Personally, I have been a gaian for over seven years. In those seven years, I have been in and out of gaia and in and out of various guilds frequently. In my fairly expansive friends list, probably less then half have posted in the last three years. I haven't seen any online in the past three days that I've been active. Sudden failure is a common trait not only of gaians and their guilds, but of all internet communities.
I haven't been a member of this guild for all of my seven years, but as long as I have been, I can always count on seeing one name every time I get on after a long absence, and that name is "Funkyblueeyes." I have never been active in this guild in particular, not even enough so to know if Funkyblueeyes is one person or a mule account used by all the mods, but I do know that whoever is running this show is the most dedicated gaian I know, and I appreciate that. So here's a thread for all of you oddballs to say something nice about the Funky or one of the other mods, and let them know that we appreciate this haven they've given us.
Here's to Funkyblueeyes. Here's to our dedicated mods. Here's to Odd One Out.

Aww thank you so much! heart I am one person. Haha.
I know I haven't always stuck around as much as I should. Sometimes I don't post for a bit but I will keep coming back as long as there are gaians who continue to come here. The credit of the guild still being alive really goes to the people in here who are continuously active. They're all my unspoken vice captains wink

Wow this guild is going on 6 now... We should have a killer birthday party in July. This. But first, activity needs to be increased, and new members need to be cycled in. There are only, what, five people posting every day, and usually only once? If each of those five get two good people to come in and post regularly, we'd have 15 active members. That's a good sized little community, not too quiet, not too convoluted.

Unfortunately, being almost the only person who invites new members also means I'm aware of the gruesome percentages of people who actually join and stay. Id say for 60 people invited, around 3 will join. And you've seen how many stay. But if you were interested in mass inviting people, I could make you a temporary honorary crew member, to be made permanent if you stick with it =p

Mass invites are a waste of time. All of my guilds have flopped (probably because I randomly stop visiting Gaia altogether), but in my opinion it's far more efficient to get to know people. Send a PM to someone you had a good discussion with on the forum or in a game room, chat them up a little, then let them know a bit about your guild and ask if they'd be interested before you send an invite.
I'm no expert or anything, but in my experience if you take the time to actually talk to someone and get to know them, about 70% will join and post. You have to be active outside the guild, and sometimes it takes a few days, but if you work hard at it, you can cultivate four or five at a time.

I only ever sign on to gaia to check the guild and chat here. I'm not interested in spending sufficient amount of time in other forums in order to invite people I've bonded with wink I bond here!

I propose a contest. Whoever gets the most people to join the guild and mention in the introduction thread who referred them gets the jackpot. I'll pitch in my 13th gen Alruna's Rose.

I'd do it but I've done it before and nobody really participated = Pretty much only like.... Dzinae... I think Ilosia got involved.. That was about the turn-out =P At this time I'd bet you'd participate, and maybe Sean if he had a spare minute. And Sean'd beat you no problem because he has mod privileges and can mass invite =P
