Remember last year when I got hit with that XP Internet Security virus thing? That stupid program that tells you your computer is more infected than that first guy from The Stand?
There's a 2012 version out now. Got hit with it here going on 4 hours ago now. JUST got rid of it.
Was/am running Microsoft Security Essentials as up to date as it can be and it missed the thing. Figuring that maybe most virus scanners (and remember, Norton is powerless against this) aren't yet ready for this thread. Have had H download fix files (to USB drive) and print instructions just in case he gets hit too. I'd advise all of you to do the same as the fix for this requires a clean computer or portable media such as a USB memory stick or burnable CD. Better safe than sorry.
The search term you're looking for is (Your operating system) Internet Security 2012
Mine was: Vista Internet Security 2012.
I got my fix from bleeping computer dot com after doing some research about its safety.
That's my advice, loves. Take it or leave it. heart

I am! gonk Onnn...my XP machine. You know, the one I've only seen twice since June '11? crying (Edit: I'm stuck on my laptop till the dog learns to behave. The laptop whose power cord he keeps chewing... stressed )
Like a dumbunny I listened to H when he suggested MSE. And of course it came up yesterday while I was ranting during the debug and he swears up and down he never told me it was any good. We had a juicy little fight about it.

I should've remembered. +Pets.+ As a sidenote using up the Gender Bender freebies did not fix my problem with Love Charm II. Looks like I have this eyesore stuck on my inventory. I'll try with another browser but as my avatar is male again - and with awful eyes - I can't in good conscience hold my breath. Edit: Love Charm was fixed apparently. And I'm sticking with these eyes.

I'm a little picky, I guess. I'm giving it some serious thought. Heading into the salon in a bit. How'd the knitting go?

Little bit. whee Knitting went well. It's really fun. I'm not really getting it though. redface Might be a practice issue, might not. I know some of it is the instructions I have. They're not the clearest. (Thank goodness for the internet.) Some of the rest of it has to be tied up in the fact that my left hand has and will likely always have an I.Q. of 2. (Speaking of an I.Q. of 2...my Aquarium's black screen again. I'm getting really sick of having to re-set my browsing habits every couple of days.)
ME>*snuggle* Relationships go through phases. (Mine's a moody teenager right now.)
We always have certain problems the first and worst being that we see way too much of each other. It's been nice these last few days as he's been hiding out upstairs 'cause he's sick. Not to say I like that he's sick 'cause that sucks and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
The second big problem is that he has dementia. Memories are not filed appropriately if at all. So there's a lot of "Yes you did/no I didn't" arguments going on. A lot of that has to do with things that are said. I have a nearly photographic (or whichever term that is) memory for conversations if they're face-to-face with someone I know fairly well--and so long as they don't contain detailed instructions. XD That recall ability has dropped off some since 2007 when I stopped getting decent sleep but I'm always the first to acknowledge that as a factor.
Him on the other hand...he digs in his heels and gets defensive at best. Puts it over on me like I'm making up stories and situations "just to make him look bad." This tags my temper into the ring. We both know dementia is a factor. NOD TO IT!
He lies a lot. Little, stupid, occasionally white lies that he absolutely will not come clean about when called on it. That causes shouting.
He doesn't reason. He can't look at a situation and see something needs done. (And I swear it's intentional.) Like his coat falls off the chair (let's not get into how there's a coat closet right by the front door, I'm bad about coats too.) He'll stand over the stupid thing and say: Why is my coat on the floor??
But he won't pick it up. He'll just pass by later and go: Why is my coat on the floor? (That's actually pretty similar to how my mug got smashed in truth...but hey, we all overlook things now and again.)
Swear to Goddess it's like living with a child.
And of course I've talked about how we fight about food. I swear I'm going to start handling him like I've been handling a couple of Bastian's habits. Shout NO, give him 3 seconds to mind me and if he doesn't, hurl a log at him.
In any case I could go on for hours about the repeat offenses. They are many...
Your turn. whee

Oh dear not good V
As to knitting, I've NEVER been able to do it properly, and I was taught by my aunt and great gran. It always ended up full of holes. I don't know how I manage it. Start with 10 stitsches...half way through have 9 stitches...at the end I'd have 13? Er..what?
As to H...it sounds exactly like Jeff (that being Dan's father), but he can't blame his forgetfulness on dementia. He just lies. Especially when there's three of us to tell him he said something different. And he's mean...just mean and rude and hurtful. Venomous is probably a better term here. I was close to tears the other day which of course puts dan's back up

V>You're already something pretty. Buy me yarn. whee
I have that problem...I'm not sure how I did it either but I started with 20 and am holding at 23. I can find a couple of spots where it might have happened but I can't say for sure. The only thing I know about mysterious gaps in knitting is that if you don't bring your thread to the front when you start a purl you'll get one. I do love this little starter kit & book though (Klutz) even aside from the instruction gaps (more about the way I learn I think) and the fact that it doesn't teach you how to read a pattern.
Jeff sounds like an a** and I'm sorry you and Dan have to go through that. *piles on w/V for the hugging* Chin up. It's really hard but you guys don't live w/him, right? So you get a break?
