The arena itself, which actually sits below ground level, spans two hundred feet in diameter with walls twenty feet high before the stands begin. The floor of the arena is sprinkled with just enough sand to cover up the stones beneath, but not enough to be significantly detrimental to footing or traction. Gates at the northern and southern end lead into the arena, through which contenders will enter upon being summoned from their quarters in order to compete in the designated match. The platform is risen only four feet off the ground. The stone is tough and is made to withstand superhuman matches. Though there will be cracks and such to show damage, it is a resilient platform that cannot be destroyed with ease. The ring itself covers a span of seventy-five feet in diameter within the two-hundred span of the whole fighting arena within the seating area (this includes out of bounds).
Out of Bounds: The ground between the platform and the wall of the stands is out of bounds, which naturally starts the ten count. Touching the stands is also out of bounds. If the platform somehow ends up getting chunked somewhere to reveal ground, that exposed ground still becomes time out.

Thurgood waits at the northern gate, looking out at the arena. It's as tall as a wrestling ring, and quite large: about 31,416 square feet; more surface area than most retail stores.
"Your armbands,", aveline says while handing Thurgood said armbands. They're covered in a layer of black kevlar, split in half (with toothed seams instead of straight ones) with nylon webbing joining them together between the inch-thick teak outer core layer, and the 1/8" thick steel inner core layer. They cover from Thurgood's wrist to a couple of inches before his elbow. "your gloves,"Aveline says as she hands him a pair of black kevlar gloves. Between the kevlar layers are plates of steel capping his knuckles as well as his palm, cut to allow normal gripping and only slightly limited hand movement. Thurgood puts the gloves on before he puts the arm bands on and tightens the webbing. "your pickax," Aveline says as she hands her older brother his wood-handled, hardware-store-standard pickax and its nylon webbing strap. "your prybar," Aveline hands Thurgood's five-foot long prybar to him along with its nylon webbing strap, and he puts both of them over his shoulders so the weapons are at his back. "and your claw hammer." Aveline hands Thurgood his final weapon: a standard 16-ounce, fiberglass-handled claw hammer.
"I just need to deliver one good hit and I'll be satisfied," Thurgood says, remembering Vrael's taser-fork last year. "Oh, come on! I know you can do more than that! Anyways, I'ma go upstairs and get myself a seat."
Aveline leaves to do just taht, and Thurgood waits for the gates to open and the match to start. "If I'ma have any chance at all out there, I'll need to get in my opponent's face early, stay there, hit hard, and never let up. I think my first swink will be with this hammer, claw first..." Thurgood thinks as he looks out nervously, anxious for the match to begin.
The gate opens...
Thurgood walks out to the arena as the entire crowd boos and throws cups and bottles towards him. Reaching the edge of the platform, Thurgood hoists his pudge up, and the crowd can clearly see and boo at him in his all-black attire moving towards the southern end, thinking of a way he can ambush his opponent right as the fight starts.
