User ImageBefore any massed invasion there needs to be a plan, and the Drow never do anything without a plan. they may worship Lolth the spider queen of chaos but that does not mean that they just do things off the cuff. The Matron mother of house Banrae had a plan to make the Drow more powerful, and of course since she was the head for the chief city of the Drow it would in turn make her more powerful.
Afay'Eclav Baenre had a plan but before she set it to motion she needed more information. Jarlaxel and his band to get her information form the surface world. The first thing you needed to know was your enemy and how they thought. To this end she sent his band to the surface to find out how prepared they would be for a siege. But, the surface alone was not the problem she needed to know what the other Drow were thinking as well to this end she sent out her daughter Jeanra Baenre currently one of the top students in the school of magic.

Afay'Eclav Baenre
Afay'Eclav stood in the Baenre shrine to Lolth speaking to yochlol a handmaiden of their goddess Lolth. Lolth had instructed her that the Drow were to do something that had never truly been attempted a conquest of the surface. Afay'Eclav was astonished but she kept her composure. This would be the greatest undertaking her people ever attempted. Once again the yochlol spoke "You will take the armies of the Drow to the surface, that all will know and fear the great Goddess of Spiders." The creature instructed. "You must convince the other seven matron mothers of the council to join you. then you will start with the city of Calimport, they are used to Chaos and above all value you money." It instructed before departing once more to its own plane. Afay'Eclav was at a loss for words, she had dreamed for such a thing but to have Lolth instruct it was something else entirely. She immediately went over to her chair and took as seat by her table and began to think about what to do next. First she would employ Jarlaxel and his crew to get information on the surface world. That would be easy what would be hard would be convincing the other matrons that this was the right path....

Jeanra had taken comfort in her private quarters. Sitting upon a lavish chair embroidered with symbols of her beloved Lolth, the drow was deep in thought. Of course she had heard the idea to overtake the surface world, but could it be true? Jeanra wouldn't make any bold decisions until she had been informed by her matron mother.

The idea was bold, brave, and courageous. Would they even be able to obtain enough power, enough drow, to complete the quest. Standing, Jeanra walked over to a small table pushed against the wall. The drow ran the flat of her palm over the wall until she felt the small notch that couldn't be seen by anyone’s eye. Applying pressure, the section of the wall moved aside revealing a collection of small daggers, darts and other instruments of death. Reaching for a particular favorite the drow thought, "Of course we'll have enough power. We are drow. Any plan even considered by my matron mother will have the confidence of success."

The thought made the drow smirk. Pushing the notch again, the wall slid shut and all her treasures were concealed. Turning away from the small table, she left her quarters and began walking down the massive hallway.

Afay'Eclav Baenre
Afay'Eclav sent a summons for her daughter Jeanra to come to the family shrine. She had a subject of the highest importance. Afay'Eclav had faith that she had the means to either convince or cower the other families to accept her plan. With her own family agents at her side she would find the means.....
Afay'Eclav had also sent a summons to Jarlaxel, with him on the surface and her family below it would not be long until she had all the information she would need to set her little chess game in motion. Uniting the Drow was a notoriously difficult thing to do, a race notorious for its treachery and betrayal. It was Lolth's was of assuring only the strongest served her.

Continuing down the hallway, Jeanra moved with a gracefulness that only complemented her confidence. The drow was just about to turn into a corridor when she heard another’s voice call her name.

“Jeanra, may I request your attention for a moment?”

The drow turned to see the male before her. He was simply a messenger of the house of no important status. Jeanra didn’t even know his name.

“Speak.” She commanded belittling any self-confidence the male might have had.

“Your mother summons your company in the shrine.”

Jeanra nodded and waved a hand dismissing the drow. She turned in a different direction and headed towards the place of worship. A series of hallways lead her to two massive doors that were engraved with the symbols of Lolth.

“Mother,” she said in calming voice as she stepped inside. “I came at your request.” Jeanra moved to stand just behind her matron mother and bowed her head slightly.

Afay'Eclav Baenre
Afay'Eclav smiled at her daughter "Lolth has confirmed the order we are to attack the surface, but before we do I need information on the other houses." She said slyly. "As one of the top students in our school of magic you are in a fine position to gain information on the other houses and how they truly feel about this planned conquest." Her voice was confident and fileld with pride as she spoke. And well it might as Lolth had chosen her house to lead this long dempt of advance on the sun lit lands.

Jeanra was more than pleased with the news. Her house was to lead the drow to the surface. Her house had been chosen by Lolth herself to overtake the surface world.

“I would be honored to carry on such a task.” Jeanra replied to her mother’s orders. “And which house would you prefer to start with?”

Raising her head slightly, Jeanra’s lips curled into a smirk as she looked at the shrine before her. With Lolth’s orders, her house had more power than other within the Underdark. She had more power than those in the Underdark.

Afay'Eclav Baenre
"Start with house Obledora" She said icily "Their psionisist abilities make them the most dangerous to us, we must secure them as an ally or eliminate them from the equation." Her voice held no malice, it was a mere statement of fact. One that any Drow would have followed perfectly. "Tell me, daughter how are you spells of telepathy and invisibility coming along?" Afay'Eclav asked knowing she would need to mask not just her physical but her mental presence.

Nodding in agreement, Jeanra realized that although Lolth had granted them the power to lead the drow to the surface, this also would increase the likely-hood that another house would forcefully try and take their position from them.

Jeanra studies had improved by far, but there was still much to learn. “I have mastered the spells and skills of invisibility mother,” she replied, “but my mental protection could be a vulnerability.” Her head dropped in embarrassment.

"Hmmm, look behind you there is an old scroll in the drawer of the table with that silver conjuring mirror. "They are old spells worked out by my grandmother, perhaps they will be of use to you." She said encouragingly. Not to heal her daughters spirits but she knew confidence often affected performance and she needed Jeanra in the right mindset.

User Image"Yes mother," Jeanra replied. Taking a few steps backwards, she turned around and walked to the table. Pulling open the drawer, she saw the scrolls and took them as instructed.

The drow didn't move from the postition, "Is there anything else you would like to telll me before I prepare to visit the Obledora house?" She wondered if she would be going on this mission alone, or if her matron mother would appoint someone to aid her.

"Perhaps you should look for Xun'e he would be of great help to you." Her voices held the trace of a question and a thought. As she asked she realized she had ot seen him around for a few days and wondered what trouble he was getting himself into. Xun'e was her favorite soldier of the house with his ruthless efficiency, not only did he get the job done but he kept Menzobaranzen reminded why Baenre was the first house.

User ImageJeanra nodded and slipped out from the shrine. She took the effort to shut the door without a sound.

The drow turned and began walking down the corridors to where the training grounds of the house where. If the finest soldeir of their house was to be found, it was only logical that he would be found there.

Jeanra had tucked the scrolls away and figured that she would have time later to look them over and practice her spellwork. For now, her sword sheathed at her side might prove to be handy at the training grounds. A sharp sword could be just as useful as a sharp mind.

Finally, the drow stepped into the thresh hold of where Xun'e or another find soldier might be.

Afay'Eclav Baenre
Afay'Eclav sat back in her throne and interlaced her long delicate fingers, a cold smile played across her face. Jeanra was ambitious, deadly and above all proud to be a Drow of house Baenre. Pride was a good thing, it inspired jealous in others, and jealous often blinded a person leading to them making a mistake. Mistakes were deadly in the Drow world, there were no second chances.
This plan would require planning careful planning. She had already sent out Jeanra as her eyes in the city, but now she needed eyes on the surface world. Summoning a goblin slave she sent him to go find Jarlaxel. The mission was important worthy of even a female Drow as messenger but right now Afay'Eclav thought it would best be to shadow and hide her motives. So instead she sent a worthless male, beyond that she sent a lowly goblin to find Jarlaxel for her.

Jarlaxel was sitting at his desk with his hands behind his head and his feet up on his desk. When he heard that there was a goblin at his door with a message from house Baenre he smirked. Jarlaxel was used to the secretive ways of his people and being summoned by the matrons to do any number of things. He was intrigued by the fact that the goblin's entire message was that Matron Baenre requested his presence. He tried to get more out of the goblin, but the goblin had no answers to give. Eventually the terrified creature was allowed to return to house Baenre with Jarlaxel hot on his heels to see what it was that Afay'Eclav wanted.
