Let me start out this thread with a prediction:

The Dallas Mavericks will get back on track tonight against the Nuggets. Dallas will score over 105 and Dirk will have 32.

Without Chandler, it's the Allas Mavericks. Dallas, with no D!

The Mavs have given up 69 points in the first half! And trail by twenty-seven!

Yeah, at least so far.

And the Lakers finally got their first win of the season, beating the Jazz 96 - 71. They didn't play well at all against the Kings, and they should have kept their composure in the last 45-50 seconds or so against the Bulls for the win, but it's okay I guess. If the Lakers could actually keep up this kind of level of play, then they should be fine.

they'll be fine once Kobe get fully healed and Bynum comes back fo suspension. they'll be back to a normal L.A. Laker team

I don't think it's going to get any better for the Mavericks. They play four games in five nights starting with a game against Kevin Durant and the Thunder in Oklahoma City. And Brendan Haywood needs to learn how to make his free throws. 36% last year and he went 1-4 Monday.

Looks like Dallas isn't too ready to start the season well. I still see them gelling it in though, but as for a repeat, as long as you have VC as a main player on your team, I don't think so.

Spurs just beat the Clippers by 25 points. The defense is better than I expected, and we have quite a few changes in offense. Richard Jefferson is much much better, and the shooting is almost impeccable. Manu Ginobili is at the peak of his game. Duncan's leaner than ever. I have high hopes for this Spurs' team.

I'll be reliving Durant's shot in my nightmares. Anybody get a flashback of the Rockets/Blazers game a few years ago when both teams traded go-ahead shots in less than three seconds, highlighted by Brandon Roy's game-winning three?

These kinds of games are really exciting. At first I thought Vince Carter sealed their first win, but when I saw Kevin Durant with some space to pull up for the three, I just had a feeling it was going in. He's a crazy good scorer.

And I liked what I saw when the Lakers beat the Knicks. The bench is playing better than I expected. Especially Josh McRoberts and Steve Blake. Hopefully Blake can be consistent with his three-point shooting. And even World Peace is playing better off the bench, and Bynum is coming back from his suspension. I just hope he stays healthy. I'm still not sure of this team reaching the Finals, let alone reach the Western Conference Finals, but I'm still keeping my hopes up.

Here's a highlights video of the Lakers game against the Knicks. And is it just me, or was Kobe trying to do Dirk's fadeaway at around 1:08 seconds into the video?

Now they're 5-1 now that the Mavericks beat them, but I think they can make a push for the Finals this time around. Of course, I hope for the Lakers to make it this year, but I don't think that'll happen.

Shawn Marion looked really good last night. He made a few shots in a row and forced Thunder turnovers the next possessions as well. He also made a three, his first of the year. Vince Carter scored in double digits and Lamar Odom added a season-high 8. The young Ian Mahinmi was also just a rebound short of a double-double off the bench. Once Lamar Odom gets back to his normal self, this will be a dangerous lineup. You know you're deep when you have Jason Terry, Lamar Odom, and Vince Carter coming off the bench. Dallas will be fine. [and make the playoffs]

But how about the Minnesota Timberwolves? In back-to-back nights, they beat the Dallas Mavericks by 17 and the San Antonio Spurs by 10. Of course, Manu Ginobili went down with a hand injury, but I like what they've done so far.

And the Bobcats have gone downhill after losing in the final seconds against the Heat. They've been blown out 100-79 to the Magic and again to the Heat, 129-90. Miami also lost their first of the year to an underrated Atlanta Hawks team.

Bobcats beat the Knicks, 118-110 at Madison Square Garden.

Mavs beat the Suns after a sloppy ending in Dirk's 1,000th career game, 98-89. Dallas is 3-4 and play the Spurs in San Antonio tomorrow.

The Mavericks break 70 with 4.4 seconds left and lose to the Spurs, 93-71. They scored 29 in the fourth as it was the third of five losses in which Dirk sat the entire fourth. Nowitzki had only 6 points anyway. Kidd left in the first half to lower back pains.
