This is a HUGEASS compilation of awesome bands that I've found, heard and reviewed. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did experimenting with it. In the immortal words on Robert Smith of The Cure, "simply awesome."

ALSO, let me note that, yeah, not all of these bands are 'indie' so to speak. But they have a right to be on there as much as any of these other bands. They've made their mark on me, so I'd like to share them with you.

<3 = One of my favorite bands
(+) = Portland local!
(v) = Recommended (member)

(if any other mods or members have some bands that they want listed, talk to me on AIM)

[and for mods only, if you want a band favorited or mentioned they 'OMG, THEY IS FRUM HEYAH', send me a color and a band to mark]

And just to clarify what someone these things mean...
lyrical = thoughtful lyrics
surreal = pretty, though very strange
delicate = not loud
rock-worthy = you can jump around and dance to it

UPDATE! (08/04/07): JESUS CHRIST. WHAT AM I DOING? Okay, so I've been away from this thread too long and now I have about fifty bands to add and maybe I'll actually finish the next section of artists. I'm sure you'd all appreciate that. XDD I think I'm killing Wikipedia now. In either case, keep the bands coming! I need descriptions of the ones you post, because chances are they will be NEW TO ME.

Anyway, sorry this is so off and on in its freshness. I'll do all I can get done today.

(12/19/06): I am still taking requests for the list, but for those of you who would like to argue with my descriptions of bands, do not accuse me of having not listened to the band or be wrong since it is simply from one prespective. And even then, it's the internet.

In other news, I'm seventeen. And the end of the list is filled up.
