Santos was meticulous when deciding where to send the groups. With little information to go on, and only his years in the force to guide him, he decided to that the city and neighborhood were the best places to focus efforts. While other areas wouldn't go unchecked, He was fairly certain an attack would be geared toward high population areas.

Santos ordered Pippin and Kogeta Yuki's team to the farms, but asked them to stay to the northern parts, closer to the edge of the city. In the farm lands, soft fertile soil makes it easy to look for strange prints, but also absorbs scents. Perhaps this will help?

Quote:
You may only post here if you are the owner of:
❥ Pippin
❥ Kogeta Yuki
❥ Chuckie
❥ Suchesparen
❥ Doyle

Things to keep in mind:
❥ This isn't meant to be easy for your dogs. They will not talk to just one dog and suddenly know the meaning of like, the universe, and everything (42)
❥ Police dogs, you are the leaders of your group. This means you have to help make decisions about what to do and where to go. Do not god mod, but be aware that the other dogs on your team probably don't know what they're doing in terms of police-work.
❥ Outcasts, it is more important now than ever that you consider consequences. You are now in a small group with two or more cops surrounding you. Either watch your step, or be careless and see where that lands you.
❥ If you have a question, quote DarkHeartedSorrows so that I know to check. Otherwise, you're free to roleplay and interact and formulate plans. I will occasionally fall in with prompts to help you out.

Doyle reached the northern part of the farm lands and stopped. He sat down and waited for the rest of his group. He yawned after a moment and glanced around. He didn't see or smell anything but that didn't mean that couldn't change. He had no clue about the strays that were behind all of this. In fact it would surprise him if he even knew the scent of one of them or even knew them. He kept to himself and barely interacted with other dogs. Why he was doing it now was beyond even him.

This was Officer Yuki's first time in the farmlands. His serious frown brightened after seeing Doyle already in position. "Hello." he barked placing his bottle of water on the grass. "Remember to keep an eye on your surroundings because anything could happen." he informed the Labrador.
He smirked. "So you're a wanderer huh? Must have been a burden to be alone."

Doyle looked as the one who introduced himself as Kogeta Yuki walk up behind him. "Yeah yeah. I always keep my eyes open." He said tilting his head a little. Did the akita think that being alone was a burden? If so he was wrong. It was only a burden to those who let it be. "Yeah I wander wherever... but I don't find being alone a burden."

As they arrived at the farms, Pippin took a deep whiff of the air, filling his lungs appreciatively. "Ahh, smell that fresh farm air," he murmured. "The grass, the sheep, the cows, the corn- I was born out here, you know," he remarked to Officer Yuki, "But I haven't been back in... oh, ages. Since I was a puppy, really. I can't imagine that we'll run into too much trouble all the way out here; it's such a long distance from the city proper that it would be very hard to get, say, a large pack gathering. What I think we might run into is scouting parties. It's pretty easy to raid a farm for food, and fresh chicken tastes a lot better than garbage. In addition to checking the ground for tracks and scents, we should try and talk to some of the local herding dogs- see if there's been any unexplained stock loss. That kind of gossip travels fast out here. What do you think, team?" Pippin wasn't going to make any move without the group's contributions and approval.

Suche padded up quietly, not saying anything immediately. She liked the open spaces, and there were plenty of new scents to send her sensitive nose quivering. She listened to Pippin speak up, regarding the smaller dog with solemn respect. Despite her own large size, the doberman did not judge anyone on size. The smallest dogs she'd met were often the snappiest scrappers, tearing into anyone who they felt deserved it. Not that she expected that of all small dogs, of course, but it just went to show that size and breed meant little when it came to who was capable.

She was willing to allow Pippin as the farm expert, since he clearly knew more about life out here than she did. She was a city dog to the core. In a very soft voice, she replied sedately, "I'm willing to go along with that." Her tail was still wagging steadily behind her, or what was left of it. She wasn't completely hyper, but she was on the edge of ready. She wasn't sure yet how she'd be of any use, but her nose, rescue instincts, and long legs surely might be of use somewhere in here. "I'd be willing to check around the livestock for signs of the outcasts." Though low, her voice was confident. Searching was something she did well!

Doyle cocked his head listening to the much smaller officer. He did sound like he knew what he was talking about. "Sounds like a plan. Just tell me where you want me to look... I'd rather not have to question anyone. Don't think they'll take too kindly to me. I think they'd open up more to someone more..... professional." He didn't mention the fact that he himself has raided some farms before. Never chickens but he did like going after corn and other vegetables.

Officer Yuki nodded, "It must be hard though, I mean always taking care of yourself and finding shelter when its stormy." He shuddered at the thought of rain.

Turning his attention to his fellow officer, he said, "Sounds like a great plan Pippin! He shuffled his paws in excitement, ready to begin his task. "Who shall be assigned with who?"

"Hmm... Well, you and our Dark Stranger seem to have hit it off pretty well," Pippin said, mulling it over. "How about I take Suche here and start looking around the big sheep farm- that's the area I know best, so we'll have an advantage there- while you guys head the other way and... let's see. There's a cattle ranch around here that's also got a really big chicken operation. That might be a good place for you to start. And- if something goes wrong, which I hope it won't- we should have a signal. A howl followed by three short barks usually works well and carries a good distance; it's what we use when we're casing the woods. Unless you've got a better plan; I just think this is a pretty good division of our group's resources."

"Alright Officer Pippin." he barked, tingling at the feeling of being with Doyle. "The signal sounds just fine, first Doyle and I shall patrol the ranch and possibly obtain some chickens." Just thinking about the savoring taste of chicken blood made his lips smack with drool.

"Great. Sounds great." Doyle muttered seeing how he was now stuck with 'Mister It's Hard to Be Alone', "Signal sounds simple to remember." He began walking in the direction of the cattle ranch, it wasn't hard to figure out where it was going by smell. It smelled really bad there.

"You know Officer Yuki.... It's no trouble to take care of yourself with no help and it's easier to find shelter than you think. Also I don't think you're supposed to eat the chickens. You are on duty and all.... and what you said sounded a lot like you wanted to steal some chickens...." Doyle sighed wondering how the heck he ended up this strange officer.

Chuckie from inside a distant haystack. So they were splitting up? Excellent. That would make Chuckie's job even easier. His tail wagged furiously at the thought of ganging up on them one by one. The pitbull surveyed the two pairs that had split off. A Lab and an Akita, or a Doberman and a Corgi. The choice was easy. He eyed the corgi officer with an evil glint in his eye. Why, he wouldn't be more than light snack! Chuckie thought. The Doberman might be a problem, but he had handled worse. MUCH worse. With another giggle, the pitbull dashed out of the haystack and off into the shadows of the barns and farm houses.

"Well maybe you should teach me one day Doyle. I mean, every dog can learn something new each day." he said, following with his supplies. He sighed a bit. "Yes, I do admit wanting to have some of the chicken...its just that I haven't had anything but beef in my kibble lately."

He hid the fact that he was once about to join Hazard's pack, but refused to abandon his duty as an officer. Or maybe he's planning to actually join... Where his loyalty lied was unidentified.

As Pippin sniffed the air for unusual scents, something in the wind caught his nose. The smell of another dog, but not the smell of a dog who'd spent his or her life on a farm. No, this dog-scent was mixed with the smells of the city, with oil and trash and exhaust. It wasn't the smell of the rogue they had with them, but similar. And fresh. Very fresh. Far away- possibly left yesterday, or even the day before that, but still... it might indicate that this area was being used as a hideout. "Suche," he said to the Doberman in a quiet voice, "Do you smell... something a bit off?

Doyle looked at Officer Yuki with a brow raised. "Really? I suppose so." He said shaking his head, "Then tell your human about it somehow. Don't ask me how just figure it out on your own." He looked around trying to see if there was anything unusual... not that he would know what is unusual out here. Sniffing the air he got a nose full of nasty cow smell. "Great. We're almost to the cattle farm."
