make sure to use Pam or butter on the pan, so the cake will come out easy, I forgot to do that and had an interesting time getting the cake and the pan separated. Let the cake cool before removing it from the pan.

User ImagePlace the larger cake onto a cookie sheet, and then place the smaller cake on top it (because I had issues with the pan and cake not wanting to separate, I folded what was left of the cake to create that mound you see in the picture). Once stacked, I took the green and blue chocolate I had previously melted and poured it on top of the cake to represent the watery abyss that holds the pearl.

User Image

The shells:
These actually took me more time than I had thought they would, mostly because I only had only one mold for all the shells. I melted the chocolate, following the directions on the bags and then used a spoon to place the colored chocolate into the molds. Refrigerated for a few minutes until they were hard and then I removed them from the mold and placed them on a plate. I repeated this for quite a while until the plate was full of colorful shells.

The Pearl
I was actually thinking about using left over brownies I had made to roll into the pearl, but I had accidentally over cooked one of the bowls filled with chocolate for the shells and created a more frosting like substance, I used that to create the base of the pearl. Once it was sold, I rolled it in white chocolate to make it more resemble the pearl it was supposed to be. Then I added the crack with a knife at the very end.

Foods Title: Braiiiiins
Inspiration: Original Story; twisted fairy tale:

Deathly White strode over to the gathered goblins with a darker quirk of a smile than the sweet mare usually had.
"Once upon a time..." Her soft voice carried through the small thicket like a whisper, "There was a handsome young king and his beautiful queen. All through the land hailed the couple as the kindest and most generous king and queen that the land had ever seen. They were concerned for the wellfare of their people, and for the grandeur of their kingdom."

Deathly White took a narrow breath, her small frame almost seeming tonot be able to contain the ominous tone she was setting. "But the stars did not bode well for this happy couple. The beloved queen grew ill, her body withering and wasting away as each day passed. The king was distraught, and called for all the healers in the land to come and try to save his dying queen. He promised them wealth... land... title... but each one turned away with a mournful shrug, saying that their medicine could not save her. Then he called for the wizards and witches... sorcerers and mages. Men and women who once he had persecuted. He begged them, offering them redemption, hospitality... if only their magic could save her. And yet just like the healers... they mournfully shrugged, saying that even their spells and poultices could not save the dying queen." Deathly White paused again, letting her words linger in the room like a cold shudder.

"Then, as the queen was nearly at death's door itself, a small, hunched woman approached the kingdom with a limp in her step. She asked to see the king, and spoke in a voice like death itself:
I cannot save the life of your dying queen. The fates have already spoken to her fate. within a fortnight she will pass from this world to the next, and not the greatest sorceror or most talented healer can stop this fate.

However.

While I cannot save her life... once she has passed from this world to the next... I can bring her back. But there will be a price.

The king did not care - he was overjoyed to hear this pronouncement. He promised he would do anything - anything to save his queen. He asked the old woman what she wanted - gold, jewels, land, anything. But she just shook her head and told him that after the deed was done, the king would know.

Still, the king did not care, and so he agreed with the woman.

She sat by the bedside of the ailing queen, watching her grow weaker and weaker and weaker. But she never left. She just sat there, humming a strange tune, and crocheting. And then, just as she pronounced, in precisely two weeks time, the queen passed.

The king was desperate, begging the woman to bring her back. And once again, the old woman warned the king that she could do such a thing - but there would be a cost. The king dismissed her concern once again, begging her to help him.

And so the old woman sent the king from the room. And from within he heard strong voices such as surely could not come from the frame of such a frail woman. He heard crashes and saw lights, and then, the old woman slipped quickly out of the room and said simply... it is done.."

At this... Deathly White went to retreive a plate, covered with a cloth, setting it before the little goblins that had held her for this time, but kept them from tearing off the cloth just yet.

"But all was not well, as the King rushed into the room. There his bride stood, on her own power, with a gleam in her eyes... but while it looked like her... it was not the same woman. There was a hunger in her eyes, a darkness that clung to her. She smelled of the grave and even her loving husband stood stock still in the doorway. But... how could he not love his queen?

He rushed to her, wrapping his arms around her. But she was as cold as the grave, and with a strange c**k of her head she looked to her husband, and spoke in a stringley voice:
"So..... huuuungry..."

At first, the king was overjoyed. She had not had an appetite since she had taken ill. He fetched for the servants to bring her food. But everything was ash in her mouth. The finest wine, exotic fruit, meats... there was nothing she could eat.

And then, as the king was petrified that she had been brought back just to die again... she turned to one of the servants..."

She whipped off the cloth from the meal set before them to reveal a round fruit carved into the shape of a brain.

"And cracked open his head as if it were a mere mellon, and scooped out what was inside... eating it before her aghast husband."

The little imps dug for the sweet fruit, cackling and chortling in amusement at the vile treat as the tore apart the sweet fruit that had been shaped like a much more insidious treat. It was sweet and delicious, but appealed all the same to their wicked natures.

"But the king did not leave his bride... she turned to him with blood-stained lips, dabbing it gently as she looked to him, looking healthier than she had in months. And his heart melted. Now the king knew the price that the old woman had foretold... but he did not care. He loved her with all his heart... even if it meant having to feed her dark hunger."

Deathly White finished her tale as the little goblins finished their meal. She was safe... for another day.

I bought one of the personal-sized rounded watermellons and shaved it completely, exposing the grey-white rind-flesh.

Then I carved with a paring knife the division down the center and the swirls and folds to make it look like a brain X3. I used a wooden skewer for the finer details smile
Carvin' the brain :3

The red innards of the watermellon give it the fleshy/bloody look (as does the juicy runoff on the plate)..

And when you carved into it to eat... delicious and disturbing! 8D partially-eaten

All in all, it took me a few hours smile

Rolling out the fondant, Gold lettering before it got infected by green sprinkles, Cupcake/munchkin land with only purple frosting on it, All of a sudden it is assembled....(totally got into putting it together, forgot to take pics for a while! Dx ), pic in the dark, to show the green flame candles of Oz!, Spine/sideview of book, the brown is supposed to be the binding,

Cooking time, process, oven temp, etc:
List of things used:
  • Lollipops/suckers
  • Cake mix
  • 7UP (it's diet cake!)
  • Fondant
  • Frosting
  • White chocolate
  • Food coloring

I started by making the fondant the night before I worked on the cake. Having made fondant before, I knew it would be the thing that took the longest since it can be finicky. (powdered sugar, water, gelatin, glycerin(if you can find it) )

I set the fondant in the fridge to chill overnight (bad idea, it gets rock hard and doesn't want to be molded the next day...).

The next day (Saturday), after work, I went out to get the rest of the ingredients I would need, this was a harrowing adventure filled with temptation and I did not escape without giving in to it...but you know, I totally needed those lollipops so, at least I didn't just buy 6lbs of candy for nothing! : D

Anyway. I took my booty and returned to my home. From here, I discovered my fondant magically turned into a brick was rather hard to work with when cold. Quick thinking had me putting it in the microwave for a few seconds and that softened it enough that I could work with it again.

With the Fondant Crisis solved, I got out a bowl and mixed the cake up, using only the cake mix and half a bottle of 7UP. I had never done this before and was worried I would do it wrong so I had a back up cake mix just in case. (It is surprisingly tasty, and it worked out well!) When nothing exploded I decided it was safe to use the other mix for the cupcakes I was also making. Once done and poured into their pans, I threw them in the oven at 400F and waited 20 minutes for the cupcakes to be done. The cake took another 10, but finally they were finished.

Now, I had not really thought about how long it takes a cake to cool...so, in the interest of time I have this one I prepared earlier so I can continue the demonstration put it outside with a towel over it. It was about 35 degrees so it only took 15 minutes to cool.

To skip some boring parts, I rolled out the fondant, threw it on the cake, cut the excess off, and then started writing and putting the chocolate icing along the edges. Everything came together pretty quickly after that, and by quickly I mean it took about 2 hours when i thought it would take the rest of the night. The Dorothy doll is made of chocolate that I killed by stirring it too much so it turned to sugary clay...the castle on the back right corner is supposed to be Oz, and is also made of chocolate (so is the ruby slipper!).

The yellow brick road is edible spray color, that smells kind of like spray paint so I'm wondering if it is actually non-toxic or if it is a cunning secret baking weapon to be used on your enemies...so are the trees. They are actually green tootsie roll that I twisted and then sprayed with green spray on edible color. They could also double as the wicked witch melting, because the color NEVER DRIES and any attempt to touch them leaves your fingers covered in green dye. I was contemplating trying to make a lion out of one of the lemon tootsies, but didn't end up with time. (Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!)

Munchkin land is a cupcake painted in rainbow frosting with lollipops stabbed into it. Outside of the chocolate castle Oz, the poppy fields are made of green glitter herpes sprinkles with little ball sprinkles thrown on top to look like flowers. Really, the glitter sprinkles attacked the letters and in retrospect I should have put the sticky stuff on -after- the sprinkles.

All in all, it took me about 4 1/2 hours to get it all together. I had a lot of fun, and my little dog helped me by standing in front of my feet at all times, occasionally laying down on them. I could not have done it without her! I would not be nearly so good at -not- tripping with hot things in my hands if it weren't for her.
