It is never too early to look forward and anticipate the big movies coming out in the yearly Summer Blockbuster Season. Last year wasn't bad, but was mostly overrun by Superhero movies, Sequels, and prequels. After a while it got old and I was eager for something different. Looking into this summers line up I'm seeing a wider variety of films that will do just that. But will they surpass last summers hits? We'll see. The following are just some of the films that will be coming out and my initial thoughts.

The Avengers (May 4th)- After years of build up with the Iron Man movies, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America, we finally get the film all comic book nerds have been craving since they saw the Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury Cameo at the end of Iron Man 1. The most highly anticipated film for me this summer, and it will kick off the summer season May 4th.

Dark Shadows (May 11th)- Two Vampire movies come out this summer, the first is Tim Burton teaming up with Johnny Depp is a 1960's Gothic vampire story. I admit, I'm sick of all the vampire movies. And it seems like there are just as many Burton/Depp films too. Mashing the two together into one film is just an overdose of films I've grown weary of.

The Dictator (May 11th)- Sacha Baron Cohen (Bruno, Borat) does this film about a dictator supposedly along the same lines of comedy as his previous films. Unlike most I didn't care for Borat, Bruno was horrible, and there is nothing appealing so far about this film.

What to Expect when your expecting (May 11th)- Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez star in this romantic comedy based on the popular parents guide book. Romantic comedies are either hit or miss with me, either I like them or I hate them. This one does have potential.

Battleship (May 18th)- A sci-fi movie loosely based on the popular board game, this film has been delayed twice while in production. Clue has become a huge classic after a poor theatrical run, this one looks like it will just have the poor theatrical run.

Men In Black III (May 25th)- The third installment of a franchise they haven't made a film about in over 10 years. The first of several sequels brings back Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, but the trailer I viewed looked less than inspiring.

Rock of Ages (June 1st)- June kicks off with a live action adaptation of the popular broadway musical. Like with romantic comedies Musicals are hit and misses with me. And one starring Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin just makes me cringe at the thought.

Snow White: And the Huntsman (June 1st)- several movies this summer will be inspired by the Brothers Grimm stories. This will be the second Snow White movie to be released this year. The first coming out in March with Julia Roberts as the evil Queen. This version seems like it will be darker, and will have Chris Hemsworth in it. Of the two I'm leaning towards this version as possibly being the better.

Madagascar 3 (June 8th)- Yet another sequel to a film I thought was horrible to begin with. I couldn't even finish the first Madagascar, this one I will eagerly look over and skip in favor of some of the animated alternatives coming out later.

Promethius (June 8th)- A Science Fiction movie directed by Ridley Scott (Alien) Some say that it is the prequel to the original Alien movie. I enjoyed the original Alien, but after watching Scott's directors cut of the film, I have my doubts about this one.

I Hate You Dad (June 15th)- Adam Sandler stars in this comedy about a man about to marry when his aging father moves in. I like Adam Sandler, but his recent films have left me feeling empty inside. Jack and Jill made me want to gag just from the trailer, I fear this one won't be much better.

Jack the Giant Killer (June 15th)- Bryan Singer (X-men) directs a more adult version of Jack and the Bean Stalk, filmed mostly with motion capture which hasn't done too well recently (Mars needs Moms) But I'm willing to give this film a try if I'm not Grimmed out by the Snow White movies preceding it.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (June 22nd)- Based on the novel where president Lincoln has a secret as a Vampire hunter is the second Vampire film of the summer. Has the potential of being just awful, but the premise is amusing and if executed properly could very well be the better of the two Vampire movies. I think this one is worth a look if anything just for the absurdity of the concept.

Brave (June 22nd)- Pixar's animated movie of the summer is yet another Brothers Grimm inspired story. This one though being just inspired where the others are based off of actual Grimm fairy tales. I've been down on Pixar the last few years, but this movie looks good, and could be thee best animated film of the summer.

G.I Joe 2: Retaliation (June 29th)- Like with Transformers, the first G.I. Joe film had VERY mixed reviews, but was still considered a box office hit. SO a sequel was bound to happen. The first movie I didn't think was bad, but it was far from good. I will be avoiding this one.

The Amazing Spider-Man (July 3rd)- July kicks off with this reboot of Spider-man. After the dissapointing Spider-man 3 Sony axed the idea of part 4 and decided to start fresh. I like the casting of Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, but the trailer leaves me questioning this adaptation and yet another origins story. But I will still dish out my $10 to watch it, good or bad.

Ice Age: Continental Drift (July 13th)- Madagascar 3 disgusted me. Ice Age 4 makes me want to go into a horrible angry rage. Unlike Madagascar where I hated all of those movies, I actually enjoyed the first Ice age. The sequels have been awful, the notion of a 4th film probably is one of thee worst ideas for a film this summer.

TED (July 13th)- Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy) makes his first animated motion picture about an average guy voiced by Mark Whalberg, who's teddy bear he owned when he was a child comes to life and threatens his relationships. I used to be a huge fan of Family Guy, but since it's come back from cancellation I've not been much of a fan. But this would make for a much better animated alternative than Ice Age 4.

The Dark Knight Rises (July 20th)- How do you top Dark Knight? Possibly thee best Batman movie and arguably thee best comic book movie ever? Answer... You don't. You just try and make a great movie that keeps the spirit of the previous films. We'll see if Nolan can follow up Leger's Joker performance with Bane and Catwoman.

Here Comes the Boom (July 27th)- I'm just going to say it, I hate Kevin James, He's not Funny. The thought of an action comedy about a Mixed Martial Arts fighter co starring Selma Hayek, well it sounds much better than Zookeeper.

The Bourne Legacy (August 3rd)- This movie is like Ice Age, I enjoyed the first Bourne movie, But the sequels have lost my interest. They aren't nearly as bad as the Ice Age sequels, but nothing great. It is rumored this will be thee last Bourne movie, so it might be worth a look.

Total Recall (August 3rd)- Colin Farrell and Kate Bekinsale star in this remake of Schwarzenegger's 1990 film. The first Arnold remake this year, Conan the Barbarian had very mixed reviews, but I'm actually curious to see how they approach remaking this one? Curiosity will draw me to the theater to see this remake, but will they still have the alien chick with three boobs? (Perverted Guy Moment)

Southern Rivals (August 10th)- The promotional poster for this film had me believing THIS was going to be the action comedy about mixed martial artists. And with Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis, I think it would of made for a much better MMA comedy than Kevin James, but when I read the premise of it being about two rival politicians, My interest sunk faster than Obama's approval rating.

The Expendables 2 (August 17th)- As mind numbingly stupid I felt the first Expendables was, I actually loved it. I got what I was promised, and I expect this movie to be no different. I've been weary of sequels and remakes lined up for the summer, but this one I would love to see, possibly my guilty pleasure of the summer line up.

ParaNorman (August 17th)- Stop Motion animation is my favorite animation style. So when I heard the studio that brought me Coraline, one of my favorite animated movies of all time was coming out with an animated movie this summer, I was overly excited. It's an eerie film which brings in a paranormal style of comedy similar to Ghostbusters and Goonies, this is the animated movie I'm mostly looking forward to this summer.

So that is the movie line up for this summer. Many films I'm looking forward too. Some I'm questioning but will still give a chance. Others I will avoid like the plague. All release dates are subject to change. But there is potential that this summer can be better than last year.

So, is Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter going to be anything like Jesus Chirst: Vampire Hunter? Because that movie was awesome.

The movies I'm most interested in are;

The Avengers
The Dark Knight Rises
Underworld: Awakening
Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
John Carter
Snowtown
Dredd
The Lords of Salem (which is being filmed about 45 minutes away from my town, by Rob Zombie, which I find pretty cool)

The Avengers - Will be seeing, loved all the past movies.

Dark Shadows - Need a trailer, then I can choose.

The Dictator - Can't say I'm interested.

What to Expect when your expecting - No thanks.

Battleship - Looks interesting, but I might wait to rent it.

Men In Black III - I kept waiting for a 3rd installment, this wasn't what I expected. I'm not sure.

Rock of Ages - Meh.

Snow White: And the Huntsman - A serious take on Snow White? Ya got me. Kristen Stewart? Ya lost me.

Madagascar 3 - Nah.

Promethius - Hmm....I dunno.

I Hate You Dad - I'm hit and miss with Sandler movies as well, if the trailer intrigues me I may see it but I cant seem to find it.

Jack the Giant Killer - Wait, it's not a remake of the 1962 film with Kerwin Matthews?

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - I look at this and go: Wha-?! Like I did with Cowboys and Aliens. But that film was enjoyable so maybe I'll like this one

Brave - Looks good, then again it is Pixar. (I liked Cars 2 btw.)

G.I Joe 2: Retaliation - No thanks, 1st one bored me. Not even the combination of Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis can convince me.

The Amazing Spider-Man - I still don't like the idea of a reboot. And from what I've seen of it, I might end up skipping it.

Ice Age: Continental Drift - *see reaction to Madagascar 3*

TED - Not a big Seth MacFarlane fan (except in Hellboy II). Skip.

The Dark Knight Rises - Hell YES!

Here Comes the Boom - Nope

The Bourne Legacy - Haven't seen the past films.

Total Recall - 3 boobs? da hell?

Southern Rivals - No.

The Expendables 2 - I thought the first one was ok, I'll probably see this one eventually.

ParaNorman - Looks creepy, me likey.

I also wanna see Red Tails, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengence and Underworld: Awakening.

Looking forward to:
The Hunger Games - Loved the books, love the cast; I'm so in.
The Avengers - I have a feeling this is going to be one of the ultimate super hero movies of all time. Plus, Robert Downey Jr.
Dark Shadows - I'm sort of looking forward to this. But, I've seen the rest of Tim Burton's movies. I'm ready for something new.
Men in Black III - Again, sort of excited for this. I think it'll be okay.
Madagascar 3 - I wasn't too happy this movie existed until I saw the preview a few days ago. It made me laugh my a** off.
Jack the Giant Killer - I don't know too much about this show other than the fact that Nicholas Hoult is in it. I'm interested.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - Again, I don't know a whole lot about it. But I'm still interested.
Brave - Can't pass up a Pixar movie. I'm just hoping they'll redeem themselves after the trainwreck that was Cars 2.
The Amazing Spider-Man - Spider-Man is one of my favorite superheroes and, while I'm sad they're rebooting it, I'm just excited they're going to keep making movies about him.
The Dark Knight Rises - I'm just as excited about this as everyone else is, I'm sure.
ParaNorman - The animation is going to be amazzzing.
Warm Bodies - I read the book over Thanksgiving break this year and I fell in love with it. I'm excited to see what the filmmakers do with it.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - Love the LOTR movies and this is just a prequel to those, so...HELL YEAH.
The Lorax - It looks like it's going to be cute. I loved their version of Horton Hears a Who, so I'm excited to see the adaptation. I'm just not too happy Taylor Swift is in it.
The Great Gatsby - Baz Luhrmann + F. Scott Fitzgerald + Leonardo DiCaprio = match made in heaven.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower - The author of the book is directing and the cast is perfect. I'm stoked for this.
