Arihitszu's woven reed rain hat had proved itself in quite a number of downpours, which was good, as the monk enjoyed taking walks in the rain. The wide, flat headgear had come in quite handy since his arrival in Palisade, as well, though the rain today was particularly vicious. The monk had actually planned to avoid a walk today, but then discovered he was in need of a bit more food, and so had ventured out under his hat to purchase a few things to eat.
He was still several blocks from home, though, and could feel the water starting to seep through the hat. Figuring he might take a break to see if the downpour might let up in the next few minutes - for the sake of avoiding a soggy loaf of bread, if for no other reason - Arihitszu stepped under a veranda to wait. Propping his staff against his shoulder to free up a hand, he untied his hat from under his chin and took it off, then ran a palm over his carefully shaved and now slightly dampened scalp.

It was quite the stormy day. Luckily, not a thunderstorm, but just mere rain drenching the thirsty lands. There had been lots of overcast in the past few days, but rain hadn't gave. Today was surely a day that farmers would enjoy, along with all who were reliant on the assistance it gave. But there were others who were not too pleased with it... mostly the upper-class citizens who probably stayed inside most of the day instead of taking their usual strolls around the busy town to browse the wares and gossip about silly, or pointless things. Nadezhda didn't fall under that category, luckily. She had just finished working for the day about an hour prior, cutting out early due to the low flow of customers, thus her superior seeing no point for them to stick around to the usual ending time. Her boss wasn't the most loyal or diligent woman... but Nade wasn't going to complain. She had come prepared for the day, thanks to her brothers reminding, a dark umbrella opened and poised over her curly haired head. Her light cream dress only gained a few spots of the water, but more towards the bottom where her coat didn't cover. She didn't mind of course, after all she was more concerned about the little fawn that was trotting along at her side. Serkan. The buck didn't show any mind to the rain, though, in fact he would peek his head out from the safety of the cover to investigate, blinking as droplets would land on his face or near his eyes, and quickly retreating back to press closer to the woman he'd bonded to. The faintest of smiles would take to the undercover assassins lips at such antic's, naturally finding them quite adorable. They passed by the monk, to which Nade gave a polite nod, but didn't do much else... Serkan, however flipped up his oversized ears upon spotting the bald man, bleating softly a curious note. He slowed a little bit to stare at the monk, but didn't want to be left behind, so turned to trot on back to Nade. Unfortunately, he wasn't too graceful at his age.. and tripped on some of the slippery cobblestone, making Nade quickly stop, and turn her head around to look. Pale olive green eyes widening slightly, she didn't waste any time in change course to return to her precious companion, kneeling swiftly to get at his level, "Serkan.. are you alright..?" she cooed softly, a hand reaching out to gently stroke the baby's head, and down his neck, while looking at his leg. The fawn bleated to her in slight distress, mostly just scared now, and buried his head to her dress for comfort. As her hand followed along his body, she gingerly touched the leg that had been the cause of the slip up, the fawn jerking it in response. It must have sprained in the fall...

The monk smiled as he watched the woman and the young deer pass - their mythology here regarding the creatures was curious, and one of the things he was most interested in learning about. He considered it a bit of a treat when he saw a person who was bonded to one of the deer. It was not something that happened every day, but Arihitszu had gathered that it was more common now than it had been for these people in the past. It reminded him of some of the stories of nature spirits he had grown up with back in his homeland.
When the creature regarded him with a small sound, the monk bowed in response, respectfully form the waist. His amusement turned to concern as he saw the fawn stumble, though, and he shook his rain hat out quickly and replaced it on his head. Setting down his shopping on the curb and propping his staff beside it, he left the items behind without a second thought as he stepped out onto the wet streets again.
"Is he alright?" he inquired as he stepped up behind the woman, looking concerned as he crouched.

Nade gently cradled the injured little leg with great care, brows knitting a little in distress from her frightened fawns reaction. She tried cooing sweetly to calm him, but paused as the monk came on over. She peeked up at him, with a small smile, her gloved thumb running over the tiny hoof, "I think he's sprained it." she replied. It would need to be wrapped straight away, to prevent swelling as best as possible. Carefully, she let go of the leg, and straightened up to give her attention to the monk... giving a curtsy first though in respect, "Sir, if I may ask of you.." she slowly extended her umbrella equipped hand to him to take, "I'll need to take him in someplace warm, and treat it quickly. I do not wish to take up your time, so I can make it quick, I assure you." The little fawn trembled lightly, bleating out of fear more than anything to Nade, pushing his nose against her dress again. He was larger than the average fawn, but... she would carry him.

The foreign monk winced in sympathy and nodded, then bowed respectfully at the waist in the custom of his people in response to her curtsy.
"My home is small but not too much further," he told her, his accent becoming more apparent as he offered more words. Arihitszu accepted the umbrella offered to him, and laughed once at himself. "If you could carry him, please. My arm has little strength left in it." It took a bit of effort from the fingers of his good left hand to curl the fingers of his right around the handle of the brolly. Then he removed his rain hat and offered it to the lady.
"It will keep your clothes dry and your hands free."
He excused himself quietly and darted back to the curb to fetch his own staff and his shopping, paying no apparent mind to the water that seeped into his socks and the mud that splashed the bottom hems of his layered robes. Arihitszu hooked his bag of shopping on the handle of the umbrella, and took his jingling walking staff in his good hand, and returned to the lady's side.
There was etiquette for walking with a lady in this country, he knew, but Arihitszu had not yet figured it out. Perhaps the carrying of a fawn through the rain would absolve him?
"Ah, forgive this foreigner's rudeness," he said anyway, then gestured slightly with the staff - topped with a metal spider that held rings in each of its eight hands. "Follow me, please." And the monk continued back towards his home, largely ignoring now the raindrops that fell around the umbrella.

There was hesitance that coursed through her initially. His home.. ? It was natural for her to be untrusting of others, and entering foreign territory was not something she took lightly. Just like herself, maintaining a fake front of being a normal, respectable young woman, this man could just as easily be playing the same sort of game.
Regardless, she didn't have many choices... and with the gesture to his arm... she felt a clear advantage was in her court should things get unsavory. With a subtle nod in thanks, forcing that smile to remain, even if just slightly, she accepted the hat to dawn, and knelt to begin scooping up the injured baby. He didn't struggle, and was more than glad to be off of the wet, cold ground, and in the arms of his beloved guardian. Cradling the fawn close to her, Nade continued to coo sweetly to keep him calm, even as that little wet nose pressed to her neck, and nuzzled closer for security. The poor thing..
Looking to the stranger, she allowed her smile to grow just a tiny bit, "I thank you for your hospitality, sir." she replied, following after his leading strides.
