Hehe. I didn't think I would need a big kick to get motivated to do anything active, but just thinking about it and talking about it is a good mental reminder to keep doing healthy stuff!

I did my weekly Tai-Chi last night, and although I was unsure about one of the end sequences, I checked afterward and had it right. whee

When the weather warms up, I'll hopefully be adding biking and walking to my regular routine.

(and you know what was GREAT exercise yesterday that one normally doesn't think of as exercise? Cleaning 5 sinks, 4 counters, 3 toilets, a tub and shower, doing dishes, and laundry!)

Sounds great fawn!
I know what you mean about cleaning being good excercise. When I cleaned hotel rooms, and later was a porter in the casino my weight sure seemed alot more managable!
I really want to try Tai-Chi cause I love the idea that it is so all around good. My problem is I would not know which is a better DVD or a worse one rolleyes being as I know so very little about the art. I kind of *privately* aspire to getting into good enough shape to work someyoga into my repetoire too.
I would sore love any suggestions you might have on what is a recommended Tai-Chi video.

I have no idea about Tai-Chi videos. I learned it from my mom who learned it from her dad. From what I've seen, everybody has a slightly different style, and their own variations. I think it was passed down through so many different people so far apart over so much time that there's no one real 'correct' version. I saw a channel on tv where a big group of people were doing Tai-Chi overlooking the SF bridge, and stuff was different, but I could recognize the steps. And my mom has an old recording of a martial arts guy from NY who has a real loose/flowing style and does some of the moves with a bit more flair.

I agree. Although I am no expert, I have studied Tai Chi (a couple different forms) and various other martial arts here n' there, and although I've mastered or stuck with absolutely none of them for very long, it has shown me that a lot of the details of a specific form actually depends on the teacher. Try the local library for videos, or garage sales, or ask local friends if they have any videos that you can try for a week or two... and just get yourself moving! That is, after all, the ultimate goal, isn't it?

BTW, I find yoga very soothing/relaxing and physical as well... this may be another option if you are looking for some "quiet" exercises to do at home (or at a local health club, or the Y, or the community center, or...)

Good luck!

Hmmm.. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad development, but I've been noticing that my morning cup of chai fills me up and makes me forget about lunch the past couple of days! Or makes me eat a much smaller lunch.

I'm feeling good energy today (like when my body FEELS healthy) and I'm not sure why. I do notice that my tummy's been feeling thinner the last couple days, but that may be because I tend to bloat before periods and thin out afterward. I haven't weighed myself in such a long time, I wouldn't know if there's a change in that respect.

Has anybody else ever noticed like a 5 pound weight fluctuation from morning to night, every day? I did, back when I used to weigh myself regularly. My mom said it's not possible, but my sister noticed the same thing if I remember. (And WHY do doctor's scales tend to show yourself heavier than at home? Even when fully dressed at home?) rofl

Scales lie, especially those in the doctor's office 3nodding I've more or less stopped weighing myself, I never weight the same and I think my scale is broken ninja I actually went out to buy a new, digital scale a while back, but after testing about 10 of them and getting a completely different number on each one I lost my faith in scales xd

3nodding my weight usually varies by around 4lb from morning to night, it amazes me how your body assimilates all this fuel we fill it with!
I bloat just on my belly before my period, it can be very uncomfortable some months, i can combat it though by drinking more water, that sometimes stops it altogether 3nodding

Yeah I remember after my bad head-on collision and being in the hospital 4 days, I lost 12 pounds. That's the only time in high school my weight really fluctuated.

And I have to share this! Yesterday I left Jade at my mom's while I went to the chirpractor. After I picked her up, Jade told me she did exercises at Grandmama's when I wasn't there. "Good!" I tell her. "Are exercises healthy?" she asks me. "Yes," I tell her. Then she tells me "Healthy is healthy. And mom, when healthy can't be healthy, then you're not healthy." "Right..." I say. As long as it makes sense in her mind! rofl

We went swimming today which was fun, good exercise, and good practice for Jade. It's good work on the lungs too. And I made an extra effort to exercise my legs and butt until my back hurt.

Well I asked my chiro today if there's anything else I should be doing for my upper back physical pain I keep getting every day since the last car accident over a year ago. I got better last fall and stopped going in, but a month later it returned and I put off going in until about a month ago, and I don't know how much longer it will take before I feel better again, or if I will.. So I said what else can I do for it, and he suggested stretching/strengthening exercises for my neck and full back, and that my pilates video might be good, and/or one of the local workout centers. Since I'm going to join one of the centers this fall when Jade starts kindergarten, I'll see about sticking to my pilates video and other home workouts until then, and hope it helps..

that really should help fawN, pilates is all about strengthening the inner core muscles, it's still something that i have every intention of getting into doing as i'm sure it will help with my sciatica 3nodding

I'm feeling good energy today (like when my body FEELS healthy) and I'm not sure why.

I LONGED for this feeling so badly yesterday! I felt just the opposite, with really BAD energy all over, and my skin and whole body just felt all wrong! I tried to do deep breathing, 2:1 breathing, drink essence of Tienchi flower Tea (I think that's what it's called) which is supposed to help emotional inquietude and insomnia and other things. I also really craved accupuncture or something which often changes my energy and makes me feel good, but I haven't done that in years! Nothing helped, but I feel a little better today. Sleep often does wonders too.

And then this morning I did Tai-Chi followed by some Pilates. Tai-Chi surprisingly makes me break out into a sweat near the end, so I figured it was a good time to continue. And mornings before Jade wakes up seems to be a good time too. I usually wait until just before bedtime, but then Jade's needing help with her toothpaste or the sink or she's running all around my feet, and that's no good..
