Some day you'll find it, the Rainbow connection. The Lovers, the Dreamers, and my review!

As a child growing up, I absolutely loved the Muppets! The Muppet Show, Muppet Movie, Great Muppet Caper, Muppets take Manhatten were all favorites of mine. In more recent years the Muppet movies have gone down hill, hitting an all time low point with Muppets from Space, it seemed like they were about to fall into the pages of cinema history.

That is, until long time Muppets fan Jason Segal, and Flight of the Concords got together and decided to bring the Muppets back to the big screen in a comeback effort. I was skeptical at times, wondering if they had what it took to capture the essence of the Muppets under Jim Henson's direction. But I jsut had to see this movie. And I was glad I did.

The movie is about Walter, a muppet who goes on a trip to LA with his brother Gary (Segal) and his girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams) While in LA they visiot the old Muppet theater where an evil oil Tycoon (Played by Chris Cooper) plans to tear down the theater and drill for Oil. In order to save the old Muppet Theater, Walter and company must help Kermit the Frog reunite the old Muppet gang and put on a show to try and raise the 10 million dollars needed to save their theater.

There are three things that the original Muppet movies have in common. Songs, Celebrity cameo's and 4th wall jokes. And this movie had them in spades! I was so worried that this movie wouldn't be able to resurrect the Muppet spirit previous Muppet movies had, but Segal and crew did an amazing job staying true to the true roots of the Muppet franchise. And after seeing the huge, successful draw this movie earned, It only makes me more excited to see where the Muppet property goes from here.
