Mia stepped back in the snow, looking up at the tree before her and admiring her work. The cat mononoke was bundled up in a black peacoat over her normal uniform with a soft grey scarf and fuzzy grey earmuffs over her human ears to protect from the cold and snow around her. High up in a tree, something gleamed. It appeared silvery as the winter sun gleamed off it, but it was impossible to identify what it actually was from the ground.
The young bobcat suppressed her smile after a moment of self-congratulation. She looked around her in anticipation, looking for a particular girl, Odette. Mia was the other student's Secret Santa this Christmas. She had never met the girl, although she'd seen her once or twice. The past few weeks she'd been subtly trying to discover what the other girl liked. She had been successful and, hopefully, secret. Now, she was just waiting for the other girl. Someone had mentioned they'd seen her out here, walking, earlier, so Mia had set up her gift and now waited, seeming anxious as her tail lashed back and forth behind her, uncharacteristically seeming to be waiting without making herself busy.
