"The stars are beautiful." Amerika said softly, her long golden hair glowing from the bright rays of the sun. She sat herself gracefully down upon a white blanket, arranging her dress folds carefully around her legs. In all things she must remain a lady, she reminded herself as she gave her husband a soft, gentle smile. She had been born to be his wife, trained to be the lady he deserved, and she would not fail him now. She watched him searching the area they'd decided to stop for lunch in, and she felt a blush appear on her cheeks. He had always been so protective of her, hiding the dirty things of the world from her, and she felt that love still in every action he did. "Would you like some tea, love?" She asked sweetly, her voice holding a musical whimsicality to it.
"The stars are beautiful, but the sun queen is the most beautiful here." Gabrial replied, looked at his woman with a sigh before he continued looking around the small clearing for a few more moments in silence. He had grown use to her eccentric ways of speaking, about the day as though it were night, and the night as though it were day. The seasons were the same, though he was glad she had kept her wits with the times and days of the week. Otherwise, he was sure he'd be frontside backward and upside down by now.
He was cautious to listen to the woods to their left, noting any sounds from it and making sure nothing seemed suspicious. He couldn't be too careful about their surroundings, not now. Before he had died, his only worries for Rika would have been bandits but he could have driven them off easily before. But now...now, they were not even able to live in the kingdom any longer. Because of him. All because of him,
He could not allow anything to befall Rika after she had given everything to give him back life.
His tail flicked slightly to one side as he waited, listening, then he seemed content to relax and walk back to the picnic Rika had prepared for them. "Thank you, M'lady." He replied as he curled around her back, half on and half off the blanket. "No sugars, and a spoon of honey, if it please M'lady." He blinked up at the sky, taking note of the clear day they had been blessed with. "The sun is very pleasant today."
Amerika laughed happily, nodding. "Indeed, but not so pleasant as my dear husband is." She countered, turning a bit to give his cheek a kiss. "The sun or stars, the moon and sky, none of them can best mine husband in my heart." She fairly purred, running a hand through Gabe's fur happily. "None can best my dear, brave knight."

It was from these quiet little woods that a tune would softly drift to the ears of anyone nearby. At first a simple melody, quickly followed by accompaniment of a stringed instrument of sorts. As the source drew closer the melody came into focus; a human's voice and actual words, the instrument - a lute of sorts- coming across now as clear as the man's voice.
"-A king in brown and grey, Look down on the foolish man, Competing with time. Chasing his precious day.-"
There was a beat of silence and then the music shifted. The man was beyond the tree line at this point, clearly visible to any who heard him. As the music came back in his stride changed; longer and elegant as he all but waltzed to the beat of the song. He wasn't foolish enough to wander around with his eyes closed, but he might as well have been for all the attention he was paying to his surroundings. The only thing that seemed to deserve his attention was the sky above, bright and sunny with occasional puffy white clouds.
"-You're flying on wings of serenity, Into the blinding light. You're flying on wings of serenity, Living life at it's height.-"

Gabrial gave Amerika another fanged smile, the best his beastly body could do when given orders from one prone to human emotions. He knew what a frightening sight it was, to see a kage smile, but he could not help what his mind tried making his face do. His memories kept bringing him round and round again to the many kage he'd captured and disposed of in his short career as a knight of the kingdom.
Once, when he had been practicing ways to control his new body, he'd tried to count the times he'd mistaken such a smile for a snarl. At first he'd found it hard to tell the difference at all, his then he'd picked up the fine details. The shine of the eye, the curl of the animal lips that bared his fangs either way. After that, he'd lost count of the kage who'd only been trying to smile, and those who'd shown aggression.
Gabe kept his sigh to himself, then bent his head to lap at the tea the girl placed before him. His tongue was near as big as the cup itself, but Rika was always playing the hostess and wife. She had it filled again before he could bother asking for another cup, and so they fell into a comfortable pattern that way.
Amerika pressed a kiss to Gabe's muzzle, one hand resting on his long neck and twirling the fur there. "Dear my, but you are thirsty today m'lord." She giggled, filling his cup again and stirring in some honey. "Oh, this is so wonderful. Being here with you, Gabrial..." Her eyes darkened slightly, as the old memories she did not want to remember started surfacing. "I have always dream of us doing this...to sit with you like this, in our garden at home."
She forced the numb panic that constricted her chest away, reaching a hand out to touch Gabe's thickly furred shoulder. "We'll go back there soon, right? I want to go home, and start our family soon." She blushed prettily, the darkness gone from her eyes when she met her husband's eyes again. They were blue, the same blue they had been when he was a man. "It's so magical," She laughed, pouring herself some more tea, "I could swear I hear music playing, in this world just for us."
He smiled a little, then blinked and gave pause. She was right...There was music! Gabrial jumped to his paws and away from Rika, his ears swinging around trying to pinpoint the sound and voice that had started drifting on the wind with the song. There was someone close, too close. "Rika, come to me." He ordered, just as the man walked into their line of vision.
Gabrial glared toward the man, his eyes narrowing to focus on the human half the clearing away while his fur rose to stand on end. The singer wasn't so much walking, the Kage noted, so much as the man was prancing into their line of vision. Gabe had been so sure there was no one around. Where had this intruder come from? "Amerika, come to me no--"
"A person!" Amerika cut in, gracefully sweeping to her feet to point dramatically as thought she hadn't seen the man until just then. "Oh, Gabby he's the one playing such fine music." She laughed, completely ignoring her husband's sudden hostility. "Do you think he is a bard? Oh, I do hope he will play for us." She gushed happily, before raising her hand to wave. "Oh Sir! Come this way, oh please?"

"~You're flying on wings of serenity. You're soaring above the ground. You're the majesty of freedom, Tranquility is your crown.~"
He couldn't hear her call over the sound of his own voice and lute, but when he broke verse again his attention drifted from the sky for a but a moment. That's when he saw her waving to him. He paused for a moment and curiously tilted his head to one side, all while his fingers never skipped a beat or missed a note. He returned her smile while also taking note of the company she kept. Another kage, large....almost too large to be like the rest he had been seeing around lately and different. Different from them, and also completely different from his own companion. Speaking of which....
"~Oh, please let me follow you, On your journey to the clouds. Take me up on your wide wings, And show me your world. We will cross the skies, New horizons we'll see. Cross the slumbering landscapes, And disappearing into the dawn.~"
As he made his way over to the woman and her kage he continued to sing. A song, after all, could not go unfinished. It was like taboo or something. He'd taken only a few steps when for a split second a shadow darted across the ground and blotted out the sun. There was a telltale 'swoooosh' from the tree tops as the figure darted over them all, only to circle back around and land heavily at his side with 'fwwump'.
"Oros! How was your flight?" The young man all but chirped.
"Well enough. You're singing that song again. I like it." His mental voice was low and booming, but very monotonous.
"I'm glad. It is your song after all."
"Nonsense. A song belongs only to it's creator."
"I may have created it, but you gave it life."
There conversation was quick and over just as fast as it started. Without a response Mori merely grinned and turned to walk over to the others, his fingers plucking out some random little tune on his lute. "I've got a lovely lady and her companion to meet, come along now if you wish to join me~"
"Oh. I had not noticed." He truly had, and they both knew it. It was the very thing that brought him down from the skies in the first place. A young woman alone would've been little cause for concern, it was her companion that had his attention. He would let no harm come to his beautiful little song bird.
So he followed close behind, the ever-faithful guardian. He remained fairly at ease with no signs of aggression. The only peculiar thing was the wide-eyed and intense stare he threw in Gabriel's direction.

She gasped as the large winged kage came unexpectedly from the sky, her chocolate colored eyes widening in amazement as she watched the bard and the kage converse. She took a few steps toward the kage, then giggled and ran to them, her silky pig tails trailing behind her. "Oh my! Gabe, what a marvelous man we have met!" She laughed, reaching up with childish innocence to stroke the new kage's cheek.
"I've never seen such a lovely creature as this." She breathed, her eyes glazing happily. "Would that I had known such a body was possibly, I would have seen to it you had wings as well, husband." She laughed, smiling happily back toward the priestly kage.
Gabrial pulled himself up to his full height and growled darkly as the strangers moved closer, then nearly lost himself as Amerika ran to the strangers as if they were her dearest friends. His heart plummeted in his chest as she drew up to them, and he moved quickly to her side, unwilling to allow her too far away from him around such a filthy creature.
"It's dangerous." He warned, trying to move Rika away from the other kage with his sternest look. She ignored him, however, and continued fawning over the other monster. He had always tried to protect her from the knowledge of such things as kage, but he had taught her after she'd brought him back. She knew now what kage were. Dangerous monsters. Murdering beasts. Unholy spawn of hell, and yet she ran to them as f they were but kittens!
He turned dark eyes to the other kage, his ears flicking forward in attention as Amerika pointed out the things Gabrial couldn't have missed anyhow. Wings. At such a size, this kage was larger then Gabe without having to try. He felt threatened by that fact alone and wanted to remove the other kage, and his human companion, before they could hurt Rika.
Amerika gave Gabrial a dark look that was little more then a flash in her eyes, then she gave the bard a sweet and gentle smile. "My name is Amerika Henderson, ser. Please, wont you and your friend come and join my husband and I at our lunch?" She offered, moving to give Gabe a hug around his neck. "I made enough for all of us to enjoy, and it has been so long since I heard such lovely music."
She released Gabe as quickly as she'd grasped onto him, and instead clasped her hands infront of her chest. "Oh please, join us wont you? I'd so love to hear a song." She pleaded, her voice becoming a little breathless as she met his eyes with her own bright ones.
He glared at Rika in astonishment, then clamped his mouth shut tightly, his teeth grinding on one another in his attempt to keep from yelling at the woman. He growled slightly, then looked at the others for a long moment as he listened to his wife speak and invite them to share their bread and salt. If they shared a meal, it would be a crime to the gods for them to harm Amerika and himself...then again, since when were kage ever held to the laws of the gods?
He ground his teeth together again, then resigned himself to instead watching the other kage closely. The human would be easy to handle if the need came to kill him, it was the beast he'd brought with him that Gabrial needed to worry about. If the man made a move, the beast might hinder Gabrial from protecting Amerika, and that made him the biggest threat to his wife.
