More than 10k into my novel, and my main character randomly decided to switch genders on me. After I already wrote a scene with her (now him, if he has his way) jumping into bed with a different guy. gonk Why, oh why couldn't you just have been happy with being a chick…? I'm fine with the sudden gay romance, but this SO was not planned. At ALL.
WHY ARE YOU DEVIATING FROM THE OUTLINE, ALLEN? WHY?
(Perhaps this is what I get for naming a female character Allen. I should've known better… ._.)

Oh man. That's gonna be some agonizing editing to do when you go back to the first half of the draft later, replacing every "she" with "he". xD

Waltzkrieg Oh man. That's gonna be some agonizing editing to do when you go back to the first half of the draft later, replacing every "she" with "he". xD I know! Dx It's making great fodder for random stuff, but I've never had my characters rebel like this before, and I want to edit everything now instead of later. My poor outline….

It's like what's happening to my FMC!!! Although there's precedent for that.... She dies and comes back as a guy named Jordan pike >.>
In your situation: Rebel back! Don't let your character take over your novel on day 5! That's not supposed to happen until at least halfway through! although an entire conversation stemmed from a bit character who was supposed to be nothing more than a name developing a personality of her own.. <.< If in doubt, use it for comic relief!

Your situation sounds fantastic, just saying. xD I wish I had that excuse! Mine doesn't die and come back, she's (he?) is just such a gender ambiguous character that s/he could really be either gender and I wouldn't have to change the personality at all. >.>
xD Right now I'm sticking with scenes that make no reference to Allen's gender at all- that way if I do decide to listen to him/her, I won't have to edit out so much at the end of the month. Hopefully I can figure it out before then though- at this rate I might just have to take out every single reference to gender and leave it up to the reader to figure out. xD
