Okay, I made this topic to enjoy a rant I made quite awhile ago. It took me awhile to write, so I'd appreciate if you read all of it before you start to comment.

The topic I'm aiming at is Risa vs. Riku Harada. Who is better? Well, I'm here to tell you the answers with explanations that, in fact, neither is better. They are both equally good characters. I'll explain why.

First of all, we'll start with Risa Harada. Risa Harada is...well...like any normal fourteen-year-old-girl. She's popular, pretty and actually, very sweet. Yet, shes also very high-maitenance. In the anime, it is made apparent that Risa lives in a mansion (or a really big house) and is used to being spoiled like many rich girls. Yet, she is, as I said before, very sweet. She doesn't know Daisuke likes her in the anime, and tells him that he is her best friends. In the manga, nobody is really for sure what Risa's house is like, because only parts of rooms are shown, but it appears to be either an apartment or a penthouse, and Risa is still very sweet. When she hears of Daisuke's feelings, she replies that she does not like him. For that reason-because she doesn't. Many people get mixed up at that moment, because they think she thinks shes to 'good' to be with Daisuke. Though, that wasn't my interpretation. I feel that if the right man came along, who wasn't gorgeous, popular or someone who would raise her social standings, she would like him. She just didn't like Daisuke, because she thought much more of him like a friend then a boyfriend. Another thing people hate- her stalker side. Well, we know she has a major stalker side in the anime, but the anime and manga are way different. In the anime, Risa goes everywhere Dark goes. However, in the manga, she doesn't. Or, it doesn't show if she does, but we rarely ever see her go out to meet Dark except on rare occassion. And, for those who think Risa is a 'immature b***h', she is far from it. I guess you haven't read volumes 9 and 10 in the manga- where she starts maturing greatly. That's it for Risa.

Now for Riku Harada. Riku Harada could also be considered a normal fourteen-year-old-girl, but shes the tomboy version of one of those. In the anime, at least. In the anime, she is stubborn and, actually, pretty rude. She is very athletic in the anime, too. In the manga, she is still stubborn, but not rude at all. Also, it doesn't seem that she is too athletic in the manga, aside from the fact that she plays Lacrosse, because she trips so damn much. I know there isn't much hate fandom for Riku, so I can't write alot on it.

Risa's too girly and she's selfish...

I like both of the twins i like Risa since she is so determined to win Darks heart. And i like Riku because she seems somewhat deeper than Risa.

crying Finally, someone else who doesnt simply see Risa as an 'immature b***h'... Thank you so much for writing this; even if it doesnt persuade people, at least its nice to know I'm not alone in thinking Risa isnt all that bad...

Riku bugs me. She's not really that bad but... Ugh, its like they purpously gave Risa more faults so people would like her more stare (I dont really hate her though; she has her moments. But still...)

I find this to be a very well written post. And it seems there is a lot of negative energy surrounding the comments pointed at Risa. I don't see why. She is a nice girl. And very cute indeed. There are great differences between the anime and the manga. For one thing: The stalker side of Risa. In the anime she follows Dark wherever he goes. Even if it puts her in a position of danger. She doesn't seem to take it as far in the manga as in the anime, but we do see a number of attempts to meet him.
Apart from that, she does seem a bit spoiled. She even seems to be the 'leader' in the group of girls in her class. But Dark, i think, has been a wakeup call for her. She wakes up to something she hasn't felt before. Some of the time, it seems she forgets everything else around her, but I also believe she sees the same thing happening for her twin sister, Riku.
Knowing that Daisuke has or have had feelings for her, now for her sister, perhaps also makes her a bit jealous. And now I'm at it, perhaps some of those who post negative comments about her, are a little jealous them selves? I know, I'm jealous of Daisuke. redface
