Street Fighter-- Next Generation (Semi-Literate, Fighting)

The year is 2074. A devastating world war has decimated the planet's population allowing the dark organization of Shadowlaw to occupy the territories once known as French Indo-China and the southern half of China itself. The New Confederated States of America and the Euro-Russo Union struggle to maintain integrity. The streets aren't safe at night as dozens of gangs have taken over. Where the gangs and the fragmented governments hold no sway, massive corporations control huge tracts of once-great cities. The mega-elite hold an almost feudal level of control over billions of wage slaves and factory thralls.

The insane dictator M. Bison has called another tournament of fighters, promising a prize of twelve million mega-credits to the winner, enough to drag anyone out of poverty and put them on the same footing as the world's elite. However, it isn't only the bedraggled and sad masses that would love to make the money. The military elements of the world would love to see M. Bison fall, and Shadowlaw is also a threat to the various corporations that own the planet.

Rumors persist that not only is Bison looking for a challenger worthy of him, but he may also be looking for someone to take over when his aging body, ravaged by the Psycho energy, fails him...

Rules

1- Be respectful of the other roleplayers. We are all martial artists here, above petty arguments and flaming.

2- This RP is to be semi-literate during non-fight scenes. Somewhere in the 5-10 sentence range is preferable with decent spelling and grammar. Perfection is not insisted upon. Third person present tense is. Obviously that sort of wordiness is unneeded for a combat scene. Use only the sentences you need to describe your moves and combos please when you are in an actual fight.

3- Obey the GaiaOnline TOS please.

4- Please PM profiles to me for placement. Don't worry yourself about heading of the PM.

5- No called shots. You may call the strike, but it is your opponent who will decide if something hits. And on that note, no God-Moding. This is important for fair play. We're real fighters here for the most part, we know what will likely work and what won't work in terms of combat.

6- Only a few characters in all of Street Fighter's long history have ever used weapons. Use them only if they are appropriate to the character, and remember that you cannot kill another player's character without their consent.

7- Drama is encouraged. Romance is encouraged. Things best left in the PMs are not encouraged, at least not in public.

Dramatis Personae

Your Name: quiet_way
Character Name: Ryker Fury
Age: 25
Fighting Style(s): A blending of southern Dragon-style Baguazhang and Japanese Aiki-jutsu.
Story: Ryker has little interest in the actual money that Shadowlaw is putting up for the winning of the tournament. Having learned second-hand the legends of some of the old Street Fighters from prior tournaments, he has entered to prove to himself that he is a great fighter and to push himself to the very limits of his skills against some of the other best fighters in the world.

Ryker was brought up during the Third World War. His family was captured during the Russian invasion of Seattle in the fourth year of the war. Held in an internment camp, he learned his fighting in secret from a sympathetic Russian guard who had picked up the styles during the campaigns in Northern China and Japan. When the war ended almost ten years later, the guard took Ryker and his family with him, providing for them out of his own pockets. In gratitude, Ryker took the Anglicized version of the Russian's last name as his own, turning Furikov into Fury. Leaving his parents behind, the young man set out for Southern China and the Shadowlaw tournament...
