Hopped up on JOY, (and starting to feel a bit of withdrawl) Marcus had teamed up with Ariane to go and hang out at the jungle outpost. Granted by ‘hang out’ is was supposedly a duty where they were to keep an eye out for halloween creatures but with his mind stuck on ‘PRESENTS’ and ‘COOKIES’ and ‘PRESENTS OF COOKIES’ Marcus wasn’t going to be observing much, if at all. The closest he’d get to that would be watching the sky for santa. Or watching his bag off confectionery delights.
The cookies were helping to minimize the lack of JOY and distinct lack of presents being showered down upon them. A travesty to be sure. Leaning against the wall, Dis was in his head blabbering about just why he should stop playing with the tinsel he found and focus, (Marcus was able to do that for like… 3 minutes). Still, the tindle was pretty interesting. Very festive, which this outpost was seriously lacking. “Hey Ariane.” He looked around. It was almost night and there weren't even christmas lights on anywhere. Not to mention that there were not many placed to decorate and not have it look all pathetic and alone. “Why didn’t they decorate out here?”

Ariane knew that JOY was a bad idea, but it was so addictive, so hard to get rid of or forget; she had never felt this happy (or this high) before, not even when she moved out of her parents' place, not even when she was given the chance to leave everything behind and start over, not even when she became a hunter... Besides, her mind was still hung up on how they never got to unwrap that giant present and the smaller ones during the party.
"I don't know, Marcus," She stared at their surroundings before sighing, nibbling on her cookie, "I bet this place would look awesome with some sparkling Christmas lights... It's so dark... How would Santa ever find us?"

That was basically the jist of it. They would be stuck here alone, unfound, with no gifts or anything. Santa would have trouble finding them and this was a travesty and needed to be corrected. But- "We don't have any lights!" Oh god they were doomed.
A bite of his cookie. "Hrm..." Well. They would have to improvise. "We can turn on all the lights. Or sing Christmas carols! I bet that will make Santa notice us. Or tinsel." He set the scrap he had on the windowsill. "Tinsel is always fun."

"I wish we could decorate this outpost," She sighed wistfully, looking at Marcus with a thoughtful hum, swallowing the JOY cookie and feeling instantly better - it was like magic, "Make it light up so bright that it can be seen from outer space... Or at least seen by Santa when he's passing by on his sleigh."
She nodded in agreement, "Let's turn on all the lights and sing Christmas carols. Oh, and lay out some cookies-" She pointed at the bag, "I heard Santa likes those... Practically Santa bait. Too bad we don't have any milk."
Ah, the misery of being stuck in an outpost with no Christmas supplies!

They could decorate it and light it up. WITH FIRE. Wait no that was a terrible idea, Santa might land and catch himself on fire! Or the present might catch on fire. Also bad. Ariane was right though, they didn't have milk. "We will have to make due. Think Santa will be okay with water? That isn't insulting right? I mean, milk is mostly water...isn't it?"
Marcus was clearly thinking hard about this. Flipping on the search lights and lights in general. Somewhere a hunter might b***h about the electric bill but it was all in the name of CHRISTMAS. "OPH shoot we need to hide. Or sleep. How can we sing in our sleep ARIANE WHAT DO WE DO?"

"We could label it as milk," She whispered, but felt instantly guilty at the idea of tricking Santa; she was still a good girl! Half the time! Okay, maybe a third of the time but that was good enough, right?
"Calm down, soldier!" She might had slapped Marcus when he started speaking in what she thought was his panic voice, "We cold pretend to be sleep singing! I'm sure Santa had seen sleep singing people... He'll never realize that we were only pretending!" Flawless plan.

She was so collected. So pro. Unlike him, who was worried that Santa would put them on the naughty list if they tried to pull a fast one. "Sleep singing?" He asked, genuinely thinking it totally logical even as Dis was telling him no, that was not logical. Not in the slightest. Too bad Dis, Marcus was ignoring your Grinch spirit.
"OH well, it might work. Yes let us try that!" He was looking for a place to lay down in seconds. "Do you want the chair or the floor? I am good either way." At least he was being somewhat polite.

"I'll take the chair," In fact, she walked over to the chair and plopped down on it as she said that, "You can take the floor." The chair sounded more comfortable to her, since the floor wasn't exactly made of anything soft, but she was trying very hard to make it seem like she gave Marcus the better option.
"Okay, so... We'll pretend to sleep for a little while, and then start singing," She instructed, turning the chair so that she was straddling it, her arms folded and resting on the top of the back of the chair, "You know. To make it more realistic."

SIGH Okay Ariane. he';d take the floor. This time. Next time it would be your turn and he'd get the chair. But you were a lady and since this was the first time he'd let you have it. Just this time. Going over to the other side, he sat down before trying to lay down. Sadly? It was very uncomfortable. It took a bit of rolling around before he finally stopped, and closed his eyes. Staying silent for all of 30 seconds, he began to belt out 'Santa clause is coming to town'
Only to stop at 'He's knows when you're awake' and then looking Ariane. PLAN FAILED.

Ariane was actually slumped over the back of the chair, pretending to be asleep; however, as her partner in crime sung on, it was obvious that yes. The plan was failing. Santa knows.
He knows all.
It was actually a little creepy, now that she was thinking about it... However, she wasn't one to actually drone too long on things, and it soon became just another thought at the back of her Joy-filled brain. Turning to look at Marcus, she sighed, shaking her head, "We'll just have to wait another year for the lights to go up, and... For Santa to return to us..." She paused, "You think our shift's over? I feel like drinking some hot chocolate, and not the Julie variety either."

Slumping his shoulders, it was right. A whole other year of waiting. Why was it so lonnggggg? Couldn't they just, go into a pod and sleep until then? Or was that naughty since they they would be lazy? Oh well, they had a year to figure it all out thankfully. Nodding, marcus couldn't think of any other things to do. Plus he was sure the shift was over. Time flew when waiting for Santa and fake sleeping.
"Hot chocolate would be good. But-" He looked at the lights they had on, wasting electricity. "We should leave them on. In the spirit of the holidays."

Pushing herself off the chair, she stretched her limbs before frowning at her fellow hunter's suggestion; was wasting electricity considered something 'naughty' to do? What if that put them on Santa's naughty list? What if she waited another whole year, just to end up getting nothing but a stupid piece of coal in her stocking, just because she decided to not turn off the lights?
After a few seconds of internal conflict, Ariane reluctantly nodded, walking over to the search lights to give them a pat, watching how the light beamed through the fog and all the way up into the sky, "Sure, why not? Merry Christmas, Marcus. May your new year be filled with lots of wonderful presents." Never mind that Christmas was actually sort of over already.
"Now, how about that hot chocolate...?" She grinned, "If we're lucky, Julie wouldn't be anywhere near the kitchen when we go get a cup! No chance of food poisoning!"
