With this 66-game shortened season, there are some streaks at stake!
DS21's Spurs have won 50 games for 12 straight seasons, and my Mavs: for 11. Do you think either of these teams can get fifty this year? (which would require a maximum of 16 losses)
The last time the Spurs didn't get to 50 was the last time the league was in a lockout. 1998-1999. Still, San Antonio went 37-13 and went on to win their first NBA title. The Mavs went 40-42 in 1999-2000, the last season they didn't win 50. It was their first year under owner Mark Cuban.

I didn't think about that.
I think both teams have a decent shot at it, with the Mavs having more of a shot. The Spurs are just not in sync right now, and unfortunately, getting older as the media says.

With 66 games, absolutely not. The best team in the league will probably approach the high-40s.

Yeah, personally, I was worried when Tyson Chandler was dealt and Caron Butler left (...all this time I was like, "We just won the NBA championship! Just imagine next year when Caron Butler will be healthy!") and... how the hell do you not offer J.J. Barea a multi-year deal!? He played a huge role in sweeping the defending champs in the playoffs. So watch out for Minnesota to maybe win 30 or more games this year...
But with Odom and Carter I think they'll be solid contenders again this year. I know Vince is old but with this you have like half a dozen players that could easily lead your team in scoring every night. (Nowitzki, Terry, Kidd, Odom, Carter, Marion)
I'm not guaranteeing 50 wins but 45 at least. I wouldn't be surprised if they did win 50, though and capture a top playoff seed. (and 50 wins in a 66-game season would probably clinch the #1 seed anyway)
