I know that this guild is meant for expressing our creative minds so I feel that this isn't breaking any code or hidden rule of this being only about our own poems and stories and what nots... I've read so many poems, some that made me feel as though I could never forget the story they've told while others faded away to the back of my mind immediately. But I wanted to share a poem that I felt struck me in a personal way, I've read this poem out loud at gatherings and I still remember it word for word. It is a poem by William Blake called,
Poison Tree.
I was angry with my friend:
I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe:
I told it not, my wrath did grow.
And I watered it in fears
Night and morning with my tears,
And I sunned it with smiles
And with soft deceitful wiles.
And it grew both day and night,
Till it bore an apple bright,
And my foe beheld it shine,
And he knew that it was mine -
And into my garden stole
When the night had veiled the pole;
In the morning, glad, I see
My foe outstretched beneath the tree.
I don't know about you but this poem has a story that I feel a personal attachment to... When has one not felt animosity towards a loved one and then against someone one hates? Next time someone angers you remember, there's revenge and then there's forgiveness... which will you choose?
