Today my mother told me that one of the cats- her name is "Sassy", is going blind. Recently my family and I discussed sending Sassy to the vet to get her checked for arthritis because she seemed like she was walking funny. I thought maybe her back legs were hurting her because she stopped jumping up onto the couch and onto mom and dad's bed. And mom said it had gotten worse last night- like she would keep bumping into things. So dad took her to the vet today to get her checked out and the vet (who is a wonderful country doc) said that she was going blind. Dad had the vet do some tests to see if it could possibly be lead poisoning (my parent's house is over 100 years old and they just did some painting and remodeling recently). We will be hearing from him soon. My mom is devastated because Sassy was our first cat and we've had her for about 10 years. A year after Sassy adopted us, her brother, "Sugar" also came into our family. And after I moved out of my parent's house I got my own cat named "Zsa Zsa". They are all beautiful Himalayan mixes. My parents said they are not going to put her down no matter what and the vet gave them medicine that should help her eyes (some sort of kitty steroid). So please, if you could, pray for Sassy.
...oh and yes, Sassy was named after the cat in "Homeward Bound" because they look so similar and they both have that sassy attitude.

I know just how special our furry critters can be. They are part of our family and loved so dearly. When one of them is hurting, we hurt with them. I know she must be confused with her eye-sight going. I am praying that the test results come back in a positive light, that it isn't lead poisoning. I pray the medicine will touch her eyes and heal them. And I pray for comfort, for her and for you and your family. May you feel God's presence holding you dearly in His arms!

Thank-you everyone for the prayers. The medicine is working and Sassy is staring to regain her eyesight. Her pupils are responding to light whereas before they were unnaturally dialed. God bless and happy thanksgiving everybody!
