Santos was meticulous when deciding where to send the groups. With little information to go on, and only his years in the force to guide him, he decided to that the city and neighborhood were the best places to focus efforts. While other areas wouldn't go unchecked, He was fairly certain an attack would be geared toward high population areas.

The chief had decided to keep Pita and Kaiden's party in the city, closer to the sea port. Moisture in the air here might make it more difficult to do any good scent tracking, but there were a plethora of talkative dogs near the port to make up for the lack of trails. Perhaps they will have some information?

Things to keep in mind:
❥ This isn't meant to be easy for your dogs. They will not talk to just one dog and suddenly know the meaning of like, the universe, and everything (42)
❥ Police dogs, you are the leaders of your group. This means you have to help make decisions about what to do and where to go. Do not god mod, but be aware that the other dogs on your team probably don't know what they're doing in terms of police-work.
❥ Outcasts, it is more important now than ever that you consider consequences. You are now in a small group with two or more cops surrounding you. Either watch your step, or be careless and see where that lands you.
❥ If you have a question, quote DarkHeartedSorrows so that I know to check. Otherwise, you're free to roleplay and interact and formulate plans. I will occasionally fall in with prompts to help you out.

Kaiden snuffled along the floor as they headed towards the sea port, searching quietly for any signs of unwanted danger. His ears were constantly rotating, as well, and he made use of his eyes whenever they weren't focused on the ground before him.

"There doesn't seem to be any sign of them around here," he reported to the others before moving on to a location further up, his voice louder than usual to travel the distance between them. Santos was with them, along with Blayze, and although the latter wasn't a police officer, she was a dog whose strength and speed he trusted. This was a team he held good faith in and looked forward to working with... for the most part.

Pita was another story, and he could sense the Pomeranian near, his presence large despite his physical size. It was an over-awareness born of conflicted feelings, from admiration (that the small dog had managed to make it into the force despite the struggle his lengthy fur and stature no doubt gave him) to empathy (as the male's confidence was reminiscent of his own youth) to... concern. The small dog's open admiration of Santos along the way had been unnerving, to say the least.

It never failed to shake Santos up a little, the way his officers looked to him as a hero. How had he come so far, from a broken puppy in a trashcan, scared and abandoned, to a leader and a force to admired? Why should he, of all dogs, bear the weighted honor like he bore the weight of his vest. He had an idea, but he refused to dwell on the emotions and self-realizations that had brought him to this point. He doubted many of these dogs even knew the basics of his past, let alone the details. Santos remembered far more than he would have liked.

As they neared the port and he could hear the crash of salt-laced water against the saturated wood of the docks, he slowed his pace, scanning the area. This area of the city buzzed with the labor and hard-earned luxuries. the occasional boat horn blared near by, but it couldn't drown of the teeming thrum of life in the sea port. No wonder Santos enjoyed working in the city so much.

Turning to Kaiden, he nodded. "Nothing out of the ordinary here, but we'll be able to gain some information from the dogs around here. They don't enjoy the threat of violence here any more than we do, and if they know anything, they'll speak."

Blayze was just a little ways behind Kaiden. She wasn't so much as sniffing around as she was watching. She was working on using her eyes more than her nose for there were some telltale signs of trouble or in her occupation's case a missing person or dog that could be seen and not smelled. She didn't notice any unusual behavior in the dogs around here. She didn't pay the humans much attention; after all they wouldn't be part of this attack.

She made sure to sniff the wind, to get its direction and to see what it was carrying with it. "No strange smells in the wind. Ah... I love the smell of the sea." She said with a grin. She also loved swimming in it, although it was a pain to have to get a bath afterwards.

it helped to have a female in the group.

A large, muscular husky with bedroom eyes swaggers up to Blayze with confidence. He seems more interested in her hot bod, but perhaps if she uses her feminine wiles....

Oh sailor dogs, more brawn than brains.

Pita’s eager little tail moved furiously back and forth, thrilled. Here he was, on an important mission, but with Santos, the man that he admired and revered with the utmost respect. He was just so strong, so great, incredible. In his small turquoise eyes, that man was everything that he dreamed to be of someday. So, even though he absolutely loathed the sea port, his admiration for the Great Dane overpowered that hatred. The Pomeranian ignored how the air seemed to cling to his coat in an unenjoyably manner, and all the other miniscule details about the port that annoyed him to no end because of the male that he looked up to so much was there, in the flesh. This was no dream.

….

Or was it? the black and silver ball of fluff sat down quickly and pulled up one of his front legs, giving it a little bite. If this was a dream, then surely he’d wake up when he bit himself, yeah? It made sense…At least in his mind. Luckily, for this situation, the slight sting of pain from his leg told him that indeed, this wasn’t something that his mind has fabricated in the midst of a slumber.

Hoping that he didn’t look like too much of an idiot, Pita briskly got back to Santos’ side, his petite limbs attempting to mimic the Great Dane’s longer strides, but to no avail. Frowning, he decided to match the pace of the other male instead, reluctantly giving up on matching the large dog’s movements. When he tried doing that, he fell behind, and hell, he’d rather stay next to the dog instead of behind, trying to match his every movement. So, he sacrificed accuracy of copying for speed, his quick little legs going double the speed in order to keep up with Santos.

When the white male spoke, the soot colored pom looked up at him, thinking that he was talking to him. And why wouldn’t be talk to him first before all the others? After all, he was just so amazing, almost as awesome as Santos. Why, it would be completely illogical for the guy to not do so! All of the other group members were worse than them, of course. They would have to have things thoroughly explained to them, and everything! It was a waste of time, really, when they could do the job themselves.

Noticing that those words weren’t directed at him, but at Kaiden; Pita gave a mini snort and glared at the Husky. Oh, so Santos would rather talk to the other dog than him, as if that stupid officer was actually better than him. Well, that wouldn’t do, not at all! He would have to prove his worth to Santos, to show that he was better than everyone here! That was the only course of action here, obviously. He couldn’t just ignore someone else being above him that wasn’t Santos!

Huffing, the jealous Pomeranian ripped his gaze off of Kaiden and went back to looking up at Santos. “So, you want us to question the dog’s here to see if they’ve noticed any suspicious activity or dog’s about?” he asked, his feather duster of a tail rapidly going back and forth as he attempted to look like the star pupil of the group. Take that Kaiden! Unfortunately, he didn’t notice the other canine that wandered up to Blayze for all of his focus was on the Great Dane next to him.

Kaiden nodded in response to Santos' words, an ear flicking towards Pita's reaffirming question, before turning to inspect the area again. It was sprawling with busy humans and dogs alike, as ports often were, with crates and boxes being carried to and fro and heavy ropes being pulled in the calloused hands of men. He nearly puffed with pride, seeing all these hard workers that contributed to and were a part of Summerwood, and was saddened to know that there existed those who wished to harm them. But the knowledge strengthened him, too, as now, he was even more determined to stop the attack before it could taste even a lick of success.

"That would be unexpected, coming from you," he said when Blayze spoke, glad to see the female grin despite the situation, as it would have been a sad reunion indeed had they both spent the time gravely serious instead, "if I didn't know you any better."

He gave a joking wag of his tail, his words a reminder to them both that when they had met, it had been she that knew of the town's rivers, and she that had helped him safely step into one without being swept against a current that would have proved fatal to any pup.

Never forgetting what they had come for, however, his tail slowed after a moment and his sharp eyes scanned the port again, for despite the bustle of work, he was sure there would be some dogs on break, a few of which, he hoped, would be more than willing to help out.

At first, it appeared that his hope would come true, for another of his breed soon approached them. His confident gait showed promise, at least at first, when it was assumed it belonged to a dog who would rather help the police and held no fear of any threats the outcasts made. But then, instead of turning towards the well-known chief, or any of the vest-clad officers, he sauntered over to Blayze, with obviously different intentions in mind.

Kaiden started towards them both suddenly, then halted just as quickly, the sight almost comical to any onlookers. At first, he had intended to intercept the two, but Blayze's strength was not easily forgotten and he didn't think she would appreciate any unneeded help, should any even be required in the first place.

Still, that didn't mean he would try nothing. Recomposing himself, he looked to the male with steady, almost challenging eyes, calling out a, "Hello, sir," calmly as he did so.

Blayze grinned at Kaiden. "Just because my name is associated with fires doesn't mean I don't like the water." She said remembering the time they had met as pups. She was the one who had led him to the river to get clean and then helped him out so he wouldn't be swept away.

While she was talking to Kaiden her eyes kept darting around to keep watch on the dogs around them. So it was surprise to see the large husky walking up to her. She could tell that he was interested in her and if she had a more feminine dog she might have been able to work some charm on him. However her eyes darted to her group with an almost confused worried look.

Hearing Pita's question to Santos made her realize she could still try to question this husky, even if she wasn't good a feminine wiles. Taking a few steps towards the husky she ducked her head as if shy and lightly wagged her tail. "I bet you know your way around here and know the dogs about. Would you mind if I asked you a few questions?" She then looked up with her eyes but didn't raise her head, "Like if you've seen any out of place dogs here?"

The husky was... daft to say the least.

His confidence wasn't in the least deflated by the presence of the other husky, entirely focused on Blayze. He only mutter a distracted, "Yeah, hi, whatever," and returned to turn on the smolder at Blayze.

"You can ask anything you want as long as it gets us somewhere private, sweetheart."

Perhaps it was a little wrong for Santos to be amused at the circumstances, but he was. He watched the husky and Blayze with a small, private smile, and even had the insight to glance at Kaiden. Hm... haha.

At Pita's question he turned his head and nodded firmly. "That's going to be our best bet. These dogs spend months on the sea, so they're tough. That means they don't shy away from venturing into areas that other dogs may avoid. There's a chance that they may know first hand what's going on."

Kaiden twitched his ears at the other's disrespectful response but, for the moment, he minded very little. When he had met Blayze, it was during the time when impressions were easily made, and inflated, too. When he was younger, he thought the female capable of anything and, although as an adult he knew that such a trait was impossible, he had yet to receive any proof otherwise. Until now, that is.

Lips pressed together, he held back a laugh at the shephard's evident lack of experience when it came to taking advantage of her gender.

Blazye was sure she didn't want to go anywhere private with this sailor dog but she still looked to Kaiden and Santos to see if they wanted her to. After all it seemed the husky was only going to talk to her if she did and she could probably hold her own against him. She however caught sight of Kaiden trying not to laugh and glared at him. "As long as it's not too far away from here. I do need to stick close to my friends here. You see we're looking for something." She said stepping a little closer to the husky.

"Well, we'll talk here and then move elsewhere, yeah?" The husky's eyes shone mischievously as he gave her a once-over, and his lazy grin widened. "There are some crazy strays in this part, if that's what you're looking for. I saw one g- umf!"

A hulking Akita had knocked the husky out before he could say much more, but the result was that he was no out in the open. He glared at Blayze in open challenge, his normally tight-curled tail low in open aggression. This would undoubtedly escalate no matter what happened.

Read the battle thread and attack! This dog could be a part of the stray pack and needs to be taken down!

When it's HP hits zero, I suggest you use a restraining collar.

Please only attack once, then wait for me to post again.

The smile that had graced Kaiden's lips instantly vanished when a new Akita joined the fray. His ears did not tilt back against his skull but, instead, pressed forward, showing his own strive for dominance in the field.

He knew Blayze could take care of herself, but one-on-one, he didn't think any dog would get off without some wounds, and the husky maneuvered himself closer to his friend, along with the enemy, glad to see the burly male from earlier had been the Akita's first target, rather than Blayze herself. He realized that, based on the Akita's actions, there was a high chance of it being a stray and although he'd preferred to have completed his mission without any bloodshed, he knew that it was a very low possibility, and he wouldn't risk the safety of his peers and friends in a fruitless wish.

He gave a warning growl first, the sound low and dangerous. When it produced no suitable result, he lunged, attempting to still the other's aggressive actions.

Blayze thought about it for a mere second and nodded. But the male she had been talking to had been knocked out. "HEY!" She shouted at the Akita. Seeing the Akita so aggressive brought a defensive growl from her. She noticed from the corner of her eye that Kaiden had moved next to her. "I don't think there's any talking to this one." She said softly. Soon Kaiden was moving in trying to attack. She quickly followed suit and tried to knock the legs out from under the big dog.
