I've had a busy day cleaning house and having my parents over for dinner. I'm finally sitting down to write at 7pm and my wife is next to me watching her Japanese TV shows on the laptop. That makes it a little hard to get in the mood for a Victorian steampunk fantasy. Oh well.
What's distracting you today?

My biggest distraction is my 4 year old, it never fails that he never wants or needs anything until I sit down to write, then and only then does he need something. It never fails. That and my husband playing a first person shooter on the desk beside me very, very loudly.

My sister is participating, too, and it's always 'Can you check if this is okay, Gwid?' while I'm writing, so I always have to go off and read her writing, which is really distracting me. She has 10000 words and I have 5000 because of her.
And my little 4-year-old sister is sick so I have to look after her.
AND EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING ELSE IN MY LIFE.

Family emergencies. I swear, if somebody else gets violently ill, tries to die, or another house burns down, I'm going to have a mental breakdown!
School is bad enough. NaNo I can handle. But the family emergencies are killing me!
Please no car accidents...or falling down stairs...broken bones. Please just keep my family safe and healthy!

Mine's not so horrendous as others, but... my cat demands attention by sneaking into my lap. My writing computer is on a desk which has no room for a keyboard and the old bulky monitor. I have my keyboard in my lap, and then...
Fortunately, I catch her at it before too many cat-landing-on-keyboard accidents.

And here I thought I had it bad by being stuck by tvtropes and Ben Drowned! I hope you guys don't have any more catastrophes (or family injuries- that sounds terribly stressful, Aurin!).

Yeah I came here to post that tumblr keeps distracting me. Then I read everyone's posts and was like wow, I have it easy. I've got no excuse not to finish this year. xD

Tali <3 It's a sort of fanfiction drabble thing, in the Dragon Age universe, but I absolutely love them. Me too, actually. I know I don't get how to do it though. Whatever I tried ate a few of my posts until I untangled them emotion_donotwant

Well now I'm distracted by everything, because I've (already?!) reached the point where I hate absolutely everything about my book and my writing style and have no desire to continue. I'll keep writing, though, 'cause it makes my family happy. And also because I think my BFF may punch me if I quit. Supinelu Tali <3 It's a sort of fanfiction drabble thing, in the Dragon Age universe, but I absolutely love them. I'm not familiar with the fandom or the writer, but that is still cool. Writing 50k worth of drabbles sounds like it would keep things interesting, instead of having to stick with one story the whole time. I have a friend who did 50k+ worth of fanfic last year, but I think it was all one story.
