Enfaya had sent out the doves this very morning with the letters to all the patrons of the Sun fraction, the letter went something like this:

Greetings fellows of the Sun Faction!
My tidings are of dangerous times.
Intelligence suggests the Moon Faction are trying to resurrect their Queen.
Enfaya wishes your presence and ideas at a meeting to be held at the Elder Tree.
Please assemble soon. All of our lands are in danger.
Yours Faithfully,
Voren

She had used Voren’s name in the hopes that they would recognize the name of the one that had given out the seedling. Surely, the Patrons would answer the call, there was no time to waste. The dark queen could not be resurrected, not after she had tried to enslave all those within Sanctum. Enfaya would not allow that to happen once more, else the tree of life would also die.

It would be midnight soon, many defenders had already gathered at the bottom of the tree. Small floating paper lanterns illuminated the night, but nothing would be able to get the eerie feeling out of the air. From her view atop the tree, Enfaya could see the gathering mist on the other side of Sanctum, not a good sign. She still had no idea who had organized the forces of the moon together, and finding them wouldn’t be easy. Some of the defenders had been scattered about, sending birds when they saw something. But they all said the same thing in the end, she is coming. A small fire lite up in the distance, Enfaya starred at it for a long time. They needed to start their own meeting now.

Slowly, Enfaya made her way back down the tree in the hopes that everyone had arrived. She settled on one of the many large gnarled roots of the tree, starring down at each face. Not a single happy face, everyone was grim, the wind smelled of a coming war. “Friends,” Enfaya raised her voice. “Tonight we gather because we have had news that the dark queen is going to be summoned this very night.” She paused, waiting for their reaction. So young, Enfaya never thought she would see war again. “The rumors have been confirmed, and tonight we must plan to make sure the dark queen does not return to this world. What do you say?”

Cinfai pulled on Safiyah's hand as he tried to speed ahead of her, though she tightened her grip and yanked him back to her side.

"Come on! We're almost there~~ I can see the lights!" He was pouting and yet he still managed to sound happy and excited.

"Yes we are. So there is no reason to hurry." she replied in her usual quiet tone.

"mmmmMMMMMMMN~!!!" he complained wordlessly, though slowed his pace to match hers anyways. He began swinging her hand back and forth animatedly.

At first, after Voren had shown her how to draw the sprite out of the little tree that had grown from her seed, she had been shocked. The resulting being had been loud, bouncy and literally in her face. All things she had previously avoided like a plague. However, the given circumstances had forced her to adapt and quickly; the young being had become fully her responsibility.

She also found she was significantly less flustered when dealing with other people now. Most likely due to the fact that a majority of normal beings were not nearly as..... enthusiastic, as Cinfai.

As they entered the clearing around the elder tree, Safiyah took note of all those present.

"Let's go closer!" He pulled on her hand once more.
"You go, I'll stay here." and she firmly planted her feet in the soft grass.
".....ok." Looking a little sad or perhaps worried at their parting, Cinfai let go of the other's hand and quickly glided to the roots of the large tree, eager to discover what was going on.

~~
At Enfaya's speach, Cinfai's bright eyes sparkled energetically and his small chest puffed up with inner self importance.

"I won't let anything bad happen to anyone!" He responded to her rally. The claim was obviously over the top, though he didn't seem to notice himself. Instead his tone had been perfectly honest, so much so that one might just start to believe he could...

It’d taken hours of deliberation before Mentari was forced into action; urged out of her home to stop unnerving her mother with the constant silence that always made the sick woman uncomfortable. The young woman didn’t take well to making critical decisions on short notice. She preferred to take her time on any matter that might affect someone to a high degree by waiting a day. Or two. Or three.

Soon the letter had said, though. And talked of meeting and dangers. She didn’t know a single damn thing about this Elder Tree or Sun and Moon factions, but she did know Voren. Despite his strange, otherworldly appearance and cryptic messages, he had been a breath of fresh air that encouraged her to live more for herself. Even with the fear and fights that accompanied such thinking, there was a certain peace of mind: and for that feeling she owed a great deal to Voren.

She chanted this to herself when she’d ran through the strange gate that the blonde had disappeared into when he left. When she opened her green eyes, Mentari’s surroundings were…beautiful. Breathtaking. Stunning!

Unrecognizable.

‘Maybe this debt could have been repaid in some other way,’ she thought to herself bitterly. Her brunette hair had been tied back as the journey to this Sanctum was longer than expected. A local of the world had caught her in a combined fit of culture shock and anxiety attacks, then talked her down with the assumption of Mentari a disabled child lost from her home. Embarrassed of such a display? Yes. Yes she most certainly was. She asked for directions and ran off, across what the man had said was the border of Taia and into Sanctum. After a point there was a tree in the distance so large that she couldn’t have missed it, and followed the sight of its branches as the sun set.

When Mentari had reached the meeting point, she’d stayed to the outer edge of the small ring that had gathered and stared up at the tree in awe. How could any plant in existence be so huge? A series of lights were about here and there, shining on the few faces that had showed as well. The tanned woman then realized there was nothing holding up said lanterns. A trick? Her brow furrowed and she began to feel nervous again.

Before she had a chance to contemplate on just how out of character of her this was- this place, was she actually in a dream? – a shuffling noise had startled her. She turned to where everyone else was staring and took in a woman with whose appearance was ever stranger than Voren’s.

"The rumors have been confirmed, and tonight we must plan to make sure the dark queen does not return to this world. What do you say?”

Well. She supposed she shouldn’t have expected a less dramatic announcement.

She looked to her left and right, her face questioning. She was desperate for assistance, but she did really want to make herself more of an outsider? Mentari palmed the seed in her pocket. Everyone else appeared to know the depth of the situation, to which Mentari foolishly tried to convey as well. Someone one in the front had spoken up; a voice so rambunctious that it seemed to turn the serious vibe on its head. It gave her confidence to speak. She had to decide on a way to get more information without seeming foreign.“W-what proof?” The deep voice paused to gain strength. “What proof is there of the…dark queen’s return? How do we know for sure?” She scolded herself of the show in weakness and focused to remain impassive.

Too few had come to the meeting Enfaya had called, not enough, she had need of more. However, it was better than no one at all. These people cared enough to come, she would take care of them.

When the sprite spoke up, Enfaya glanced at Cinfai. So young, but he was the first sprite she’d seen in a while. “Little one, where is your patron?” She glanced into the crowd, surely his patron was near. “You are too young still to understand what is going on around you, but the task of protecting everyone does not rest only on your shoulders.” If she’d been closer, Enfaya might have placed a hand on his hair. She wanted to be so happy to see Sanctum growing, but it was such a terrible day. “I promise you however, I will not let anything bad happen to anyone.” It was her duty for now, to make sure everyone was safe.

The only other to speak up was a patron, her seedling still growing. “An evil old general has come out of hiding, he has sent out letters to gather all of the queens followers to summon her back.” She moved down the root she’d been perched on and weaved through the crowd. “Proof you want,” Enfaya extended the letter towards her, “Proof you shall receive.” She turned to the others. “The are gathering now, tonight as we are right now. We must stop them before the queen returns or we are all doomed.” Enfaya turned her attention back to Mentari. “If you want more proof, we shall meet the one’s who have gathered to meet the queen and confront them.” Then, they would all see the evil lurking in the shadows.

Cinfai's lips pressed out into a very visible pout. "She's back there." He turned a bit and pointed to the shadows a ways behind them where an obscured figure could be seen. "Being all unsoci-... socia.... not fun."

Then in reply to what Enfaya said after, that is wasn't just his responsibility, he tapped his chest with one finger and declared: "oh~! I don't mind! I do it all the time for Safi." He had completely ignored the first part of her statement.

Safiyah could tell he was about to become over excited. Something that could lead to rather rowdy outbursts and demands that everyone watch how capable he was (whether that was the case or not), so she stepped quietly forth and placed a hand on the sprite's shoulder. He looked up at her happily, though frowned a bit when she shook her head in warning.

Pouting again, he fell silent and listened as the woman explained the situation, looking excited at the prospect of what she mentioned at the end.

Standing slightly on the balls of her feet did nothing to help Mentari get a clear sight of who was the ‘little one’ that had been addressed. She thought she caught a glimpse of horns before it was her turn to receive and answer.

Mentari flinched back as the few made way for the speaker amongst them. When she realized the woman was coming towards her, her hands clenched and unclenched. In the letter Voren had mentioned a woman who’d requested the people named Enfaya. Was this her? She drew back as the other came to stop in front of her, parchment in hand and offered over to the shorter woman. She looked from the paper, to the white-eyed woman, and back again. Thin fingers held onto the letter carefully, scanning it a second and third time in disbelief.

As Enfaya went on the whereabouts of the ‘queen’s followers’, Mentari’s grip crinkled the letter slighty. He’d mentioned defending people, but I thought he was referring to everyone at home, she thought- ‘he’ being the man who’d given her the seed. I never imagined this! She worried her lip, looking back up when Enfaya turned her attentions to the nervous gaian. So much for not standing out.

“If you want more proof, we shall meet the ones who have gathered to meet the queen and confront them.”

“I-!” ‘I don’t want anything!’ She’d yelled in her mind, but her words were caught in her throat. How else could she react? You can’t just spring a war on her and expect a confident answer! Was the woman taunting her? Them? Were there really others who would join together under someone who called themselves the ‘dark queen’? Mentari regarded those around her- in their own small meeting. She couldn’t bring herself to believe Enfaya a liar.

Her face pleaded some kind of intervention, and she looked to to the other that had spoken up before her: a floating figure, standing more or less next to a long haired woman with blue eyes. She turned back without anything to the stranger though, and frowned in thought of a reasonable answer to leader of the group. “I just- confront them? Then what are we supposed to do?” She asked with uncertainty.

Enfaya adored Sprites, they were so innocent and full of life. Life that the tree needed to survive, if Voren did not produce more Patrons they would all be doomed. She had no idea how many were already on the Moons side, but she had to keep her hopes up.

“You will not confront them alone, we will fight magic with magic. While some of your seedlings may still be young, I will protect you.” Enfaya did not know what they would do in all honesty, the tree of life was still too weak she could barely make out it’s whispers. It was not a good sign, perhaps she should give these people courage? Moving back tot the tree, Enfaya put and hand on the tree and turned towards the crowd. “Do you know why you fight? Why I have called you here? Do you know Sanctums history?” Maybe then they would understand what was happening, maybe then they could all figured out what they were going to do. Enfaya glanced at the moon and stars, they needed to hurry.

If only she’d hidden the scribe better, if only the item had been far more protected, things would not be so. Enfaya had burned the scroll that held the enchantment that had sealed the queen, and she had done her best to hid the man who had done the enchantment. She had stumbled onto him one day as he was examining the roots of the tree of life, they’d met and he had given her the scroll. The general had found him, tortured the poor old man until he was given the scroll and then killed him. The items she had in trusted only to her most loyal of people, they too had finished with harsh fates, and the general had gathered the pieces to form the item once more. Things, were not looking very good.

"Magic." Mentari said, deadpan. She was in no place to deny it; if she was honest with herself, the woman would admit that she was just taking it all in as an out of body experience. There would be time for skeptics when she wasn't in the presence of others.

"You said we're in danger because of The Queen." She sidestepped the last two questions. She also didn't voice the opinion that if they were to fight with magic, then why was she- who was so very lacking in that department- summoned to the meeting. She hesitated before folding the letter she still held to keep from fidgeting. "But I don't know what she's done." She watched Enfaya look towards the sky and glanced up as well. The...moon faction meeting was going on right now. Did that mean they would have to react just as soon?

"Nope! Not at all~!" Cinfai answered the inquiry about history. "No one does I think. Other than it happened a long time ago.. which is probably why no one knows." He said this smiling as if he thought he was being a big help.

"Oh and.." His eyes then cast downwards. "I don't really know any magic yet.. But I'll learn!" He clenched his small fist, eyes blazing.

Safiyah just stayed quiet and listened to everyone, expression blank. However, inwardly she was weighing all that was said and sizing up those that spoke.

“The Queen is, well has been killing the life tree.” While Izyebel had no idea what’s she’d done, she had not wanted to hear council from Enfaya and had titled her a traitor. “While she was ruling and sanctum was thriving with many patrons, she tried to enslave those who slipped into Sanctum and returned to their home world at the days end. She thought Sanctum was losing it’s purity, and closed off all the portals after calling one of the biggest meetings in all of history to trap everyone here.” That was when the killing started happening, when people became deivded and war became a routine.

“People did not like this and they waged war against each other as they picked sides. Because there weren’t any new patrons coming int he tree of life started dying, when I tried to reason with the queen she would not listen and cast me out as a traitor. The tree allowed me to seal away the queen, but now her general is trying to unseal her once more. Tonight he plans to release her.” Over time, only Voren had been able to open up certain portals and move between realms secretly as he was give the task of finding new patrons for Sanctum. “Do you understand now, why you, everyone is in danger?”

Mentari held her gaze with the speaker as she received a history lesson. But when she started to talk about a past war, she looked away and beyond the others. Tari felt like an idiot. Everyone else must have know about such a drastic event, and she appeared as someone ignorant of her surroundings. Oh, if only the ground would be so kind as to split and swallow her up to save Mentari from such embarrassment.

She mulled over the word 'patrons.' The elven creature spoke of home worlds; is that what she was then? Patrons seemed to have some influence on the 'life tree' as she called it. Mentari eyed the tree. An outsider having to do with the vitality of something like that...it didn't make sense. All of this must have to do with the plant Voren gave her.

But Enfaya had also referred to an actual person, asked them where their patron was. Would they have a partner to help them care for the plant then? Hopefully someone who did know magic? Again Mentari assumed the meanings of what was said, and tucked it everything away to question when all of this was over. She wished the blonde man could have clarified all of this when he gave her this gift he'd called it. Gift or not, Mentari just might have thrown the seed back in his face had she known what he was getting her into. Strength, kindness, she had none of these things he'd claimed existed in her. It was all ignorance- and a lack of will that left her to do what she was told.

Maybe that's what made her ideal for this situation.

She didn't look at Enfaya when she was questioned, and was done with speaking up herself; She'd felt enough of being a fool today. Mentari did however give a slight tilt of her head in acknowledgment. The situation was evident enough, as well as the expectation that they were somehow to stop it all from spiraling.

When no one spoke again, Enfaya glanced around. Everything was quiet, did this mean they were ready to take on the endeavor? This silence meant, ye, yes they were, but before they left, Enfaya had a little gift for them. Moving into the roots of the tree, she came out holding a few treelings who were squirming in her arms, others trailed behind her. “These will help keep you safe, pick one and name them for they will be yours to keep.” Gently setting the treelings down, Enfaya watched them wobble away to their new owners, they were so cute, and yet so dangerous in the wrong hands. “Now, the tree of life will give us the quickest path to Vritra. Those who are with me, follow me closely, others…” She glanced into each face. “Stay here.” They di not need anyone hindering them on their voyage.

Cinfai has stayed strangely quiet during the explanation, which had surprised Safiyah. Though in reality, his silence was not out of reverence for the severity of the subject, but more along the lines of him trying to figure out what the concepts meant as he had never really thought into 'slavery' and 'oppression'.

At the mention and appearance of the treelings, something Cinfai found much easier to grasp.

"Oou!" He knelt (as well as one can kneel with no legs) to the ground and waited for one of the little beings toddle over. Poking its cheek gently, he wondered aloud "We're supposed to pick a name? uh..." He looked back and up to Safiyah, a bit of a pleading look on his face. Safiyah simply shrugged and didn't offer any suggestions.

"muuu~ fine.. uh....Cassivaeruis!" His knowledge of everything this world had to offer was still very limited, so he found himself having to rely upon the few books he had read in his short time. This name belonged to the main character of his current favorite: One full of love, adventure and valor. The little creature seemed to frown as Cinfai picked it up, folding it's stubby little arms across its chest, though it behaved well enough.

"OH! I'm coming! For sure I'm coming!" Cinfai quickly drifted over to Enfaya's side as she seemed to head for the tree its self, Safiyah following along silently as was her duty.

There was a pain in her shoulders from how stiff they’d become. Mentari had immediately tensed at the sight of an alien like creature wobbling towards her. It finally made its destination, its whole body shifting to appear as if it were looking up at her. It touched her, and Mentari felt her lip curl. She breathed through her nose, slowly trying to unwind. The brunette reminded herself that it was a gift, and Enfaya did say it would offer some safety.

Slowly she bent down and lifted the creature, arms outstretched. She had to give herself a moment before she was able to bring it closer then hold it to herself. They were to name these things now? Maybe not, but it would certainly make things easier than calling it ‘the thing’ in her head.

Nothing came to mind immediately. It wiggled like a child, ticklish, when she prodded its center in a less frightful fashion. A sudden thought entered her brain. She tried to push it away, but now it was all she could consider. Her father had always expected a son, and even before they were sure of the gender the old man had called the unborn child by the decided name; he took pride in it made it his mission to tell of his disappointment in not having a second son when he’d thought long and hard for a strong enough title. Much as the story annoyed her, Mentari was always amused by how simple-minded her father was. The name wasn’t very creative to begin with. But it would do. “You can have my first name: Dontae.” It was a promise of possible regret and a constant reminder of one dry story, but she accepted the commitment.

Mentari definitely felt an edge to Enfaya’s words. She clutched the treeling close to her in a sudden rush of nerves. A part of her wanted to stay. There was a foreboding ring to the statement and the leader’s eyes. Was she with them? Well, she was here: at some secret war meeting, in a different world, holding a moving plant. If Mentari put it into perspective, she was already in deep. She could ignore all this, pretend it had nothing to do with her, but…

A being went to the tree woman’s side. A young boy. With no legs. She stared wide-eyed as it floated, eager to move on to next part of their journey. Yes. It was defiantly past the point of no return.

The young patron took slow, measured steps to join them at the base of the life tree.
