Personality: Laid-Back/Easy Going: Travis lives the way he wants and you can’t tell him otherwise. He’ll tell you he’s a grown man and is responsible enough to make his own decisions. He tries to live as laid back and he tries not to let things bother him too much. If a problem lingers, he fixes them promptly. He likes to go with the flow and set his own pace.
Knowledgeable: Luckily for Travis, he enjoyed school and graduated with honours in High School. He had attended the first year of business school but dropped out after the first year, much to his parents’ disapproval. When he was in school, he used to do mindless research and loved to learn about whatever was on his mind that day. He is well versed and knows at least a few bits of information on any given subject. However, since dropping out his lust for knowledge has decreased. After getting involved with “dangerous shenanigans’’, he’s had a lack of interest in learning and some of the topics he used to find interesting. If you asked him about something, he’d probably give you a very brief, half-witted response unless you showed genuine interest in the topic. In a daily conversation, you would not think he was the smart kind of guy.
With his knowledge from mindless research and first year business, Travis works well with money. Although in his current state he is dirt poor, he is very concerned with keeping track of what was spent, what needs to be bought, budgeting, retirement plans, and other related things. Funny enough, he spends all this time working on paperwork to check how much money he can blow. He is a gambling man, but doesn’t bet if the odds are not in his favour.
Reliable (men): Travis is very loyal and reliable when it comes to helping others. He likes to help, but he does not like to help himself (unless he’s helping himself to some money). If you have a problem, he’ll be there for you to talk with. If you need help, he’ll be there to fix it. He’ll never double cross you and he’ll never back down against his word.
Player (female): The major drawback in Travis’s smart and money wise personality is that he likes women so much that each week is a different flavour. He can’t be bothered to settle on one girl, but hiring a whore is a waste of good money. He tries to act the hero, seduces them, and stays in the relationship as long as it can without another girl knowing, purely as a sadistic joke. He is never upset when girls get angry with him and leave. He says it’s rather ‘comedic’. This quirk of his gives him the façade of being of the hot college dropout rather than the nerdy business man. He changes girls up often so not to be heartbroken again when someone he deeply loves no longer loves him, for whatever reason.

★★★ History
During Highschool, Travis was still a player, hiding his excellent marks and quirky, nerdy hobbies. He acted similar in High School as he does now, which led him to gravitate to the wrong group of friends. These friends’ families were involved with the city gangs and it stirred up some mixed feelings in Travis. Eventually, he himself got involved, which made him drop out of business school with near-failing marks. From the third year of high school (17), he was involved in the same gang as his friends (Group A). Almost as if in a Romero and Juliet spin off, Travis’s girlfriend since Grade 9 was involved in the opposing gang ( Group B). The school was their safe-haven, as it was with many children in gangs who were still students. When Travis graduated and went onto college, he found out this his girlfriend was killed by one of his best friends from high school. He dropped out of college at this point and went home just to beat up his friend who was admitted to the hospital for severe injuries. The gang disowned him for loving someone of the opposing group and for almost murdering one of their own. The other gang , gang B,would not let him in because he was involved with a gang A.
Suddenly regretting dropping out, as his gang life was over, he was offered a job as a ‘spy’ of sorts by another underdog group who stole intelligence and money from both sides. Travis agreed, hating both groups he was involved with.
For the next six years he was the con man to all groups of the city; spying, stealing, mugging, spreading rumours and causing them to meet up and fight each other were all parts of his new job. He was paid a pretty penny for every successful heist, raid, outbreak in violence between other groups and murder he was involved in. The new group Travis was involved in was an intelligentsia who used the groups hatred for each other to pull strings and make money off the violence and hatred between them by fixing situations in which they will never stop a long state of hate. For example, they would steal from Group A and tell them Group B did it, causing them to fight and it would let Travis’s group stay hidden.
After the six year involvement, Travis’s group was found out and a city wide ‘war’ broke out between them. The ‘war’ involved Group A and B to merge to fight Travis’s, while A and B also fought each other because they were opposites. The war ended when the leader of group B and the intelligentsia were killed, and the killer killed. A lot of members from both groups were killed and Travis ran rather than chance getting caught (though he was not being chased by the police. I guess the police in this town sucks). The remaining members of the groups did not rise to power and simply stopped being involved, almost as if it were a game. People from opposing groups would often get into small disputes on the street, but nothing big and no re-groupings were ever carried out.
Travis, out of a job, used a small portion of his money he scammed from group A and B to afford a trip on a ferry to a far away island to leave his past life and love behind. Once there, he dyed his hair and forged ID’s with a fake name. The fake name would be “Travis Harley” (He plans of getting it legally changed). He booked into a three-star hotel and stayed as long as they would have him for. In the first few nights, he was given a cup of tea by a strange mister(.)
and was followed by the shadow of a bird. It paranoid him, that bird, and he thought it was his tangible past coming to haunt him.
Although he grew accustomed to having the bird linger to constantly remind him of his past and make him regret dropping out of school (again), (T)he hotel threw him out after three weeks. He travelled into one of the poorer districts and rented out a road-side-hotel like place, where we find him today.
He has yet to get a new job.
★★★ Purpose for pet
Travis's "deep desire" is to turn his life around. Hayle will be a uninvolved mentor of sorts, in which Travis will need to learn to make decisions that will benefit
Hayle, as he is only a child. Making him care for a child (which is a harder than than it's cut out to be), teaching him how to be committed to something, and forcing him to make good decisions is how Hayle will help Travis indirectly.
Since Hayle is good at picking up the lies in Travis's voice, he will often scold him on his decisions and make Travis rethink his actions. He will not be directly involved in Travis's 'player' life, and instead mock him and make him think about what he's doing.
In their relationship, even though Travis is the 'father', Hayle will have moments where he has to 'mother' Travis. Scolding, comforting, and being annoying will be his motherly 'duties.' He is very mature for a child to be doing this, but he is smart enough to understand how Travis feels about his past and will pour salt in his wounds to make him learn.
Why would Travis need to be
comforted?
In the beginning, I imagine their relationship to be rocky with Travis often ignoring Hayle. After a while of being around him, Travis will learn and be guilty of his past and will need Hayle to help him manage and be there for him when he realizes all the bad decisions he's made in the beginning with Hayle.
It's actually a really cute picture in my head.
Aside from teaching Travis to make better decisions, he will also help him settle on one female. Though as stated above, he will not be directly involved with Travis's love life, the words of a concerned child is harder to bear than anything. Hayle, after being annoyed at Travis's actions of wooing any girl with tits, will be angry at him for some time. When Travis gets 'bored' with 'playing', Hayle will teach him and help him settle down with one lady.
Travis is a 'player' because he does not want to have his heart broken again. If he doesn't 100% love someone, he doesn't have as high of a chance to be depressed after them. Actually, sometimes he finds breakups comical or relieving, because it means he can go wee that other lady he was eyeing at the bar.
