In the guild I used to run we had a ton of different contests going on at once. And I'm sorry about the page-stretching. Here are a few ideas! Some were: Counting to 1000: (simple easy, ups the post count) ---------- Hey guys. Well, I'm kinda bored, so I made this topic. Lets all count to 1000. I think it's quite possible!
How this works is I start at 0, and the next post someone makes is 1, and after that, 2, and so on!
BASICALLY: We're just gonna count to 1000! The same person can't post 2 times in a row. You can only count 1 number higher in a post; each post can only have 1 number in it!
Let's start. 0 --------- Member Raffle (which is great because of 2 things: more members, and its another contest) --------- The Member Raffle
Well, an AWESOME crew member of mine thought this one up. It's a raffle, but you don't PAY for the tickets. You get tickets by.... GETTING FRIENDS TO JOIN!!! Each person who joins the guild saying YOU invited them is one ticket for you. Read what my crew member Laura wrote: maybe we could up the member count, like, if members invite people(not the crew with the moderator panel) but whoever invites someone gets their name written into raffle, every person, another chance. Unless that is already how the whole thing works.......So...I'm listening to her. :] YOU ALL have a chance to win! The only rule to play is: the crew/vice captains may play, but they cannot use their Moderator Panel Invite Option.
The person you invited HAS To mention you in their join request, or else you don't get a ticket for that person.
This is helping the guild AND giving you guys a prize. What could be better than THAT?!
AND....if you donate 1k to the guild starting NOW, you get an extra ticket per 1k. REMEMBER, the gold has to be donated to... The Random Idiot! She's the guild mule.I will draw a random number after the contest ends, and whomever has the ticket number I draw wins the prize. Second prize will be determined the same way! ALSO: the same person CANNOT win both. The prizes are.... FIRST PLACE WINS ___________! SECOND PLACE WINS "______________"! ----------Dice-Rolling Contest: (this is boring, but fun nevertheless.) ----------
...July 2009's Dice Rolling Contest...
Hey guys!! The guild is hosting yet another contest! This one's gonna rock. Read the rest of this post to figure out how to participate in the contest, and what the rules/guidelines are for this!
-How to Play-
~Roll ten dice, that are 10 sided. ~If you get 83 or more/20 or less, you win!! ~When you win, send me a link to the post in a PM. ~Don't try to cheat, since I can ban you.
-Rules- ~Follow the Gaia TOS[Terms of Service] ~No swearing, rude remarks/comments, or harrassing. ~Try to keep it PG-13, okay????
Prize: 100k OR something of equal value!

Tragedy of the Commons I have a contest~ The member who can recruit the most people wins. Its beneficial to the guild too. c: Similar to the 2nd idea. I like it. Except I guess it is a wee bit more fair the way you suggested cause the person who did the most work gets rewarded, not the luckiest person.

The reason why I came here on Gaia is to escape life's "features", and one of it is life. Surely, can't we keep luck out of our guild? ;D And yeah, more workforce, less luck included.

I think that the only problem with the entire idea of that kind of contest is that sometimes people join, and when they're not entirely interested they don't post. Cause in my old guild, out of 500 members, what ended up happening was about 200 posting, but only about 75 posting more than a few times. :

Maybe we should make the details of the contest somewhere in these lines: arrow The recruits should be interested in the guild, not just someone who wants to help his friend win the contest. arrow Both recruits and recruiters should always be active in the guild. arrow So on and so forth.
