Candidate Name:
Azylrin (Az'rin if he Impresses)
Nickname: Rin, Az
Age: 15
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Straight-ish (definitely not bronze straight xD )
Craft: Weavercraft - Dyer
Rank: Apprentice

Physical Description: The first and most noticeable thing about this boy is his height. He is short. Really short. Barely breaches 5'4". And no, he is not a 'late bloomer'. He really is that short. Something that he will not appreciate being reminded of. Short, shaggy blonde-brown hair frames a lean face with two doleful grey eyes. He also has a smattering of freckles along his nose and cheeks. Where others his age are more lean and built like a runner, he's got more 'fluff' to him, though it's not anything considered overweight. Just a little chunkier in a cute way. His skin is nicely tanned (like beach tan) and is clean with hardly any marks on it. He always makes an effort to appear nicely groomed (except his hair...it sort of does it's own thing) when in public. Usually his attire will consist of slightly baggy pants that don't constrict his movement. A light undershirt with either a vest or pullover shirt of a slightly thicker material from the undershirt are most common for upper wear. It's never tight or form-fitting though. Just slightly lose but never overly large. And, depending on the days activities, he has a nice pair of sturdy boots to wear around for the messier chores or things that require a good amount of walking or simple sandals to wear around the barracks and Weyr when not working on chores.

Personality: Definitely not one of those boys you would call arrogant or mean. Actually quite the opposite. The best words used to describe Azylrin would be 'huggable stuffed toy'. He is a very sweet and easily approachable guy rarely having a temper. Also very kind and gives most people a chance no matter their attitude, beliefs, or rank. Azylrin just doesn't really know how to act besides being sweet and kind when around other people. However he does have a shy side to him. Especially when their are girls around. One could almost go as far as to say he is intimidated by them. Except he seems to show the same sort of shyness around guys too. Though not quite as extreme when there are females around. But once he feels a little more comfortable around people (male or female), he brightens and falls right into that huggable personality.

If there is one thing - aside from his sweetness - that Azylrin is good at, it's helping people. He loves to be of help whenever he can and will offer such when he feels that it might be welcomed. After all, Azylrin is still quite shy and won't be that boy that waltz's up to someone new and immediately offers his assistance. He still has to warm up to the company around him first. However if he sees someone struggling that he's never met before, Azylrin will find himself asking if they need any assistance before he realizes what he's doing. Only in those situations can you find the shy boy offering to help, let alone speaking to a new acquaintance without the preliminary shyness. However, his love in helping others can be seen as annoying as he asks so frequently. Some people may not appreciate it or feel he's insinuating something by making it seem like they have to have help in order to get a task completed. When this occurs, Azylrin lapses into an overly shy and silent upset state.

Almost on the same level as his love for helping people, Azylrin is very easily upset. He lacks self-confidence in himself on most days, though he doesn't realize quite yet that that is what he really feels. For him, he just sees himself on the bad days as a big fat cry baby. Which only upsets him more. All one really has to do is say something derogatory or curse at him and Azylrin will get upset. He won't show it outwardly right away, but he'll quickly excuse himself to find someplace secluded so he can have a few private moments to himself. In addition to typical name calling or being generally 'mean', Azylrin also sensitive over any negative talk about the Holds and crafthalls. He is not of the Weyr and doesn't know if some of the negativity he's heard before towards them is true, just angry words being flung in that general direction, or if they just don't like the Holds. He will admit that this does not happen often, but the rare occasions it does it's guaranteed that he'll be in some secluded spot for a few moments (or candlemarks).

Another word that could possibly describe Azylrin at times would be clingy. He grows very fond and attached to people that treat him nicely. And any friends he develops he'll be unwaveringly devoted to. He may not be a social butterfly a majority of the time but he does enjoy being in a social crowd. And having friends or people that he knows real well and doesn't have any problems speaking to are highly valued in his mind. It shouldn't be a surprise to figure that anyone who uses him and throws him to the whers when finished will just break his heart (metaphorically speaking). Having such a thing happen will wound the small bit of confidence he has and send him spiraling further down into the land of no confidence at all. He'll also grow almost obnoxiously shy for a time, not sure how to act after being burned. What's to stop everyone else from doing the same, anyways? Losing a friend will take a lot of time for this boy to heal from and twice as long for him to recover enough to seek out new friends. Some deep part of him hopes that maybe one day, with the right person, he won't have to rely so heavily on people like he currently does.

Captured a neat looking baby tunnelsnake recently? Going to go explore down a dark corridor when you're supposed to be in bed? Azylrin will be the one hiding under his bedfurs. He is a wimp. Plain and simple. But this is not to be mistaken for being an utter wuss. He just doesn't have it in him to be a fearless leader. And fights? Get in a fist fight or smack him around and Azylrin will try and look as submissive as possible. He doesn't like pain and he's scared of the dark. Anything that typically falls into one of those two categories will, by default, have Azylrin cowering off to the side. Preferably somewhere bright. With soft things around so if he falls from tripping while trying to escape, it won't hurt so much. This is something he is working hard to overcome. Or mostly overcome. He's getting better about not going utter wimp when he gets a scrape on his knee. But the dark? Yeah that sill has a long way to go.

History: Born into a caring family with generations of weavers and a few oddballs that went into other crafts, Azylrin had no qualms at learning his families craft. He wasn't so good when it came to stitching or embroidery, but he had a fascination for the beautiful colors that were created as dyes for the fabrics and yarn that his mother and sisters used. His father was of journeyman rank and specialized in the dyes himself. And it was like his father that Azylrin wanted to be. Though he would never be quite as proud as Amrinz was. But he admired his father greatly and hoped to one day, maybe be like him. As for his mother and two oldest sisters, they always surprised him with the lovely things they created at their looms. It just seemed right to him, with his sisters following in their mother's footsteps, for him to follow in his fathers. So he began to learn the process of creating dyes and dying fabric.

Their family lived in a small two story structure with the first level being a homely little craft shop that sold blankets, select garments, and offered to repair clothes. Upstairs was their living space. A little tight, but they never complained. At least not until his oldest sister, Zyrin, was married and her husband decided to join their family in the weavercraft business. Not ones to ever turn down help, Amrinz and Zyraa welcomed their home to their new son-in-law. He was a quick learner and found himself working along side father and son in the dying process.

Then, not three turns later, with Azylrin now considered an apprentice in his craft, they found themselves being of service to a rider. One that they found out had been flying on Search. She hadn't intentionally come looking in the shop for any potential candidates - really, she was looking to see about purchasing a couple blankets and maybe a nice top for special occasions - and was surprised when her dragon informed her that Azylrin had potential. Startled by this news, Azylrin had fallen straight into shy and quiet mode while his family discussed eagerly what all this possibility entailed. The rider explained it a couple times, answering any and all questions before speaking to Azylrin herself. It was his choice after all. She even took him down to where her green lazed about waiting for her bonded to finish with errands. Gazing at the lovely green, Azylrin started to feel a chance arise. A chance to make his father proud. Be like him. Though it wouldn't quite be in the same fashion.

After speaking with the greenrider and her dragon, Azylrin went back and talked it over with his family. It was a universal agreement that they felt he should go. Having a son Stand would bring his parents such joy, even if he didn't Impress. It was more so because of their looks and bubbling happiness that Azylrin agreed and accepted this unimagined chance to Stand on the sands and see a Hatching. His confidence in himself made it hard for him to believe he would ever Impress, but he would be just as happy to witness such an event even if it didn't happy for him. And after that, if he walked away dragonless, he could always return home. So, with this plan in mind, he accepted and secretly hoped to just maybe find himself with a dragon partner one day soon.
